David Langille

David Langille is a native Nova Scotian who graduated from Dal Univ Faculty of Medicine in Halifax Nova Scotia in 1984. Dr. Langille subsequently emigrated to the U.S. where he practiced in Alabama prior to completing his residency in Emergency Medicine at The Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in 1991. After Dr. Langille's residency, he subsequently partnered with the Emergency Physicians of Tidewater until late 2005 then later with Chesapeake Emergency Physicians where he was a contributing partner for the next 7 years. During this time Dr. Langille and his wife have enjoyed living and participating in the Virginia Beach community where they have reared their two, now adult children. Dr. Langille is a lifelong sportsman who loves the outdoors, golf and fishing. His professional interests extend to wellness, longevity, and disease prevention.

David W. Munter

Dr. Munter has been a resident of the Tidewater area for over 25 years. A retired Navy Captain, he received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY then was awarded his MD degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He subsequently earned an MBA from the College of William and Mary. He served in a wide variety of assignments in the Navy with a distinguished career including as the head of Emergency Medicine for the entire Navy, the Director of Medical Services at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, and the head of all intern training for the Navy. He has received multiple military and civilian awards including the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the American College of Emergency Medicine National Faculty Teaching Award. He has published numerous textbook chapters in Emergency Medicine, and is still active with the National Board of Medical Examiners, which administers the national licensing exam for US physicians. Since his retirement, he has worked as a clinician in Emergency Medicine, still teaching and writing. He has seen the growing epidemic of opiate addiction and the toll it has taken on so many people in his work in the Emergency Department, including several tragedies, and this has led him to work at Right Path helping patients recover from their addiction. He has been married for 34 years and has 3 grown daughters, and enjoys college sports, family time and is an avid reader.

Dr. Kathleen Anderson

Dr. Kathleen (Katie) Anderson grew up in Virginia Beach, graduating from the College of William and Mary in 1985 where she met her husband who was in law school at the time. She taught Biology at Princess Anne High School for five years prior to attending Eastern Virginia Medical School where she graduated with her Medical Degree in 1994. She subsequently completed her residency at EVMS in 1998. She has been a partner with Emergency Physicians of Tidewater and on the faculty at EVMS for nineteen years and is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. She lives in Norfolk with her husband, two children, and an assortment of pets. Having treated many patients in the ER who struggle with opiate addiction, Dr. Anderson finds working at Right Path very gratifying in bridging the gap between this struggle and recovery. Dr. Melissa Hill

  • Professional Counselor
Dr. Melissa Hill is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor who grew up in Virginia. She attended Regent University where she received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and Master of Arts in Community Counseling. Dr. Hill's professional experience includes both inpatient and outpatient treatment for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. She worked previously with Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, Norfolk Community Services Boards, and in private practice settings. Dr. Hill also has several years of experience providing clinical supervision for Residents in Counseling and graduate level interns. Dr. Hill currently resides in Chesapeake with her husband and two-year-old son. Dr. Hill enjoys spending time with her family and is looking forward to the arrival of their second child in October. She joined Right Path's team in April 2017.

Frances Williams

Dr. Williams is board-certified in family medicine and obesity medicine, serving as a hospitalist, bariatrician, and wound care physician. Her many years of experience as a hospice medical director treating many types of pain has advanced her understanding of narcotics-their proper use and misuse. She earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Science Center, and completed her residency at Louisiana State University. A true "country doctor," she resides on a horse farm on the Eastern Shore, where her commitment to her community and thirst for knowledge has led her to practice in various fields of medicine. The ever-increasing opiate epidemic has called her to join her longtime colleague, Dr. Sergey Zhitar, Medical Director at Right Path Treatment Centers. Dr. Williams is devoted to helping to provide the highest quality treatment to assist patients build a foundation toward lasting sobriety.

Fred Nicolas Thomas III

Dr. Fred N. Thomas III is a Virginia native. He received his doctor of medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at East Carolina University. He has practiced primary care and internal medicine on the peninsula since 2006. He joined Right Path Treatment Centers in 2016.

Gill Schmidt

Born in Kentucky but raised in Michigan, Dr. Schmidt graduated from Albion College in Albion, Michigan and then Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit in 1980. A Navy scholarship brought him to Virginia where he trained in Internal Medicine at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Five years were spent in the US Navy including serving as Medical Officer, USS TEXAS, CGN-39 and is a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal for his service in Emergency Services. Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Schmidt has worked at numerous hospitals in the Hampton Roads area but primarily at Sentara CarePlex and Port Warwick. Dr. Schmidt has also worked as a Staff ED Physician at the Hampton VA Medical Center. Dr. Schmidt also graduated from William and Mary, College of Law in 1988, and during his career has both practiced law and served as a Vice-President with Sentara. In his free time, Dr. Schmidt dedicates his passion as an avid athlete, believing that physical fitness is integral to good health and well-being. Focused now on wellness and prevention, Dr. Schmidt joined the staff of Right Path in 2015 and has brought his experience and wisdom to help patients in their fight against addiction.

Leigh E. Watlington

She received her undergraduate degree from MIT and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts. While in residency in Detroit, Dr. Watlington got first-hand experience dealing with patients and family members that were dealing with the opioid crisis. Dr. Watlington has been with Right Path since 2016, endeavoring to help relieve the suffering of those with opiate dependence. Outside of working as a physician, Dr. Watlington enjoys current events and is an avid reader.

Nadine Thompson-Carlton

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Dr Thompson is board certified in Emergency Medicine. She emigrated to the US in 1991, where she later obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary. She was awarded her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and subsequently completed residency at East Carolina University. She currently practices in the Emergency Department for Riverside Medical Group and Lewis-Gale Regional Health System. Dr. Thompson resides on the Eastern Shore and holds medical licenses in Both Virginia and North Carolina. While working in the Emergency Department, Dr. Thompson has witnessed the effects of opioid addiction, and is now dedicated to helping patients battle addiction with Right Path Treatment Centers. During her free time, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time at the beach, camping, and watching movies.
