Damien Coleman

Damien is originally from Co. Clare and has been working at Galway Bay Golf Resort since 2008. He studied a BSc. In Turgrass Science at the University of Lancashire. Whilst studying, Damien received a scholarship from the R&A in Scotland as part of their Scholarship Scheme. He graduated from university in 2008 and began as Assistant Superintendent that year. In 2011 Damien became Golf Course Superintendent. During that time Damien was selected by the R&A to work as part of the Greenkeeping team at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Dara Ford

Job Titles:
  • Head PGA Professional
Dara has been the Head PGA Professional here in Galway Bay Golf Resort for over 3 years and is very popular with members and visitors alike. Dara is a Galway native and has returned to his hometown after spending many years as Professional in Rosses Point, Co Sligo and more recently Santo De Serra Golf Course in Madeira. He spends his time split between the Pro Shop and teaching and is always happy to take on new clients. "I have a passion for teaching, and we have great facilities here in Galway Bay which enables me to give lessons, whether on the putting green, Chipping greens or Full-Size Driving Range. The members are great and I also love to see visitors coming from afar to enjoy Galway Bay"

Gary Byrne

Job Titles:
  • Assistant Course Superintendent
Gary joined the team at Galway Bay Golf Resort in 2017 as the Assistant Superintendent, eventually taking on the role of Golf Course Superintendent in June 2020. Gary was previously employed at courses like Royal Dublin and Trump Doonbeg in Ireland along with Shinnecock Hills and Riviera Country Club in the United States. His tournament experience ranges from events on The European Tour and the PGA Tour as well as Major Championships. "I have a strong passion for golf and particularly in the sportsturf industry. Having seen, worked on and played some of the world's best golf courses, I believe we at Galway Bay can provide a unique golfing experience to players of a wide range of ability".
