Anette Poulsen Miltoft

Anette has been coordinating a team of 6 legal advisers since April 2005. During this time, she has been involved in the drafting and negotiation of a large number of research cooperation agreements, license agreements and forming of spinout companies. Before joining the Europe Committee, Anette was a member of ASTP's Professional Development Committee from January 2009. Prior to joining the University of Aarhus, Anette worked with a private law firm and following that, she was one of the first two TTO employees at the University of Aalborg in 2000 when the Danish Act on Inventions was introduced.

Anji Miller

Anji is a technology transfer professional with more than 18 years' experience of working with early-stage translational research. Anji has extensive experience of IP and contract management, IP transactions and business development of healthcare technologies and development of knowledge transfer policies. Her current role at LifeArc involves working with academic and charitable establishments to identify, cultivate and commercialise early-stage healthcare technologies. Anji provides specialist advice in the areas of research commercialisation, intellectual property and commercial negotiations to charity partners, and the LifeArc Philanthropic Fund, which is designated to fund early-stage translational developments that address rare diseases. As a proponent for professional advancement in technology transfer, Anji developed and leads the LifeArc-AUTM Technology Transfer Training Fellowship programme. This collaborative initiative with AUTM, is designed to train and assist scientists to become technology transfer professionals. An advocate of equality diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Anji cofounded the Global Equality, Diversity and Equality in Technology Transfer (GEDITT), an initiative with a mission to raise awareness and drive EDI in the technology transfer sector. Previous roles include Intellectual Property, Contract, Technology Transfer and Business Development positions in academia and charity sector and pharma. At the Wellcome Trust as part of the Innovations Team, Anji worked with industry and academia to translate innovative healthcare technologies. At St George's University London, as a senior member of the technology transfer office and IP lead for EU funded projects, including EUROPRISE, Access To Pharmaceuticals (ATP) and board and advisory positions for university spin outs. At Thomson Pharma, Anji was a member of the Biological and Chemical Patents team responsible for the delivery and development of Thomson Pharma's proprietary services. Anji holds a M.Sc. in Human Molecular Genetics and Ph.D in Cancer Genetics from Imperial College, as well as a M.Sc. and Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London. She is a certified project manager (PRINCE2), registered technology transfer professional (RTTP) and a certified licensing professional (CLP). Anji is VP of Communities on the ASTP Board, a member of the BioIndustry Association (BIA) Cell & Gene Therapy Advisory Committee, and the AUTM Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity Committee.

Anuar Shafiei

Anuar joined ASTP in February 2018 Anuar is responsible for organising and delivering all ASTP events. With over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry both in Malaysia and in Europe, Anuar has extensive event management and hospitality industry experience. His background in both the business world and non-profit sector have given him valuable insight in planning events specifically tailored to a wide variety of needs. Prior to working at ASTP, Anuar worked at the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board as their Marketing Manager for the BeNeLux market based in The Hague, Netherlands. His favorite quote provides some insight into why his events are memorable. Following a successful career with IXA VU/VUmc, Amsterdam, in 2021 Art commenced his new role Head of Business Development and Knowledge Transfer, Erasmus Research Services, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Prior to joining IXA, Art worked as Director Knowledge Partnering for Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Center in their joint TTO, Luris. Art has a master in Astronomy and Science Based Business from Leiden University. He now has over 10 years experience in Technology Transfer, Business Development and Licensing. He fully enjoys supporting scientists in initiating and shaping relationships with companies and other societal partners. He is also passionate about supporting teams spinning-out technologies into new businesses. Barbara Tan

Barbara Tan currently works on behalf of the University of Antwerp as Policy Advisor Knowledge Transfer for the YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe https://yufe.eu/ ) which is one of the selected European University Alliances funded by the European Commission to test and pilot different cooperation models for European Universities. One of her main tasks within this YUFE alliance is to develop together with colleagues from both the University of Antwerp and the other YUFE universities a common vision and strategy on "Flipped Knowledge Transfer". Barbara has more than 20 years of experience in various aspects of higher education with focus on research, innovation, science and technology policy. She started her professional career as a researcher at the Center for Social Policy Herman Deleeck, where she published about persistent social inequalities in Flemish higher education. Then she became advisor for education and innovation at the Flemish employers organization Voka-Vlaams Economische Verbond for almost 6 years, where she built a wide network of business contacts. Then she returned to the University of Antwerp at the Department of Research, Innovation & Valorisation Antwerp (RIVA) in various functions among which as Valorisation Manager for the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) as the point of contact for researchers in the domain of SSH who need support on the transfer of their scientific knowledge towards companies and other stakeholders. Barbara enabled the launch of various spin-off companies from the University of Antwerp and also holds the certificate of Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP). After receiving her bachelor's in business administration and management she volunteered as an event coordinator at the Dutch Language Café organizing and coordinating events for internationals that have immigrated to the Netherlands and would like to learn Dutch or meet fellow internationals. Christophe Haunold - President

Christophe Haunold is the President of ASTP 2022-23, elected by the members during ASTP annual conference, Lisbon, May 2022. He has previously served the association as Vice-President and Chair of the Impact and Survey Committee. Christophe is the Head of the central office for Partnerships, Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the University of Luxembourg. He was until May 2020, TTO Director at Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse and a manager at Toulouse Tech Transfer, one of the Tech Transfer companies (SATT) dedicated to French public research. The blueprint of this company in 2012 has been his responsibility as he was Toulouse University's TTO Director. He was the president of the C.U.R.I.E network (French association for public research valorisation) between 2011 and 2014. He has been educated as a Chemical Engineer (1987), and holds a PhD (1991, Toulouse INP). Dr Haunold has been working in the field of industrial liaison and public research commercialisation for 29 years, as an expert, a Director and a TT Officer.

Dr Henric Rhedin

Dr Henric Rhedin is former President and Vice President Policy of ASTP and following a period at Gothenburg University, in 2022, he started to work for Volvo. He has long experience from the university sector as a researcher in Theoretical High Energy Physics as well as in utilization. In addition to this he has substantial experience from leading positions in industry, as well as technology transfer. His industrial experience covers both large companies, small companies and spin off's from universities in various technology sectors. Henric has been a board member of several companies and organizations over the last 10 years. He has worked in technology transfer at Chalmers University and Gothenburg University and holds extensive national and international networks in technology transfer, industry and academia. He initiated the Swedish Network for Innovation and Technology Transfer Support (SNITTS) and was part of ASTP Professional Development Committee for several years. Eugene Sweeney

Eugene founded Iambic Innovation Ltd in 2000. It provides services and training related to early-stage technology exploitation, and innovation and IP management. He is also currently providing training and support for the preparation of Horizon Europe proposals, with an emphasis on aspects related to impact, innovation and strategies for knowledge management, protection and exploitation. He has over 40 years professional experience of the commercial exploitation of research and early-stage technologies. As a researcher, he formed his first start-up in 1978. During the 1980's he worked in the early micro-computer industry, where he was responsible for sourcing, licensing-in, and developing new technologies, and then taking them to market. Following that, for 11 years, he was a senior executive at BTG (British Technology Group), where he managed a portfolio of IP and early-stage technologies, commercialising them through equity investments, start-ups, JVs, and licensing. He has worked for over 30 years with the European Commission as an expert consultant, evaluator, rapporteur/vice chair, and project monitor for various projects, programmes and strategic reviews. He is currently a senior advisor to the EU IP Helpdesk, and a Central Expert for the EC's Horizon IP-Scan service. As such he contributes to policy issues and best practice guidelines related to IP management, protection, and exploitation. He is an active member of the International (ISO) and European (CEN) Standards Committees developing standards for Innovation Management and Intellectual Property Management Systems. Hana Kosová

Outgoing Director, Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer, Charles University,… While still a student of law and linguistics at Charles University, and a freelance translator and interpreter, Hana joined the Czech-British team of Pre-Accession Funds with the Ministry of Regional Development. Following her studies, she moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a professional diplomat dealing with EU funding and pre-accession negotiations. Following the successful accession of the Czech Republic to EU in 2004, Hana decided to follow the project management and funding route and accepted a post with United Nations Development Programme and helped to manage the Czech-UNDP Trust Fund which supported development activities including use of innovative technologies in South East Europe and former Soviet Union countries. She later moved to the United Kingdom as a Project Manager, joining a team dealing with innovative approaches in cooperation of industry and local schools: her other experience includes project management of large international NGO projects, including Sue Ryder International, then several years in a private consultancy company Innovation Leadership Agency specialising in innovative projects. Since 2011 Hana has been working with Charles University, starting with pre-seed and proof of concept projects and later building the University Innovation Network. She has been part of the management team of the Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer since 2014 and in 2016 was appointed Director. She helped to shape the professional Czech national association Transfera and from 2015 - 2018 acted as its Vice-President. In 2018, with her team establishing, Hana created a subsidiary company, Charles University Innovations Prague, LLC, to which she has been appointed a member of the Supervisory Board. Hana served on the Board of ASTP from 2019 - 2023.

Jurgen Joossens

Since 2016 Jurgen Joossens has been the head of the Valorisation Office (TTO) at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. The core mission of this office is to support researchers in the protection and exploitation of scientific knowledge and intellectual property. The Valorisation Office team disseminates the available knowledge and technology and searches for the most suitable valorisation strategy. This can be either through a research collaboration, a license to a private partner and / or by setting up a own spin-off company. The office provides our researchers with training on entrepreneurship and intellectual property management. The Valorisation Office manages the Industrial Research Fund (IOF) and reports to the Flemish government. He is also member of the Board of Directors of UBIS NV, the incubator of the University of Antwerp. Since 2017 he has been the representative of TTO Flanders in the NAAC. Jurgen Joossens obtained a pharmaceutical degree (2000) and a PhD in medicinal chemistry (2005). In 2005 he obtained a scientist position at Janssen Pharmaceutica (J&J). After that position he returned to the University of Antwerp as valorisation manager at the Antwerp Drug Discovery Network. During his scientific period, he co-authored more than 60 scientific publications and he was co-inventor on 9 patent applications.

Laura joined ASTP in September 2016 Laura is responsible for managing the headquarters of this pan-European association of knowledge transfer professionals, with members across industry, academia and other stakeholders in the innovation landscape. She works with the Board to develop and then implement strategies to advance the objectives of the association. A Law graduate from the University of Glasgow, Laura's professional life has concentrated on the knowledge transfer sector where she has gained extraordinary experience as the Head of Licensing at: The University of Edinburgh, Leiden University Medical Center and Leiden University. Laura now lives in the Netherlands and travels extensively across Europe promoting the work of ASTP and raising the profile of knowledge transfer professionals at the highest levels of Europe's political and academic life.

Laura is a graduate in Biology from the University of Turin and she received a PhD in Neuroscience at the New York University Medical Center, after which she moved as a postdoctoral fellow to the EMBL in Heidelberg and then in Monterotondo, Rome. After working successfully as a research scientist in the USA, France, and Germany, she joined the Policlinico of Milan in 2007. There she was instrumental in setting up the Technology Transfer Office and managing IPR protection, exploitation strategies, industry networking and spin-off creation. She moved to the innovation sector bridging academic life science research to the biotech/pharmaceutical industry to help generate new products for medical patients and the community at large. She is a recognised TT professional (RTTP), a member of AICIPI, and has served as a board member of Netval, Italy's national association.

Michel Morant has been the Managing Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office of the University of Liege and the Hospital, from 1998 till August 2021. With about 45 staff members, more than 150 spin off companies created, 20 licences a year, the ULiege Interface is today one of the more active KTO of Belgium. He is RTTP and CLP registered, and member of international associations as Curie, AUTM, IASP, TII, ASTP. He has been President of Proton Europe, Chair of the NAAC in ASTP, and is the immediate Past-President of LIEU, the Belgian association for knowledge transfer. Noeleen O'Hara

Noeleen joined ASTP in March 2017 A native Scot, Noeleen cut her teeth in broadcast journalism during 10 years in Glasgow. As new digital media emerged, her curiosity for a good story and new technology led her to work for new high-tech start ups developing cross-platform content for multi-media developers. Matters of the heart led Noeleen to set up home in the Netherlands where she established a small English language editing business while caring for her two small children. As they grew so did her ambition to return to full-time employment. Drawing on her experience she has spent the last decade developing and executing communications strategies for various third-sector organisations. If you have something to say or share with the ASTP community or the wider KT ecosystem, contact Noeleen. She runs the ASTP website, social media channels, internal and external communications and is always happy to hear from the community. Tom Flanagan

Tom leads innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise development, consulting and knowledge transfer at NovaUCD, Ireland's premier incubator/accelerator. NovaUCD has supported over 360 entrepreneurs attract over 760m investments to create thousands of jobs. He recently established Ireland's first in-Hospital Knowledge Transfer Offices in St Vincent's and The Mater Hospital and was invited by Vodafone and Ericsson to develop the nationwide 5G Accelerator Programme. Tom is on the Advisory Board of the EIF funded Atlantic Bridge University Fund supporting investments in innovative start-ups from university research in Ireland. He has also previously served on the founding boards of several high-tech start-up companies including DecaWave and served on the board of the Dublin City Enterprise Board setting strategy and approving grants and investments in over 200 start-ups.
