SWORM

We are a group of ophthalmology trainees from the Peninsula Deanery in the South West of England, who were inspired by SWARM to create a trainee led research network. We have based our network on their model, which has created excellent results and is an inspiration for any body looking to create a research matrix... Good research requires large cohorts to generate meaningful data, which can prove difficult in smaller centres due to population dynamics and low numbers when dealing with very specific cases. This can be addressed by involving more centres. We are aiming to harness the power of the internet and "crowd-research"to achieve this... Ophthalmology trainees may find it difficult to initiate and recruit to research, and we aim to help anyone who is interested in setting up a research project and coordinate it across multiple centres.
