Devon DeMarco

Devon DeMarco was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduating from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she moved to Philadelphia and then to Boston for law school. Devon earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, with a certificate in Health and Biomedical Law. While in law school Devon clerked for First Justice Gregory Flynn and worked as a law clerk at a leading medical malpractice firm as well as a summer associate at a firm in Maine. She established her own practice in Maine after graduation, helping clients with personal injury, family, and criminal matters. She also served as Liaison on a five-year, $3.3 million-dollar National Science Foundation grant, where she worked with university faculty and administrators to develop policy changes related to the advancement and retention of women faculty in STEM fields. Devon became a prosecutor in 2015. She was promoted to Deputy District Attorney in 2019, managing one of the busiest prosecutorial districts in Maine while maintaining an active caseload of some of the district's most serious cases, including manslaughter and crimes involving children. She served on a number of committees and task forces aimed at improving the fairness and quality of prosecutions and police investigations. After relocating to Northwest Indiana, Devon worked at a Chicago-based general practice firm before coming to Rhame and Elwood in the spring of 2022. In addition to her legal work, Devon has been a cooperating faculty of law at the University of Maine's Maine Business School since 2014. She teaches law, management, and negotiation in the undergraduate and MBA programs. She also serves on the board of directors for a public water utility in northwest Indiana. She is licensed to practice in Indiana, Illinois, and Maine.

John M. Rhame III

John Rhame graduated from the University of Iowa in 1969 with a B.A. in Business Administration, and in 1971 he graduated with a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations. While employed as a full-time police officer in Portage, Indiana, he received a J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1974. Attorney Rhame has served as Deputy Porter County Prosecutor and Deputy Porter County Public Defender, as well as holding the position of City Attorney. After forty-four years of practicing law, his area of concentrations are: family law and real estate transactions. In the family law arena, he has handled over 4,000 cases including divorce and juvenile law. Attorney Rhame also deals with real estate, residential sales transactions, as well as commercial and business sales agreements.

Kenneth B. Elwood

Ken Elwood has been a resident of Portage and Porter County, Indiana since the age of five. He attended Concordia University-River Forest, where he played football. He graduated from Indiana University in 1991 from the renowned Kelly School of Business with a B.S. and graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1994. Attorney Elwood joined John Rhame in 1995 and became a partner with the firm of Rhame & Elwood, which was created in the year 2000. He has served as a Deputy Prosecutor and currently serves as a Porter County Chief Public Defender. He represents many institutional and governmental clients throughout his practice. His client base includes NorthShore Health Centers, City of Portage, and Portage Township Schools. He concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, governmental representation, business and business litigation, and criminal law.

Michael Brazil

Michael Brazil was born and raised in Hobart, Indiana, graduating from Hobart High School in 1998. Following high school, he attended the University of Saint Francis where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2002. In 2005 Mike began a law enforcement career at the Lake Station Police Department and then joined the Crown Point Police Department in 2008. Mike graduated from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 2019 with a Juris Doctor and is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and was deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Nathaniel Henson

Nathaniel Henson joined Rhame and Elwood in February 2016. He currently resides in Northwest Indiana with his wife and three children. He grew up and attended high school in Portage, Indiana. He attended Indiana University-Bloomington and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Criminal Justice and History. While attending Indiana University, he also worked as a police officer. After graduating from Indiana University, Attorney Henson attended Valparaiso University Law School and graduated in 2004. While there, he served as an extern for former Chief Federal District Court Judge Charles P. Kocoras of the Northern District of Illinois. Upon graduation, Attorney Henson was asked to serve as one of Judge Kocoras's Law Clerks. Over the course of his legal career, Attorney Henson has also served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Elkhart County, an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Indiana, and currently as a Deputy Public Defender for Porter County. Attorney Henson is dually licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois, and focuses his practice in the area of Criminal Defense and Personal Injury Litigation. He also serves as one of NorthShore Health Center's corporate attorneys. Attorney Henson has represented clients in both Indiana and Illinois, as well as in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Indiana. He is committed to ensuring justice and due process for all persons accused of a crime or injured through the negligence of another.

Scott R. McClure

Scott R. McClure was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. He attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he earned his B.A. Degree in 1998. He then attended the DePaul School of Law in Chicago, Illinois, and earned his J.D. in 2001. Attorney McClure became an Associate at the Law Office of Rhame and Elwood in 2001 and became a partner in 2017 wherein the firm became Rhame, Elwood & McClure, PC. Attorney McClure is driven by the concept of equal justice. He concentrates his practice in Municipal Law, Criminal Law, and Estate Planning. He has been a Porter County Public Defender for 12 years and is currently a Public Defender for the Honorable Jeffrey L. Thode of Porter Superior Court Six. Since working at Rhame, Elwood & McClure, PC, Attorney McClure has been the Assistant City Attorney for Portage, represented the Portage Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals, Police Merit Board, and Portage Township Trustee. He is also currently the Attorney for Porter County, Indiana, and represents the Porter County Plan Commission, Porter County Board of Zoning Appeals, and Porter County Storm Water Management Board.
