Adam Mayer

Adam has worked in civil litigation for the past decade. He has particular experience in shareholder/partnership claims, contractual disputes and professional negligence claims. He also has experience in civil fraud claims and privacy claims. Adam studied History at the University of Leeds to a Masters level. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law and then completed his Level 6 Cilex, qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2022. Adam enjoys running, swimming and reading. At the weekend he likes to spend time with his three young children.

Adele Walker

Adele Walker is a Solicitor in our Real Estate Team based in Sheffield. Adele joined BRM in 2022, having completed her training contract at Lupton Fawcett. With over 6 years' experience, Adele works on a broad range of commercial real estate matters, including a variety of commercial property acquisitions and sales, but with a key focus on landlord and tenant work including new leases, renewal leases, lease assignments and surrenders. Adele also works alongside her corporate colleagues, dealing with the property elements of corporate transactions. Adele takes pride in her work and particularly enjoys building good connections with her clients, to ensure that she achieves the best possible outcome for their business or for her clients personally. In her spare time, Adele enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Adrian Sheehan

Adrian Sheehan is a solicitor and Executive Director, and one of the owners of BRM. He is Head of Real Estate at BRM. Amy Hallam

Amy Hallam is an employment law specialist Solicitor/Director at BRM and is head of our Employment Law Team. Qualifying as a solicitor in 2002, she has practised employment law for over 20 years and became a Director at BRM in April 2014. Amy advises employers of varying sizes and industries (including councils) nationally in all aspects of employment law and HR as well as overseeing BRM's successful annual retainer scheme, Employment Law Service Scheme (‘ELSS'), which has been running since 2004. Amy and the employment law team represent clients in ACAS conciliation and Employment Tribunal claims. This has involved both successfully defending claims and recovering costs in appropriate cases.

Annabel Denby Hollis

Annabel has vast experience in advising on high value civil fraud claims, shareholder/partnership claims, contractual disputes and professional negligence claims. She also has experience in dealing with both corporate and personal insolvency matters including bankruptcy petitions and claims against directors faced with insolvency or disqualification proceedings. Annabel received a First Class Honours Degree from Sheffield Hallam University in 2015 and obtained a Distinction for her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Sheffield in June 2016. She started her training contract in September 2018 and qualified in September 2020 into Litigation. Outside of work, Annabel likes to spend her spare time with her family enjoying long walks out in the Peak District when the weather is nice!

Ashley Wood

Previously a Partner at Sheffield law firm, HLW Keeble Hawson LLP, Ashley Wood joined BRM's Commercial Litigation Team as a Director in December 2013. With over 20 years' experience in practising law, Ashley initially trained with Russell & Creswick where he progressed his way up through the firm to become partner. He remained in that role through the firm's merger with HLW in 2005. With a reputation for being an approachable, knowledgeable and tenacious litigation lawyer, Ashley has helped many businesses achieve favourable outcomes to a range of contentious matters. These include contract, partnership and complex commercial disputes. He also advises on insolvency matters, acting for insolvency practitioners, companies and individuals. His experience has led him to represent clients in the High Courts, as well as specialist Courts including the Technology and Construction Court, and the Mercantile Court. Away from the office, Ashley enjoys spending time with his family, football and golf. He is a member of Hallowes Golf Club.

Bernadette Greenall

Bernadette Greenall is a Paralegal working in our Wills and Probate department. Before joining BRM in August 2014, Bernadette worked as a Private Client Paralegal at Elliot Mather Solicitors where she gained experience in preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney, as well as Court of Protection applications. In her spare time, Bernadette enjoys shopping and socialising with friends and family.

Christopher Hey

Chris Hey is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Real Estate Team at our Sheffield office. He is experienced in a broad range of commercial real estate matters including sales, purchases, development work, asset management for large institutional landlords and public bodies, and other landlord and tenant work for both landlords and occupiers. Chris joined BRM in October 2018 having previously worked at national law firm, CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP.

Courtney Featherstone

Courtney began her career with BRM in 2017 and became a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution department in 2022. Courtney assists senior solicitors in all aspects of commercial and residential property litigation, including landlord and tenant matters, as well as acting for commercial and private clients in a range of high-value dispute resolution matters. She is involved in all aspects of the claims process and has assisted in achieving favourable outcomes for many businesses and individual clients. Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time with family and walking, having recently ascended Scafell Pike in the Lake District with her dad.

Darcy Oughton

Ellie Leatherday

Ellie Leatherday is an Associate Solicitor in our Employment Law Team. After completion of a Masters in Legal Practice at University of Sheffield, Ellie began her law career as a paralegal at a firm of solicitors in Sheffield where she gained a wide range of experience in employment law, data protection and litigation. She qualified as a solicitor in September 2019, specialising in employment. Ellie joined BRM in September 2020 and works closely with Department Head, Amy Hallam, representing clients of all sizes in a range of industries on all aspects of employment law and day-to-day HR-related matters. Ellie is a specialist in all things data protection including drafting policies but also advising clients on often large complex data subject access requests. Ellie regularly participates and presents on employment related topics at our HR Forum events and to clients at in-house training sessions. In her spare time, Ellie enjoys spending time with her partner and young daughter, and trying to fit in as much reading and DIY around her house as possible.

George Thomson

Georgia Jeonney

Georgia Jeonney is a Trainee Solicitor in our employment law team. After completing the legal practice course at the University of Sheffield, Georgia began her legal career as a paralegal at Sheffield firm where she gained experience advising trade union members and officials on a wide range of employment related matters and Employment Tribunal claims. Georgia joined BRM in August 2021 and works closely with the Department Head, Amy Hallam, and Associate, Ellie Leatherday. Georgia advises and represents clients of all sizes and industries on all aspects of employment law and HR-related matters. Georgia has a particular interest in Employment Tribunal claims, acting for both employers and employees.

Georgina Kassim

Giles Searby

With over 30 years' experience as a solicitor, Giles spent the first decade of his career at a top 10 law firm in the City of London, before returning north and enjoying spells in the Sheffield offices of two large international firms, followed by 6 years as a partner at another regional practice, before joining BRM in 2020. Giles acts for a wide range of regional and national clients with a particular focus on the manufacturing and technology sectors. He specialises in high value commercial disputes, contentious intellectual property and also advises with regard to international trade issues. Giles is also the Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors of Sheffield Hallam University. Outside of work, Giles is a keen runner and a committee member of Clowne Road Runners. He also enjoys theatre and served on the Board of Trustees of Sheffield Theatres for 7 years.

Grace Blant

Holly Wardle

Holly joined BRM in May 2022 after having a successful university placement with the firm during her undergraduate Law Degree. As a Trainee Solicitor in our Dispute Resolution Team, Holly acts for regional and national clients, assisting senior solicitors on high value commercial litigation disputes ranging from manufacturing and technology to construction. Holly is also a member of the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division committee and organises events for the JLD, whilst representing the interests of Sheffield's Junior Lawyers at a national level.

Jade advises clients of all sizes in a range of industries on all aspects of employment law and HR-related matters. Jade assists on Employment Tribunal claims, advising both employers and employees.

James Alger

James Alger is a director at BRM and heads up the Sheffield Real Estate Team. He joined BRM in 2019 from regional law firm, Keebles. He has significant experience dealing with a wide variety of commercial property acquisitions and disposals for both investors and developers and many years of experience in Landlord and Tenant matters. James advises developers and housebuilders on land acquisition, site assembly and disposals overseeing the process from initial purchase to disposal of the final completed properties. James also provides advice around the property elements of business sales and acquisitions as well as advising insolvency practitioners on the property aspects of business insolvencies. As an adoptive Sheffielder for nearly 20 years having moved from the Humber region as a graduate, James is passionate about the development and regeneration of the city centre landscape and relishes having an opportunity to contribute to this as a real estate professional. James Parden

James began his career at national law firm Irwin Mitchell in 2003, moving on to Hemingway's Solicitors in 2014, taking up the role of Head of Property Litigation at regional firm Taylor & Emmet in 2015. James joined BRM's Sheffield office in April 2018 and is a Director at the firm. Specialising in all aspects of both commercial and residential property litigation, James has advised international property developers, banks, listed companies, high street retailers, universities, managing agents and independent landlords in relation to all of their property issues. James also manages and supervises BRM's debt recovery department. Outside of work, James is a keen follower of most sports and sometimes he even participates.

Jane Womack is a Licensed Conveyancer in our busy Residential Property department. Jane qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2004. Her role at the firm involves helping clients with all aspects of conveyancing, including buying and selling property, equity release, transfers of equity and remortgages. Jane enjoys the high level of contact she has with all her clients throughout transactions and nothing pleases her more than the time when she says to a client, "your keys to your new home are available". Outside of work, Jane enjoys travelling, fine dining and socialising with friends and family.

Julie Carr

Since qualification in 2002, Julie has specialised in residential property development. She has an extensive background in residential property development, from dealing with single sites to strategic land assembly, including negotiating planning promotion agreements, options and conditional contracts. She has a particular specialism in drafting and negotiating bespoke development and construction arrangements, including, for instance, preserving rights for the future development of retained land and ransom strips, dealing with complicated overage agreements and joint venture and collaboration agreements. Julie acts for house builders, land promoters and landowners. For house builders, Julie is involved in facilitating the post-purchase set up of the land for plots, affordable and build-to-rent sales, including putting in place the necessary infrastructure agreements.

Kirsty is from Sheffield and studied law at the University of Manchester graduating in 2009. She qualified as a Solicitor in March 2015 and has a background in defending fraudulent insurance claims. Kirsty's hobbies include visiting new places, crafting and pilates. At the weekends Kirsty enjoys spending time with her family and friends, long walks with her dog and trying new places to eat.

Lewis Hastie

Lewis Hastie joined BRM in August 2023 with more than 14 years' post-qualified experience, specialising predominantly in contentious probate cases and acting in contentious Court of Protection proceedings. Lewis is an experienced solicitor dealing in private disputes and acting mainly for individuals. He studied law at Warwick University from 2002 to 2005 and completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Sheffield in 2006. He qualified as a solicitor in 2009 with Spearing Waite in Leicester. For the majority of his career, he has worked in the East Midlands, most recently at Shakespeare Martineau (2014-2017) and at Nelsons (2017 - 2023) where he rose to Legal Director. Lewis served as Vice President (2009) and President (2010) of Leicestershire Junior Lawyers' Division. He also delivered training sessions to the Nottinghamshire Law Society and has been an active participant in ACTAPS (Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Solicitors) events and CoPPA (Court of Protection Practitioners Association) meetings. Lewis Hastie deals predominantly with contested wills, Inheritance Act claims for disappointed beneficiaries, disputes between executors, applications to Court for will validity and rectification. He also deals with trusts disputes, TOLATA claims and disputes over property ownership as well as general civil claims. Lewis is a specialist in Court of Protection proceedings and has acted for many individuals in disputes concerning both property and affairs and health and welfare issues. He has represented protected parties on instruction from their litigation friend and has acted also in deputyship/attorney disputes and applications for approval of gifts, expenses and litigation on behalf of protected parties.
