Heather M. Burns

Heather Burns represents aggrieved employees and injured victims in matters of employment discrimination, wrongful termination and medical malpractice. As an employment litigation attorney, she represents primarily plaintiffs dealing with discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, Family and Medical Leave Act issues, and other employment cases involving both federal and state law. Her medical malpractice practice involves representing plaintiffs in medical negligence cases in state and federal court. She has successfully litigated cases in both the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, state superior courts and the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Jeanne S. Saffan

Jeffrey R. Crocker

Lauren S. Irwin

Lauren Irwin represents plaintiffs and defendants in employment disputes and civil litigation, and regularly counsels and represents individuals, schools, municipalities, and private entities on employment law matters. Because she represents both employers and employees, she provides valuable insight into and knowledge of opposing counsel strategies. Nathan C. Midolo

Nate Midolo represents municipal, commercial, and insurance entities. He has experience guiding clients through all phases of the litigation process, including pretrial discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal. Nate practices in both state and federal courts and has handled a wide variety of claims including land use disputes, civil rights claims, breach of contract allegations, and insurance coverage issues. He also provides advisory services to both municipal and business clients. Notably, Nate focuses a significant portion of his practice on public entity labor relation matters, including providing guidance through all steps of the labor negotiation, grievance, and administrative process. Nate attended the University of Kansas and graduated in 2008 with a B.G.S. in political science and a minor in business management. He attended law school at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated in 2011. While attending law school, Nate worked at the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust. Prior to joining Upton & Hatfield, Stephanie was the managing attorney for a real estate firm in southern New Hampshire. She also practiced law in Vermont for several years working on estate planning, family law, landlord/tenant, and real estate matters. Stephanie is originally from Winthrop, Maine, where she graduated from the University of Maine with a B.A. in English. After completing her undergraduate degree, Stephanie moved to Vermont where she attended Vermont Law School, graduating magna cum laude, and served as Senior Notes Editor for the Vermont Law Review. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, Stephanie worked for a pro bono legal services project with the St. Johnsbury Community Justice Center in St. Johnsbury, VT. She also served on several community boards and organizations including Lamoille County Mental Health Services, acting as board member and treasurer. Thomas W. Morse

Thomas W. Morse focuses his law practice on estate planning, wills, trusts, and probate administration. He brings long-standing experience in trust administration to beneficiaries and families, with an emphasis on trust windup details. He also brings a concentration in evaluating retirement community contract documents and admission application criteria for elderly clients in view of the impact on client assets and estate plans. Thomas practiced law in Concord for over 40 years at a close neighboring law firm before coming to Upton & Hatfield, LLP. He is a United States Army veteran who served in Kaiserslautern, West Germany as a Congressional Correspondent for an Army Air Defense Command. Timothy J. Sullivan

Tim Sullivan's practice focuses on assisting Upton & Hatfield's municipal clients. Tim brings over a decade of litigation experience, having spent the last eleven years as a prosecutor. He also brings extensive experience with issues that municipalities face when employees are subject to disciplinary action and when handling Right to Know requests. Through his career Tim has tried approximately fifty jury trials as lead counsel. Prior to joining Upton & Hatfield, Tim worked at the New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General in the Criminal Bureau as a Senior Assistant Attorney General. In 2020, he was appointed to serve as the Chief of the Public Integrity Unit. In that capacity, Tim reviewed, investigated, and prosecuted allegations of criminal conduct by state officials and law enforcement. Tim was also appointed as lead counsel to investigate and prosecute historical allegations of physical and sexual abuse arising out of juvenile detention facilities in New Hampshire. Tim is originally from Kingston, New Hampshire, and graduated with a B.A. in political science from Quinnipiac University in 2005. He graduated from Roger Williams School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island in 2008. Tim began his legal career at a law firm in Chelmsford, Massachusetts where he represented individuals, municipalities, and businesses. In 2011, he joined the Strafford County Attorney's Office in Dover, New Hampshire where he prosecuted domestic violence related crimes. In 2017, Tim was appointed as Deputy County Attorney and shifted his focus to prosecuting serious felonies until he joined the Department of Justice in 2019. Todd C. Fahey

Todd brings versatility and experience to his practice. Prior to joining Upton & Hatfield, Todd served for eight years as State Director for AARP New Hampshire, an organization with over 215,000 Granite State members, where he was responsible for the organization's overall strategic direction. Fahey worked across all economic sectors drawing upon his legal, policy and business skills to advance the organization's mission of enhancing the quality of life for all as we age. During his tenure, AARP led efforts to pass (among other key legislation in New Hampshire) several prescription drug reform bills, the Uniform Power of Attorney Act, and helped dozens of New Hampshire communities become more age friendly for younger and older residents alike. Mr. Fahey practiced law for more than two decades and was a director and shareholder at one of New Hampshire's largest law firms. As a lawyer, he helped to organize, and acted as legal counsel to, some of New Hampshire's most influential and important nonprofit organizations and helped many others navigate difficult transitions. On several occasions, Todd was appointed by New Hampshire courts, at the request of the New Hampshire Attorney General's office, to act as a special trustee to stabilize large and small nonprofits and charitable trusts in distress, including two of New Hampshire's largest such organizations. He has also run small businesses and has engaged in various entrepreneurial endeavors. Todd draws upon a unique academic, practical, and business skillset to provide sound counsel to clients. Fahey has served in board leadership roles for Catholic Charities New Hampshire and has served on various other nonprofit boards including various New Hampshire foundations and the Concord Family YMCA.
