Bill Dunstan

William "Bill" Dunstan has five years of architectural experience both residential and commercial - private and public. He has worked on city libraries, churches, school district campuses/auditoriums, mixed-use multi-family homes, and even seismic retrofits. When the rare opportunity presented itself, William worked alongside Disneyland Resort's engineering team on Disney's Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World while undergoing a mechanical and maintenance retrofit. Joining the profession just prior to graduating in 2015 from Newschool of Architecture and Design, he received his Bachelor of Architecture. William joined a study abroad program in Copenhagen, Dk for a summer. With a focus on sustainable design, he underwent a joint study on a mixed-use urban development named Hammarby Sjöstad located in Stockholm, SE. Since then, William has been applying his architectural goals with a strong affinity to context across multiple programs. He has grown to love a delicate but critical approach and looks forward to furthering his sustainable methods fusing both our interior wants with our exterior needs. William is progressing his studies and looks to soon undergo testing for architectural licensure.

Douglas S. Ely - Founder

Douglas S. Ely meets and exceeds the requirements of the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for involvement with historic architecture. Mr. Ely will serve as the Project Historical/Architectural Specialist among other roles on the project. Mr. Ely is a Southern California native and makes his home in Old Towne Orange. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1981 where he graduated with the award for the top senior for service, leadership, and attitude. Mr. Ely has been licensed as an architect in the State of California since 1984. In addition to historic preservation projects, Mr. Ely is also experienced in a wide variety of project types including educational facilities, child care facilities, athletic stadiums and facilities, parking structures, police facilities, institutional, health care, commercial office, retail, parking facilities, industrial, high and low density residential and congregate care.

Joel Freeson Carico

Joel Freeson Carico is a consultant with DSEA, and is a licensed architect in the State of California. He has over 35 years of experience in the planning, design, construction documentation and construction administration of a large variety of project types including educational, commercial, residential, military, and historic restoration and renovation. Mr. Carico is a senior level CAD documentation expert and a Building Information Modeling (BIM) specialist. Joel consults with DSEA and provides high end architectural support as needed. He received an A.A. from Los Angeles Pierce Community College and a Bachelors Of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.

Kim Olsen

Kim Olsen has twenty-five years of administrative and accounting experience in both large and small firms. She is in a leadership position assisting the Principal and DSEA personnel with project scheduling, client and consultant coordination and all aspects of the financial administration of the firm. Kim is the lead coordinator of administrative tasks with support from Principal for the needs of DSEA's architectural practice. Her administrative responsibilities are diverse and as needed to provide document control, scheduling, client, and consultant coordination, contracts and general administrative duties, etc. Kim's financial responsibilities include bookkeeping, billing, maintaining accounts payables and receivables tracking, collections, processing payroll and benefits, filing, purchasing and the preparation of financial reports for the purposes of tracking and filing with State and Federal agencies.

THOMAS ALDRICH

Tom Aldrich has over nine years of architectural experience on projects ranging from healthcare design, residential projects, and educational projects to commercial retail, restaurant and office projects. Prior to entering the architecture profession, Tom worked for over nine years in the construction industry. He worked on several large-scale projects including the CHOC south tower expansion in Orange. This unique mixture of knowledge and construction experience allows Tom to thoroughly understand what it takes to deliver projects from concept to completion. Tom joined the Army serving four years all around the world with the 82nd Airborne Division. He served our country in the Republic of Korea (South Korea), Iraq & Afghanistan. After his term in the military, Tom continued his education after moving to California and completed his Bachelor's of Architecture degree at New School of Architecture and Design in 2015. Tom's field experience has allowed him to become an expert in BIM Technology and 3D modeling.
