Our journey started in 2013 and, as with any, had some stumbling blocks along the way, but we are incredibly please to be where we are now... The property built in 1880 was originally Bayley and Sons Iron Mongers, with the upper stories being the School of Art, Science and Technology; later the family also operated the towns electrophone service from the property's basement. The electrophone service preceded modern radio as a telephone operated live broadcasting service sending live performances from the Pavilion and St Stephen's Church directly to the parlour. This service was operated till 1939 and was the last in the country.
