Dr. Breanne McGhee is a primary care and pediatric optometrist from New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology from Xavier University in New Orleans. Upon graduation, she continued onto Pacific University College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry (O.D.) and Masters in Education in 2016. She completed a family practice optometry residency at Bond Wroten Eye Clinic in Louisiana affiliated with the Southern College of Optometry. Later, she earned a fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). Dr. McGhee is an assistant associate professor and clinical adjunct at Pacific University College of Optometry. She is also an active member of the Optometry Association of Louisiana, American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry and National Optometric Association where she serves on various committees. Her clinical interests are pediatrics and ocular disease. Dr. McGhee practices as Ochsner Medical Center and Ochsner Health Center - Destrehan.

Dan L. Fortenbacher, O.D., FCOVD, founded Wow Vision Therapy in 2000. His passion for developmental vision and rehabilitative vision therapy began early in his education after working with children who struggled with reading and learning. After graduating from The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1979, Dr. Fortenbacher continued research of developmental vision in post-graduate studies. He became a Board Certified Fellow in Developmental Vision and Vision Therapy (FCOVD) in 1987 by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). He has served in numerous leadership positions within the profession, including president of COVD. Dr. Fortenbacher has developed numerous models of innovation in the delivery of developmental, binocular and neuro-optometric vision rehabilitative care.

Dr. Jeffrey Colegrove was awarded his associate in science degree from Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois. He obtained his bachelors degree in anatomical sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned his optometry degree with honors from Indiana University. During his tenure at Indiana University, Dr. Colegrove completed an optometry student externship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Illinois, and a low vision externship at the Illinois Street Eye Clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his optometry residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, where he trained in therapeutic optometry. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry since 1996. He joined Ochsner in 1993 as a staff optometrist and has self initiated and developed and is the current director of an optometry extern rotation with the Southern College of Optometry and the Illinois College of Optometry. He has adjunct faculty status with Southern College of Optometry and the Illinois College of Optometry.
During his tenure at Ochsner, Dr. Colegrove has established a primary care optometry residency program at Ochsner that is affiliated with the Illinois College of Optometry. He holds therapeutic optometry licenses in Louisiana, Indiana, and Delaware and is a member of the American Optometric Association. In his daily practice Dr. Colegrove incorporates ocular therapeutics along with routine eye care and all types of contact lens fittings. He is involved in lecturing and grand rounds instruction for the ophthalmology residents. In addition to his low vision externship, Dr. Colegrove completed a low vision course at Lighthouse International in 1998, has been instrumental in developing an optical shop display of current low vision aids. He also conducts monthly low vision clinics. Dr. Colegrove practices at the Ochsner Health Center in Metairie, Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway, and the Ochsner Health Center in Covington.
Dr. Jonathan Nussdorf succeeded Dr. Richard Hesse as Chairman in 2008. Dr. Nussdorf received his bachelors degree from the University of California in San Diego and a Master's degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville and completed his internship, ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at Ochsner. He then returned to Louisville and, while in private practice, continued his research and professional volunteer activities before returning to New Orleans to join the Ochsner staff in 1999. His practice and professional interests include glaucoma management and consultation, cataract and intraocular lens implantation, and participation in the training of glaucoma fellows and ophthalmology residents. Dr. Nussdorf is board certified in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Nussdorf practices at the Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway in New Orleans and Chabert Medical Center in Houma.
Dr. Pulin Shah received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his internship at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, ophthalmology residency at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. His clinical interests focus on the most advanced techniques related to cataract surgery and intraocular lens technology, corneal transplantation (including DSAEK), and LASER refractive surgery. He is board certified in Ophthalmology, and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Shah is a native of Louisiana, having grown up in Opelousas and Lafayette. He and his wife, Natasha, returned to New Orleans in 2007 to join in the city's rebuilding efforts. Dr. Shah practices at the Ochsner main campus and will also in the near future have a practice at the Ochsner Baptist location.

As Clinical Director of Woolfson Eye Institute, Dr. Tom Spetalnick oversees the LASIK clinics, trains our staff in refractive surgery related care, communicates with our referring doctors, and provides Continuing Education courses for eye doctors throughout the Southeast.
Dr. Spetalnick serves as a local and state leader in Georgia optometry, serving as the President of the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association from 2005-2006, and as President of the Georgia Optometric Association (GOA) from 2011-2012. In June 2012, the GOA awarded him as its Georgia Optometrist of the Year. He currently serves as the GOA Membership Chairman.

SCO is proud to sponsor SECO Day each fall for students on the SCO campus. During SECO Day, SECO's President or President-Elect is invited to visit campus to speak to students and faculty about the importance of involvement with professional organizations such as SECO International, LLC.
In recent years, SECO's President Elect has presented a check to a fund that enables students to attend the SECO Congress in Atlanta.
Southern College of Optometry is also privileged to award two Southern Council of Optometrists Endowed Scholarships totaling $12,000 to students residing in a Southern Council member state. Selections are based upon competitive GPA, OAT scores, applicant interviews and extracurricular activities. These students must maintain a 3.0 GPA while enrolled at SCO.
