The TNU was established in 2012 as a joint Chair by the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich and forms a division of the Institute for Biomedical Engineering. The mission of the TNU is to develop and validate mathematical models that infer subject-specific disturbances of physiology and information processing in neuronal circuits from neuroimaging, electrophysiological and behavioural measures.
