But as life does we find ourselves pulled in new and different directions. Fast forward ten years or so and my wife and I were in Fatz Cafe having dinner when an old familiar face made his way by the table. His hair wasn't as red any more and mine certainly wasn't as brown but I recognized him just the same. He told me he was there hanging out with some friends while he was working and that they were going to go play D&D afterwards. I had been looking for a group to start playing with and asked if he'd politely inquire if I could join up with them. He came back and told me yes and here we were, hanging out again every week, again like no time had been lost. I gained a new group of friends that day (including another one from my younger years) and we met up every week and we laughed, and we joked, and we enjoyed each other's company, and we became the Waffle House fam.
