Cynthia A. Toth, MD was invited to join the IRRF Board of Directors in 2019 …<\/h5>\n … and assists in grant-funding determinations. Dr. Toth is a professor of ophthalmology at Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina. She is the Joseph A.C. Wadsworth Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology, Vice Chair of Clinical Research and is a professor of biomedical engineering.<\/p>\n Dr. Toth specializes in the evaluation and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal disease in infants, children and adults, and in novel research resulting in the clinical application of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging in surgery and at the bedside. Dr. Ting is the current Associate Professor in Ophthalmology with Duke-National University Singapore Medical School in Singapore. Graduated as the SingHealth Residency Valedictorian in 2016 (across all specialties), he started his vitreo-fellowship training as an Associate Consultant in the Singapore National Eye Center. In 2017, he was chosen as the US-ASEAN Fulbright Scholar, representing Singapore to visit Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Applied Physics Laboratory to deepen his understanding on the use of artificial intelligence, big data analytics and telemedicine in the field of ophthalmology. In collaboration with several leading eye centers globally (USA, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore), Assoc. Luis Arias

After a Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, USA, Dr. Arias return to the University of Barcelona where he is now Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. His main areas of interest are age-related macular degeneration (AMD), pathologic myopia, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macular surgery and retinal detachment. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, as Ophthalmology, Retina and The British Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Arias has also authored many chapters of books about maculopathies. Recently, he has worked as editor of a handbook of retina and has edited an update of anti-VEGF therapy in choroidal-retinal disorders. He has served as principal investigator in many clinical trials evaluating photodynamic therapy and antiangiogenic drugs for the management of macular diseases. Dr. Arias serves on the Editorial Board of the journal, Archivos de la Sociedad Española de Oftalmologia" and as a Board Member of SERV (Spanish Society of Retina and Vitreous).

Matthew Simunovic

Matthew Simunovic is Professor Ophthalmology & Visual Science at the Save Sight Institute where he leads the Retinal Disease and Rescue Group. Additionally, he is a senior consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Sydney Eye Hospital and The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Australia, where he sub-specializes in surgery and diseases of the retina. Professor Simunovic's research interests include emerging treatments for retinal diseases, experimental vitreoretinal surgery and visual psychophysics. He was the first Australian ophthalmologist to be awarded a Career Development Award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness, USA. Dr. Simunovic's clinical practice focuses on vitreoretinal surgery (including small gauge vitrectomy, scleral buckling and macular surgery), medical retinal disorders and complex cataract surgery in which vitreoretinal intervention may be required (including sutured and non-sutured scleral fixation techniques for intraocular lenses).
