WELLCONNEX - Key Persons
David Rubin, MD MSCE, the founder of Wellconnex, which provides solutions for proactive, integrated care and population health management, is the Director of Population Health Innovation for the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Director of PolicyLab and a practicing physician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). An accomplished health services researcher and professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, his current role is to align emerging contracts for a health system that sees 500,000 children annually with delivery system innovation around value and quality. He has been responsible for aligning technologic solutions to better optimize the care of patients across multiple states and practice locations. As a health services researcher, he has published extensively on the quality of services received in the nation's Medicaid program; his facility with national claims datasets and the pragmatic applications of these data to decision-making, is a unique skillset for application development in a big-data world.
Elizabeth Brooks has extensive experience leading EHR implementation programs and outcomes-driven process improvement work. Betsy has worked for 10+ years in progressive leadership roles at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), currently as the Senior Program Manager of the Population Health Innovation team. She leads the implementation of population health EHR tools, care team redesign processes, and quality improvement work across subspecialty and primary care teams at CHOP. Betsy previously led CHOP's implementation and programming efforts for the CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant Program, a multi-million- dollar federal award program focused on implementing health information technology for pediatric quality improvement projects.
Hope Haiman, MBA, has over 30 years of experience designing, developing and transforming organizations across industries and business functions to enhance performance. Hope spent 20 years at Accenture, one of the leading global professional services companies, where as a strategy consultant, she worked with executive teams of Fortune 500 companies to develop corporate, business unit and operating strategies. Hope went on to work directly for Accenture as a leader in global talent strategy, where she created new approaches
and streamlined operations to better attract, build, deploy and retain specialized talent across 50 countries. As an independent consultant, she led special projects to develop and improve effectiveness of organizations of all sizes. She was also the Executive Vice President of a national non-profit, where she oversaw all programs and operations, managed funders and worked with the Board to create strategies and plans.
Jim Gay has over 13 years of experience as a data engineer, data scientist, and analyst at pediatric health systems and insurance providers. He led the effort at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to analyze real time data from all bedside monitors and connected devices, built an award winning population discovery application that sits inside the EHR, and also holds 3 Epic certifications. He led the external data integration efforts at CHOP to bring in payor data, risk scores, and other components into the health record.
