Shea Butter

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. It is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion and its benefits are endless. Shea butter is edible and is eaten in some African countries as well as applied to the skin to protect it during the dry season as a moisturiser and as a sunblocking lotion, as some of its components have capacity to absorb ultraviolet radiation. Shea butter is reported to have anti-inflammatory, emollient and humectant properties and is an ideal ingredient to use in natural products.
