Amanda Barmore

Amanda Barmore serves as the Business Development and Marketing Manager for C&I Engineering in addition to maintaining her role as Project Manager for select client sites. Amanda has 15 years of experience providing engineering and project management support for projects, starting as a Process Engineer then moving into her current role through the Project Engineering and Project Management groups. She holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Louisville and is a certified Project Management Professional. Amanda enjoys combining her customer-focused nature with her strong knowledge of all facets of C&I to provide to build partnerships with all our clients. Outside of C&I, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and cooking & baking for friends and family.

Chris Seelbach

"For me, the most rewarding aspect of working for C&I is working with people from many different backgrounds to achieve a common goal." Chris Seelbach is the Information Services Manager at C&I Engineering and is responsible for the Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) utilized by C&I. Chris has a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky. Chris is a certified Project Management Professional with 35 years of experience including electrical engineering design and supervision, manufacturing operations and maintenance supervision, engineering management, project management, and PMIS development, testing, rollout, and support.

Chris Sergent

Job Titles:
  • Catlettsburg Site Manager
Chris wears many hats as the Site Engineering Manager for C&I's Catlettsburg Office, handling most of the day-to-day operations of this location. Chris joined C&I in 2007 as a Project Engineer, a position he continues to hold today, dedicated primarily to small projects at the Catlettsburg Refinery. Chris is a lifelong resident of West Virginia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a Project Management Professional certification. Chris has nearly 28 years of industrial experience that includes pressure relief systems design, Process Safety Management, air quality permitting across a variety of industries throughout the state of West Virginia, and project engineering roles in the chemical and refining industries. Outside of the office, Chris spends much of his time with his wife, Jill, and their three girls on the family horse farm. Chris is extremely proud of his daughters. His oldest, Chloe, is a Marshall University graduate and a professional violinist and fiddler. His younger two daughters, Hattie and Lexi, study pre-med at Ole Miss. His summers are filled with BBQing by the pool with family and friends. Chris also enjoys competing in online iRacing competitions in his auto racing simulator.

Cindy Erickson

"Our role is to listen, question, and understand the risks, critical success factors, scope, constraints, and cost basis of our individual clients' projects, and then objectively deliver the estimates, schedules and cash flows in the methods and formats our clients need to be successful." Cindy has over 40 years continued experience in the construction and engineering industries, including estimating, planning, consulting, project controls and reporting, and project and program management. Cindy is a founding member and past president of the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and completed her Economics degree at East Carolina University and the University of Louisville. She is also a member of the Aspen ICARUS (estimating software) Steering Committee. Cindy manages a diverse Project Controls team by leveraging an extensive background in capital funding estimating preparation, detailed scheduling, cash flow projections, earned value management, and collaboration with client project management. Prior to joining C&I in 1987, Cindy served the construction industry as an officer and management team member for a commercial general contractor, and as a construction reporter for an international publishing firm. Cindy believes that our clients are facing unprecedented pressures to deliver project cost and schedule information swiftly and accurately to management. These estimates, schedules and cash flows drive business decisions, set expectations, and can impact individual careers. She understands that best practice demands we deliver this project information as collaborators and project advocates with our clients.

Cliff Speedy

Cliff Speedy is the Executive Directory of Projects at C&I Engineering, Kentucky's largest industrial engineering services company. He has served in many roles in his 30+ years at C&I Engineering, ranging from a cooperative student to a senior project manager and now an executive. This experience has solidified in him a belief that C&I's greatest asset is its people. There is not another such group of hard-working, intelligent, client-focused people in the business. In his various roles, Cliff has leadership positions on numerous large projects in various industries. Some of his projects include: life-critical safety systems in a refinery; an aseptic juice processing facility; a complete mash house renovation at a historic Kentucky's distillery; and a green-field plastics manufacturing facility. Cliff is a graduate of the University of Louisville, a licensed Controls Engineer, a certified Project Management Professional, and has served on several local boards.

Clyde Smith II

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Clyde Smith II is a proud Louisiana native who is currently a Project Manager at our Houston office. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2010. While in school, he threw shot put and discus as a member of the Track and Field Team, became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and served as the president of the National Pan Hellenic Council for the university. After graduation, he started his professional career at ExxonMobil where he served as a Mechanical Contact Engineer responsible for the day to day mechanical/maintenance issues for the Sulfur, Clean Gasoline, and Pipestills units. After his time at ExxonMobil, he found employment with Marathon Petroleum where he was an Area Engineer, responsible for base maintenance and small projects for the Coker, Sulfur, HF Alky, FCCU, and Crude units. He was also the Engineering TAR Coordinator and completed a short stint as a Maintenance Foreman for the FCCU. In 2018, he moved to Houston and joined C&I, bringing a wealth of first hand industry experience with him. In his spare time, he enjoys mentoring and is a fitness enthusiast who is currently training to do a one-armed pull-up. If you ask Clyde or anyone who knows him, you will hear it said that he has never met a stranger. He has a personality that will fill up a room and a unique laugh that goes with it! His natural gravitation toward helping others coupled with his client experience creates strong relationships because he not only knows what C&I provides, he also knows first-hand what you as a client are expecting. Additionally, his diverse nature and genuine interest in people allows him to connect with individuals of all backgrounds.

Colton McCance

Colton is the Manager of Information Technology here at C&I. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Economics in 2014. He has been at C&I for about six years, beginning as a level 1 Tech, working his way up through Systems Admin positions, and finally into his current role. He believes that Information Technology here at C&I is client-centric, so his focus stays on communication and ownership.

Daniel Lewis

Daniel has a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Louisville. A Licensed Professional Engineer and a Project Management Professional, he has more than 15 years experience working in industrial plants to provide safe and effective engineering solutions. He started as an engineering co-op in the Power & Controls department and worked his way up to Support Engineer, Lead Engineer, Project Engineer and now Project Manager, since 2018. When not in the office he thoroughly enjoys hiking and traveling to the mountains or the beach.

Dave Schmitt

"The most rewarding thing about working at C&I is hiring co-op and graduate engineering students, providing them with mentoring, and watching them become talented and highly respected engineers." Dave is the Power and Controls Department Manager and has over thirty years of engineering experience. He began his career working for the automotive, pharmaceutical, and consumer electronics manufacturing industries. Later in his career, he was the Electrical Engineering Manager for a systems integrator. Since joining C&I in 2006, he has worked as a Senior Power and Controls Engineer, Supervising Engineer, and was appointed the Chief Power and Controls Engineer in 2012. Dave is a registered professional engineer in multiple states. He worked as a bicycle mechanic and service manager to pay his way through school, ultimately earning both a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Louisville.

David Mann

Having stepped right into managing research projects in 1985, Senior Project Manager David Mann has 36 years of Project Engineering/Project Management experience. 33 years of this experience has been with C&I Engineering, where he has successfully managed over 2,000,000 man hours on industrial projects. David Mann has been involved in the development of Project Management practices and procedures throughout his career. He has experienced the evolution that these Project Management roles and responsibilities have gone through, both within the company and throughout the industry. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree and is a registered Professional Engineer. He joined the Project Management Institute (PMI) in 1999 and has held the Certificate of Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2009. When away from work, David enjoys traveling to visit the kids, taking care of gardens, and wood working and metal fabrication projects. This includes designing and fabricating equipment carts and a unique setters eye/blocking board combination for the local high school volleyball team.

Gregg Fowler

Gregg was appointed Executive Director of Engineering for C&I in 2012 and elected Chairman of the company's Board of Directors in 2014. He served previously as C&I's Chief Power & Controls Engineer since 1996, and as a director on the company's board since 2000. Operationally, Gregg is responsible for ensuring C&I provides high-value solutions to our clients. Gregg is committed to employee ownership, and took a leadership role in developing C&I's ESOP in 2004. C&I's employees' commitment to our clients, and to each other, finds its roots in our ownership culture. As a licensed engineer, Gregg has over 35 years' of design, department management and project management experience. His previous positions include Electrical & Instrument Department Manager for the Richmond, VA office of CRS Sirrine Engineers (now Jacobs Engineering Group), and senior engineer for Virginia Power (now Dominion Energy).

Jason Cullens

Jason Cullens, Project Manager, has over 19 years of experience in engineering design and project management on capital projects for the refining, petrochemical, renewable fuels, and consumer packaged goods industries. Jason received his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Kentucky and M.B.A. from the University of Louisville. As a Project Manager, Jason has served multiple customers, leading teams on a wide variety of project types and sizes, from small plant upgrades to completely new process facilities. Prior to being a Project Manager, Jason served as a Lead Mechanical Engineer and Project Engineer for C&I. Outside of C&I, Jason enjoys spending time with family and friends, spending time outdoors, riding bikes, taking walks, home improvement projects, and keeping up with his yard. Jason drives project teams to deliver excellent results by building strong relationships with customers, striving to understand each customer's unique needs and objectives, maintaining open lines of communication, fostering teamwork and accountability, and embracing challenges.

John Droste

John has over 30 years of experience including 20 years within C&I Engineering. He started as an electrical engineer in the Power and Controls group. He has worked as a Project Engineer, and since 2007, as a Project Manager. In his career at C&I Engineering, John has primarily worked in the refining industry. He has also executed projects in the chemical and food and beverage industries. John finds C&I's value of professional relationships with customers as a key to C&I's success. A true approach to team partnering has resulted in many projects with repeat customers. John holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with certifications as registered Professional Engineer and as a Project Management Professional.

Keith Schweitzer

Keith Schweitzer is a Senior Project Manager at C&I Engineering with over twenty nine years of experience in the consulting engineering business. He joined C&I in 2000 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2013. Keith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisville. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (Civil), is certified with the Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB), and is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP). He has held the operational title of Project Manager since 2012. Prior to that assignment, he served as a Project Engineer since 2006. Previously he served as a design engineer in the Civil/Structural group. Keith was a design engineer for Tetra Tech, PDR, and BTM prior to joining C&I.

Kevin Crabtree

Kevin is a graduate from the University of Louisville, a seasoned Mechanical Engineer and currently, the Mechanical Engineering Department Manager. Kevin's 40+ years of diverse experience includes roles in Plant Engineering, Power Industry Equipment Design, Project Engineer and Mechanical Consulting Engineering. His skillset includes: Mechanical Integrity, Process, Fixed and Rotating Equipment Specification / Selection, HVAC, and Piping System Mechanical Analysis. Kevin is married with 4 adult kids. He enjoys camping, canoeing, fishing and riding his recumbent trike. Kevin is an active volunteer with local charities including Habitat for Humanity, Casting for Recovery and other similar endeavors that allows him to give back to the community.

Kurt Woods

Kurt has been the Controller at C&I Engineering since October 2017. He earned his BSBA from the University of Louisville and an MBA from Indiana University School of Business. His professional career started 28 years ago and he has advanced through the ranks by working at several companies that span several different industries. In his free time Kurt enjoys being with family and friends playing games, grilling, and traveling. He thoroughly enjoys forming close relationships with his C&I colleagues and attributes his love for the company to the great people he works with.

Mike Spear

Mike Spear is the Manager of Procurement and Contracts and moonlights as the Manager of Facilities. Since receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from San Diego State University, Mike has spent 40 years in the Procurement and Contracts arena including over 25 years at C&I. Mike has bid, negotiated terms and managed purchase orders and contracts for everything from nuclear reactors to janitorial services to pipe valve and fittings. He has completed Master's Programs in Contract Formation and Administration from the George Washington University, The University of South Carolina, and the University of Louisville, which have provided a solid foundation to complete the wide variety of work that crosses his Departments' collective desks. The procurement variety at C&I reminds him of growing up in Southern California and starting the day on a surf board, migrating the golf course for the afternoon and then finishing up the day night skiing in the local mountains!

Mitch Kerns

Mitchell is Civil & Structural Engineering Department Manager and also oversees the 3D Laser Scanning group. He holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio University. He is a registered professional engineer in over 15 states and active member in the ECC Future Leaders program. He started at C&I in 2008, working as a support engineer and then lead engineer on several successful refinery and distillery client teams. In 2018, he became the manager of the Civil & Structural Engineering Department and started C&I's 3D Laser Scanning group. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports and vacationing at the beach.

Nathan Mayberry

"It is a truly satisfying feeling to receive feedback that a design went in smoothly during construction and that Operations is happy with the layout, functionality, and performance of the system." Nathan is the Plant Design Department Manager at C&I. He has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in multiple states. Having served in multiple roles as a Mechanical Lead, Project Engineer, Quality Coordinator, and Department Chief, Nathan finds great satisfaction in developing practical solutions that safely implement engineering principles in an easily constructed manner. His most rewarding project was for a refinery Crude Unit revamp which involved specifying multiple new and modified pieces of equipment and designing the associated high temperature piping systems, all of which had to be located within the tight confines of an existing process unit. Outside of work, Nathan enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid runner. Nathan leads the Plant Design group to understand that quality layout of piping and equipment ensures that multiple factors are considered during design. The designer must ensure that the system meets the process layout requirements, that the system can be practically built (e.g. constructability), that the system can be easily maintained and operated (e.g. maintainability, operability), that the system components are properly specified and arranged to withstand the pressure/temperature requirements (e.g. mechanical integrity), and that the system is dimensionally accurate so that installation proceeds smoothly without fit-up busts or interferences.

Ray Roberson

"Each and every employee takes their Safety responsibility for themselves and others around them seriously. That mentality matches so well with our overall ownership culture at C&I." Ray is the Executive Director of Operations & Safety and has oversight responsibility for HR, IT, Facilities, Accounting, Procurement and the company's Safety program. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He came to C&I as a structural engineer in 1988 from Ashland Oil in Catlettsburg, KY. Ray is a registered Professional Engineer (PE), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and an Associate Safety Professional (ASP). He has worked his way through the ranks at C&I from structural engineer to Project Engineer, to Chief Project Engineer, to his current Executive position. Alongside those duties, he has also served the past eleven (11) years on the C&I Board of Directors and our ESOP Plan Committee, with multiple stints as an ESOP Trustee over that period of time. He has also served as the Corporate Secretary for the past seven (7) years. He enjoys everything related to the outdoors including working his farm, fly fishing, hunting, backpacking, hiking, and snow-skiing.

Rich Heite

Rich is the Process Engineering Department Manager with C&I Engineering, who brings years of operational and design experience to the company. A 1976 graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NCE), he began his career with Gulf Oil at the Philadelphia Refinery. He subsequently worked in various refinery positions in both operations management and process engineering at several refining companies before joining C&I in 1991. Outside of work, Rich enjoys building computers, taking care of the family's Siamese cats, and photography. He recently expanded on his life-long interest in astronomy by acquiring a telescope and exploring deep space objects thru astrophotography. Rich is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Shea Gossett

Shea Gossett is a Project Manager for C&I handling projects across several industries. Shea joined C&I in 2007 and worked as a Civil/Structural Engineer and Project Engineer prior to becoming a Project Manager. Shea holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky, is a certified Project Management Professional, and is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Kentucky. When not spending time with his wife, daughter and son, Shea enjoys woodworking, playing golf, hunting and watching football.

Thomas Wadell

As Project Engineering Department Manager, Thomas Wadell manages the Project Engineering and Engineering Technician Departments. He has thirty-seven years of experience in project management, project engineering, engineering design, equipment specification, and procurement. Fields of experience include refining, plant/warehouse layout, dough production, bulk ingredient handling, minor ingredient systems, water purification, ozonation systems, washing systems, refrigeration systems, material handling systems/equipment, equipment installation, and building construction and renovation. With his favorite quote being, "If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn't thinking." (Gen. G. Patton), Thomas appreciates diverse approaches and client involvement to steer projects to successful completion. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Louisville and has earned his Project Management Professional certification from PMI.

Tom Johnson

Tom is the Site Engineering Manager for C&I's Houston Office and a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer. Prior to joining C&I, Tom worked for several different companies, gaining experience as a design engineer, a department manager, and a site manager. He joined C&I in 2012 as a Supervising Civil/Structural Engineer in our Catlettsburg Office. In 2016, he was one of the first two employees to relocate from Kentucky to Texas to open the new office. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. He has nearly 30 years of engineering experience in industrial applications. Although he has spent most of his career working as an engineering consultant, he also has experience working directly for a uranium enrichment plant and an industrial construction company. His experience spans industries including Refining, Chemical, Steel, Nuclear and more. In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, serving as part of the leadership team for his local church, and attending University of Houston football and basketball games.

Tyler Davidson

Tyler Davidson is a Project Manager at C&I and manages projects across multiple industries. He has an Economics degree from Centre College, is a certified project management professional and also holds Six Sigma Green and Yellow Belt Certifications. Tyler has 15 years experience in the EPC industry, working for 5 years at Bechtel prior to joining C&I in 2011. Tyler has worked as a Project Controls Professional and Project Coordinator prior to becoming a Project Manager. Tyler enjoys spending his free time with his wife and 3 daughters at the lake. He also enjoys golf, woodworking and grilling. Tyler believes that throughout a project, we must fully integrate with our clients team to ensure we're on the same page every step of the way, creating trust and accountability, and delivering an end product that everyone is proud of.

Zach Gostling

A Charlotte native, Zach graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. Upon moving to Louisville, KY, he worked for MD2U as the Benefits and Payroll Administrator and a member of their Finance Team. He joined C&I in 2017 as the Benefits Administrator and has since acquired his SHRM-CP certification, became HR Generalist, and now HR Manager. He has also taken on the roll as Wellness Coordinator, Employee's Club Treasurer, Charitable Activities Coordinator and has participated on C&I's Diversity and Inclusion Council. Outside of work, Zach enjoys playing golf, ultimate Frisbee, BBQing, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
