Ashley Campbell

Ashley graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Belmont University after completing her BS in Exercise Physiology at Ohio University. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy as well as a Registered International Sports Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Ashley has worked extensively with athletes at all levels including PGA, NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. She enjoys utilizing a variety of manual therapy techniques in clinical practice including IASTM and Trigger Point Dry Needling which she feels are a great adjunct to joint mobilizations and corrective exercise in developing a well-rounded and effective plan of care, especially in hip patients. Ashley lectures nationally and internationally on topics ranging from hip rehabilitation, to injury prevention and functional movement, including speaking at the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy. She is a lead instructor with Advances in Clinical Education, and holds an Adjunct Faculty position with Belmont University's School of Physical Therapy in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. She serves as the managing editor of the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy and has won awards for leadership and clinical skills from Belmont University and the APTA's Sports Physical Therapy Section. Barb Hoogenboom

Barb was the first Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist in West Michigan, she has since been recertified twice by the ABPTS, most recently in 2013. She has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1988. Barb enjoys teaching about all aspects of physical therapy, intervention, and movement to entry-level DPT students, practicing clinicians, and sports residents, in her varied roles as an educator. Barb maintains a clinical practice, treating athletes and clients of all ages and abilities. Hallmarks of Barb's practice include high level diagnostics/differential diagnosis, innovative applications of therapeutic exercise, based upon functional movement assessment and treatment approaches, and application of dry needling, functional musculoskeletal ultrasound, and biomechanical analysis. Barb enjoys clinical research, and has authored many research and clinical commentary articles on the female athlete, nutrition, functional movement, and other sports physical therapy topics, and has contributed to14 textbooks and 7 Home Study Courses on various topics. Her most recent research interest includes electromyographic and 3-dimensional motion analysis of fundamental movements. She is the lead editor of the therapeutic exercise textbook entitled "Musculoskeletal Interventions: Techniques for Intervention, 3 rd edition" published in 2014. Brandon Gilliam

Dr. Gilliam worked full time in the clinical setting utilizing and refining the SFMA evaluation and treatment process with patients of all ages from 2005-2013. From 2012-2014 he served as adjunct faculty at Belmont University's School of Physical Therapy where he focused on the SFMA, orthopedics, and sports medicine. His driving passion has always been maximizing sports performance through improved functional movement, and in late 2013 he went into business for himself as a consultant for professional and collegiate teams as well as individual professional athletes and entertainers. Through his consultation work Brandon was offered and accepted a position with the Miami Heat as their Assistant Athletic Trainer and Director of Rehabilitation in September 2014. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the SFMA. Danny D. Smith

Danny D. Smith, PT, DHSc, is the Founder, President, and CEO of Physical Therapy Services, P.A. with offices located in Elizabethton, TN and Johnson City, TN. Dr. Smith has been actively involved in the evaluation, treatment, and return to play of athletes in the Northeast Tennessee region since 1977 when he became the volunteer sports physical therapist for the Elizabethton School System, a position he continues today. Physical Therapy Services, P.A. houses the only Sports Physical Therapy Residency in Tennessee. Smith has served numerous capacities within the Sports Physical Therapy Section including, Secretary, Member-at-Large as well as the first Emergency Response SIG chair. He has lectured over 200 times nationally and internationally and is currently and Emergency Medical Response Instructor Trainer. His specialty area is in the pre-hospital care of the injured athlete. He has received the "Turner A. Blackburn Lifetime Achievement Award' as well as the Ron Peyton Award which is the highest award given by the Sport Section. Dr. Smith currently serves as adjunct profession at Belmont University PT Program, East Tennessee State University PT Program, and Milligan College. Additionally, Smith has served as a Physical Therapist/ Athletic Trainer for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and remained in Atlanta and served as the Director of the Sports Medicine Center for the 1996 Paralympic Games. Jason L Robinson

Jason is the lead Physical Therapist for Midwest Orthopedic Institute (MOI) at the Sandwich Clinic located in Sandwich, IL. His primary responsibility includes the direct patient care of a wide variety of patient types but he specializes in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, and knee pathologies. He is also owner of Sport and Biomechanical Innovations (SBI), a business focused on enhancing the performance and health of throwing athletes of all levels. Jason has been fortunate to work closely with professional baseball over the past 5 years, having coordinated the off-season conditioning and training for a number of MLB pitchers. He has applied this knowledge and experience more locally at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels and is a consultant with the Northern Illinois University athletic training department. More generally, Jason is an overall movement enthusiast, having spent the last 3 years expanding his study of movement disciplines such as olympic lifting, kettlebell training, and gymnastics and incorporates these principles into his treatment plans and training programs. He also uses movement screens such as the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) and SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) to better quantify movement and dysfunction. Joshua Satterlee

Joshua Satterlee, DC is a Chiropractic Physician skilled in rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. He has worked with golfers at the high school, collegiate, and professional level, as well as the typical Country Club golfer. He loves helping golfers eliminate their pain and add significant distance to their drives by carefully analyzing their body for power leaks and tight spots. After developing the solution to fix these problems, many golfers typically see gains of 20 yards or more off the tee. Dr. Satterlee grew up in Simi Valley, California at Wood Ranch Golf Club before attending college in beautiful Bozeman, Montana at Montana State University, where he studied Biomechanics.

Michael L. Voight

Dr. Michael Voight has had a distinguished career as both an educator and clinical physical therapist for over 25 years. Throughout his career he has not only become one of the leading authorities in the rehabilitation of orthopedic and sports injuries, he has worked tirelessly to advance the knowledge of others as a clinician and educator by making significant contributions to the literature. Throughout his career, Dr. Voight has served as a Team Physical Therapist in the NFL and NBA, and has consulted with various teams in MLB, NHL and the MLS. He has worked at the Olympic Training Center, Olympic Festivals, Pan Am Games, Olympic Games, and has had the opportunity to travel with various Olympic and national teams. His role with the advisory board of the Titleist Performance Institute allows him to consult on the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of golf injuries with many PGA Tour Professionals. Dr. Voight has lectured extensively at various conferences, symposiums, and congresses both nationally and internationally on a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine topics. Dr. Voight is a principle reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and actively resides on the editorial boards of several different journals. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy. He has authored over 75 papers, textbook chapters on various topics, and has written three textbooks on functional exercise. In 1996, 2000, and 2009 he received the Distinguished Educator Award from the Sports Physical Therapy Section making him the only person to have received this award multiple times. Dr. Voight was honored again in 2010, when he was presented the inaugural SPTS "Lifetime Excellence in Education" award. Dr. Voight is a clinician, educator, and researcher who is regarded by his peers as one of the leading musculoskeletal physical therapists in the world. In 1997, he was presented the SPTS distinguished service award for his dedication to service. In 2008, he was presented the President's award for his career of service to the SPTS and was also presented the prestigious Ron Peyton award for career achievement. In 2010, Dr. Voight was elected into the SPTS Hall of Fame for a lifetime of excellence in sports physical therapy. His many accomplishments were again validated in 2011 when the American Physical Therapy Association presented Dr. Voight with their highest honor, naming him a Fellow of the APTA. He remains extremely active in patient care, education, and research activities and his lectures are both well attended and receive excellent reviews based upon his innovative presentation of the scientific evidence and the interactive fun approach to teaching. Paul Drumheller

Paul has been accused of being a continuous education junkie more than once. He has taken little pieces from several people and has formed his own treatment strategies. These strategies combined with his knowledge of several sports, has allowed him to address the root cause of the problem with his active patients. He has worked as director of conditioning for various youth soccer and volleyball clubs and has a passion for developing proper movement strategies in younger athletes. Paul has spoken on various topics at the Washington State, and Regional, Strength & Conditioning conferences, the Washington State Athletic Trainer's conferences and the APTA's Combined Sections Meetings. He was a primary speaker for the course titled "When the Feet Hit the Ground Everything Changes." As an instructor for the NASMI's course "Lower Quarter Management of Overuse and Traumatic Injuries to the Running Athlete," Paul enjoys keeping up to date with the current research to share with his course attendees as well as practice the newer ideas on his patients. Robyn Smith

Robyn currently works at an out-patient orthopedic clinic The Center for Physical Rehabilitation in Grand Rapids, MI, where her responsibilities include direct patient care as well as management of the sports medicine program. Her main focus in her clinical hours includes working with athletes at all levels of competition, especially focusing on the running athlete. She has had the opportunity to work with recreational and competitive runners from the middle school to Olympic level including a previous Boston Marathon winner. Robyn has been actively involved in her community serving as a volunteer board member for Girls on the Run, consultant for Merrell footwear, and providing educational seminars in running and triathlete injury prevention. Robyn has lectured nationally and internationally on topics including ACL injury prevention, foot and ankle mechanics, running mechanics and injury prevention, and SFMA. She has been a lab instructor at Grand Valley State University in multiple orthopedic classes and guest lectured for the Athletic Training program. Robyn received the Emerging Leader award in 2007. Robyn has co-authored a book chapter on The Physically Active Female and SPTS home study course Spine injuries in Sports.
