ABUSE

My goal is to, hopefully, bring about change, to help heal the stigma we carry with us, even in this day and age. We still have no one to advocate for us and our secrets are still held, like ghosts in chains, in families where the crime was perpetrated. The lasting effects are not just the emotional instability, drug, alcohol, sexual addiction, and physical abuse we continue to suffer with, but it is a legacy that continues to be passed from one generation to the next. In my family, I have been able to count at least five generations of abuse. I personally tried to change this where my children were concerned, but I was not encouraged or supported in receiving professional mental help. I thought for years that mental health therapy was a joke because of my family's experience with it.
