Courtney Hamer

Courtney specialises in advising and providing solutions to business owners. Her work includes buying and selling businesses, advising directors, drafting shareholders agreements and joint venture agreements and negotiating commercial contracts. On business and company sales and purchases, Courtney handles mergers, acquisitions and management buy outs, whether structured as asset or share sales and she regularly acts for buyers and sellers. On business sales and purchases, Courtney advises clients in respect of all aspects, including advising on NDS's, warranties and indemnities, disclosure, consultancy agreements and restrictive covenants. Courtney acts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. Courtney prides herself on being on hand for her clients as a trusted advisor, providing commercial and practical solutions. Whilst Courtney advises established companies, she also enjoys working with start-ups, enabling her to watch her client's business grow. "Each client and transaction is unique and there is no one size fits all solution" says Courtney. Elle Herft

Emily Brown

Emily joined Biscoes Solicitors in November 2021 having previously graduated with 2:1 in LLB Law at University of Reading. Emily qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in April 2020 and has experience working in both Mental Health and Clinical Negligence. Emily is passionate about working with vulnerable people including those detained under the Mental Health Act and those who have been victims of negligent medical treatment provided by Primary Care Practitioners or hospitals. Emily is a member of the Law Society's Mental Health Accreditation Scheme and is thus able to represent individuals who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) before the First-Tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber).

Graeme Quar

Graeme is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Portsmouth and sits on the advisory board to the Law Faculty and the Portsmouth Business School. Jack Courtney

Kevin Richardson

Kevin is an Associate Chartered Legal Executive and the Deputy Head of the Dispute Resolution and Litigation department, he qualified in June 2001 and has been working in the legal profession since 1988. He has been employed at Biscoes since March 1998. He is a member of the firms Dispute Resolution Team and has a level three diploma in leadership and Management which he completed in 2019.

Richard Barnes

Richard is the Senior Director and Head of Litigation/Dispute Resolution and the Company's Compliance Officer for Financial Administration specialising in personal injury law with 35 years' experience of acting for both Claimants and Defendants. He qualified in 1984.

Richard Barnett

Richard Barnett has been with the firm for more than 18 years, having trained and qualified with us. He specialises in litigation and dispute resolution, including partnership and franchise disputes, forfeiture and repossession work for commercial properties, and dilapidations and repair issues. He helps clients use mediation to avoid lengthy and expensive legal proceedings, and also advises commercial clients in insolvency cases. Among Richard's larger clients is a national building supplier: over the last 10 years, he's handled over 20 property acquisitions as part of a significant expansion plan

Stewart Alcock

Stewart joined us in March 2021 and is Head of our Commercial Department. Stewart is also qualified in South African law, and offers a full bouquet of legal advice to any of our clients interested in doing business there. Stuart Seagrove

Stuart also qualified as a CEDR Accredited Commercial Mediator in 2004 which enables him to bring another skill to the negotiation and conclusion of difficult contentious matter.

Troy Atkin

Troy is currently in the third seat of his Training Contract and is based in the Corporate and Commercial Department in the North End office. Troy is due to qualify at the beginning of March 2023. After graduating from his LLB (Hons) degree, Troy studied the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law combined with a MSc in Law, Business & Management. Troy is able to receive instructions on all matters involving corporate governance; complex commercial and corporate litigation; and contentious regulatory work. Troy is particularly interested in breach of contract claims. Troy is also undertaking Higher Rights of Audience, so that he will be able to advocate for his clients throughout England and Wales, and has already gained advocacy experience, participating in multiple successful hearings throughout his training contract so far. Troy is able to receive instructions from SMEs through to large-scale corporations; individuals; commercial landlords; and commercial tenants.

Whilst Stuart

Whilst Stuart has been practising Employment Law for nearly two decades Stuart's first job at 16 was selling ice creams to tourists at a beach side café. Whilst at University, he worked summer jobs in pubs and nightclubs in Spain and in the UK. Stuart played Rugby to 1 st XV level at College and University but now plays less successful golf instead. He is very handy with a shotgun and has picked up "Top Gun" titles and team wins at a few Clay Shooting events. He can play the drums, likes Scuba diving in hot countries. He has been a member of Round Table for many years and helped raise considerable sums for charity. He is a Trustee of the Peter Ashley Activity Centre Trust which operates from Fort Purbrook and Fort Widley. He has a Beagle Labrador cross called Benji and is married with two young daughters. He also once appeared in a Warner Bros film having played a part of an "enthusiastic" football hooligan having been cast following the submission of a photo of him sporting a "Lemmy" style moustache which he grew raising money for a prostate cancer charity. He will willingly show you a photo of the moustache but be warned its not for the faint hearted….
