Aimee Tolhopf - CFO

Aimee is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CAANZ) with 15 years' experience. Previously working at Deloitte as a Manager, she audited large New Zealand companies. She then moved into a senior role at BDO in the BAS division, gaining exposure to a wide variety of large-sized companies, including those in the construction industry. Aimee has managed the finances for Complete for over six years, including ensuring accurate reporting, managing the accounts team, reporting to management, producing monthly and quarterly accounts, ensuring internal controls are followed, and overseeing tax and compliance issues.

Alan Wu

Alan is a Site Manager with an extensive range of qualifications / experience in engineering, construction management, carpentry, marketing, and project management. His proficiency makes him a suitable candidate to handle complex construction projects, specifically in the retail sector that he is passionate about. Apart from his technical expertise, Alan's amiable personality with our clients and his work colleagues creates a conducive work environment. Alan is shown to be a high achiever and takes pride in his work, evidence of this is he always visits his completed retail projects and recites stories to his children of those achievements.

Alireza Mousavi

Ali emigrated to NZ from his native Iran in 2010, commencing employment as Systems & Innovation Manager for Asona Ltd - a specialist NZ manufacturer, distributor and installer of acoustic decorative wall and ceiling finishes. Ali was responsible for the development and design of new products from concept through development to installation. Ali then moved to Artiture Ltd in 2016 as Senior Project & Design Manager. Amongst his projects was the award-winning Giltrap HQ, Fisher & Paykel, DDB Group office, ARI-Panasonic and Lumino HQ fit outs to name but a few. Ali Joined Complete Construction in 2019 as Project Manager of the Harbour Eats and associated tenancies within - collectively worth over $10m.

Ammar Alshami

Ammar Alshami is a qualified Senior Project Manager. Ammar is a Jordanian citizen who holds a Bachelor degree of Civil engineering from the University of Jordan, after his graduation, he immediately joined the Royal Corps of Engineers as a Lieutenant Engineer for 3 years and then started his own interior fitout business back in Jordan, then moved to New Zealand in 2005. Previously worked with Black Interiors where he was the Site Project Manager for some significant projects, like ANZ Sylvia Park, Marsh Insurance and Amazon Offices at the Commercial Bay Tower. The ANZ tower an award winning project covered 6 floors of office fitouts including a grand stand on the level 7. Ammar has a very positive personality likes travelling, reading, Gym and music. He is a big supporter of NZ Blood Service donating blood every two weeks without fail.

Andriy Podolyan

Andriy grew up in Ukraine and trained there as a mechanic of ships engines and turbines. He's worked in the cabinetry industry for 30 years and a further 7 years within construction cabinetry. Andriy moved to New Zealand in 1998 and has spent majority of this time as a detailer for cabinet making, with notable projects in retail fit outs for Veronika Maine, Coach, Rembrandt, the Observatory Restaurant in Melbourne, the Crown Casino in Perth, and a string of Mecca Cosmetica stores across New Zealand and Australia. Andriy has great attention to detail and enjoys ensuring the accuracy of all joinery projects.

Annabelle Holland

Annabelle came to Complete from H&M where she was Department Manager, responsible for in-store operations, people management, merchandising and customer service in Australia and latterly transferred to Christchurch to help with the opening of two stores there. Annabelle was tasked by H&M to assist with the client-side Project Management, merchandising and store opening of their Riccarton store in early 2019, and then the Newmarket store at the end of 2019. Annabelle's talents and love for project management stood out and at the completion of the Newmarket store, she joined Complete, taking responsibility for the construction of Ahi restaurant in Commercial Bay. The project has proceeded well with complex services interfaces and a high standard of finish being achieved.

Ardhanari Krishnamoorthy

Ardhanari is a Quantity Surveyor originally from India with 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including 19 years as a Quantity Surveyor for various companies.

Ashween Kumar

Job Titles:
  • Factory Team Leader
Ashween learnt his cabinet making trade in Fiji and has been working in the industry since 1995. Since residing in New Zealand from 2001, Ashween has spent 15 years with Shears & Mac (6 years as a cabinet maker and 9 years as a Factory Team Leader). He then spent 2 years as a Factory Team Leader at Affin Groups before joining Complete Construction in 2017. Ashween has great attention to detail, managing the factory team and ensuring all issues are solved quickly using available resources, and all production is completed within the required timelines. During his time with Complete, Ashween has managed the factory delivery of projects such as Arora, Emirates AIAA, as well as the large-scale Harbour Eats at Commercial Bay.

Chris Aspinall

Chris originally qualified as a cabinet maker in the UK. Chris has worked in the New Zealand retail and interior fit-out industry for over 25 years and has worked the last 18 years as a Quantity Surveyor. He has been involved with retail and interior fit-outs ranging from $50k to $20m throughout Australasia. Some of his clients include Zara, Pandora, Cue, Veronika Maine, Nike, Oakley, Country Road and Relay Crown Casino, Perth. Chris also has vast experience in retail fit-outs throughout New Zealand and Australia, including JR Duty-Free, Relay, Aelia Duty-Free and The Loop Duty-Free.

Douglas Tonsic

Doug has worked as a cabinet maker from the young age of 15, having grown up and learned the trade in his father's carpentry factory in Brazil. He later became the team leader in a Brazilian factory. Doug made the move to New Zealand in early 2017 and joined Complete as a factory team leader early in 2019. He has strong attention to detail, great interpersonal relationships and is always looking ahead to plan the next steps of the project. Doug works well under pressure, thriving from challenging situations and projects. During his time with Complete, Doug has managed the factory delivery of projects such as SkyCity, Novotel and more recently Harbour Eats at Commercial Bay.

Frankie Friis

Frankie is a highly skilled Site Manager with a passion for people and continuous learning. With a National Certificate in Joinery and Carpentry from the Waikato Institute of Technology, Frankie brings years of experience and expertise to the job. While Frankie enjoys working across various industries from retail to hospitality, it's the fast-paced nature of these projects that bring out the best in him. Frankie loves to spend time with his family and being an active parent to their two young children. With a commitment to excellence, Frankie is a valuable member of the team.

Gareth Mills

Gareth's career in the construction and fit out industry started in Cape Town South Africa and extended to Auckland New Zealand. He is a certified carpenter, completing his apprenticeship with a Trade Certificate from Northlink College and has Certificate of Project Administration from the University of Cape Town. Gareth worked up through the ranks to Project Manager before setting up his own successful business in South Africa which he ran for 10 years before emigrating to NZ. Gareth has been part of our team from more than 3 years managing some of our most high-profile projects, and currently leading the Construction Team.

Gene Teauraki

Gene is a Junior QS who is currently completing his second year of study at Open Polytechnic completing a New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Level 6) with strands in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. Gene grew up in St Mary's Bay with 3 sisters and 2 brothers, he played a lot of sports and music in his teens and enjoys playing rugby in his spare time, he would also like to get into some yoga and surfing in the future to keep fit.

Greg Pritchard

Greg joined Mat and Nigel as a Director and part owner in 2018. With a career spanning more than 33 years, Greg has held management positions in all facets of the industry from Interior fit out, managing regional construction, to general management of NZ's largest Construction Company. Greg has an industry leading proven track record of developing and maintaining enduring customer relationships, building supportive and successful team cultures, and an extensive network of key relationships within the Construction industry and beyond including the major publicly listed property funds, the consultant market, commercial contractors, and residential constructors across New Zealand. Greg is a past board member of the Registered Master Builder's Association and current chairman of Keystone trust.

Juan Castano

Juan Castano is a qualified Quantity Surveyor with over 5 years of experience in residential and commercial interiors. He holds a degree in Construction Management and previously worked in the Education Industry as an Area Manager for America and Southeast Asia. Juan is passionate about working on high-end offices, residential, and retail projects due to the variety of challenges they present, and he has a knack for adapting to new environments easily. An interesting fact about Juan is that he owns a Bunny Hotel and has been in the business for the past 4 years. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and has five years of experience in CrossFit.

Le Tainya Seeto

Le Tainya Seeto holds a variety of tertiary qualifications. She has significant experience in the Construction industry with many notable achievements in different areas of the business. Previously working at Stonewood Homes Franchisor Ltd as the National Operations Manager where she led a great team and provided ongoing support to the franchise network across NZ, and currently leading our Joinery team at Complete. Le Tainya is a family orientated person who enjoys art and craft with her children and supports anyone who wants to further develop their education.

Luiz Tonsic

Luiz was born and raised in Brazil and grew up around his father's carpentry factory. From the age of 15 Luiz was working as a casual construction labourer and joined his Dad full time when he finished high school. In Brazil he gained a Bachelor of Interior Design and worked for nearly four years in Civil Engineering before his move to New Zealand in 2014. Luiz has worked as a Detailer since he's been in New Zealand and has worked on some high-profile projects such as Elie Saab and Dolce & Gabbana for retail stores. Luiz joined Complete Construction early in 2019 soon after his brother, Doug, joined us. Luiz is a talented detailer design and really enjoys getting into the details of each bit of work. He is also currently studying towards a Bachelor of Architectural Studies at Unitec in NZ.

Mat Hughes

Mat co-founded Complete in 2003 and has developed it into one of New Zealand's leading specialist retail and hospitality shop fitting companies. Originally on the tools and with project management experience of local, national and international construction projects, Mat has a great understanding of all project challenges and how-to best support delivery teams and clients. Combining 20 years' experience in the industry, Mat also has highly developed relationship building skills and commercial acumen. As Joint Managing Director, he is responsible for the operational delivery and overviews health & safety and environmental processes. As a long-time advocate of sustainable construction and business practices, Mat drives sustainability initiatives across the company and projects. He has completed a Global Executive MBA through a top-ranked global program based out of Madrid, Spain.

Mathew Avenell

Mat is a 17-year veteran of Complete Construction, being a founding employee of the company. Mat has been pivotal in many of Completes key successes over the years. A carpenter by trade, Mat has worked across all facets of our sites from the tools and now into site supervision. His extensive knowledge of the intimacy of project delivery makes him an ideal Site Manager, ensuring that subcontract performance complements our own work and achieves quality and time objectives for this project.

Nigel Varcoe

Nigel joined Mat and Greg as a Director, chairing the board and as a major shareholder of the company in 2018. Nigel holds a Master of Engineering and throughout his career has become a highly regarded leader in the industry. He has a wealth of experience in the boardrooms of property, construction and high growth companies alike. Nigel also has an outstanding track record in leading complex infrastructure and property projects; with his most recent notable achievement leading the contractor procurement for the Watercare Central Interceptor project.

Olivia Liu

Olivia is a newcomer to the construction industry as a junior Quantity Surveyor. Her previous experience includes working as an accountant in a legal law firm in Singapore and in a property management company in New Zealand. As a junior QS, Olivia is providing assistant to the quantity surveying team in terms of tendering and post contract management. Olivia is responsible for the QS works for project documentation in Procore as well as estimating our maintenance works.

Ricky Lawrence

Ricky Lawrence is a highly experienced Commercial Manager with a comprehensive background in financial reporting, risk management, and all contractual matters. After studying at Birmingham City University, Ricky worked in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand, gaining a broad perspective and diverse skill set. As part of the Senior Leadership team, Ricky has a dynamic and result-driven approach to his work. He has an extensive international track record in commercial construction, which has honed his exceptional cost management skills, including cost analysis, reporting, forecasting, and negotiation. Ricky has a comprehensive understanding of New Zealand contracts making him an asset in procurement, contracts management, and supply chain risk mitigation. With his extensive experience and in-depth knowledge, Ricky is a vital contributor to any project he undertakes.

Russell Shelley

Russell is one of our professional detailers who joined the team in 2022. Originally from the United Kingdom, he moved to New Zealand at the age of eight and has since made NZ his home. Prior to his career in detailing, Russell worked as a CNC Programmer and Operator, as well Production Management. With his knowledge base Russell is committed to delivering exceptional results and takes pride in his attention to detail. In addition to his professional pursuits, Russell is also an avid music producer. He spends his spare time making and producing music. With his talent for both detailing and music production, Russell is a wellrounded individual who brings a unique perspective to his work and hobbies.

Shaun Denny

Shaun is a qualified Project Manager, who holds a Prince2 Project Manager Practitioner accreditation and Btech/Bsc from the University of Auckland. He began his career as a Product Analyst and Space Planner for ROI, following this, he was engaged in big box and trade retailers as the client-side Project Manager. Shaun enjoys the fast-paced aspect of the role, with the evolving design and implementation of construction innovation. He also likes to manage retail and hospitality projects as they require tight management and allows the clients to continue business. One of Shaun's major achievements was undertaking and completing at least 50 big box fitouts in NZ within the stipulated timeframe and within budget. "I love fishing, scuba diving and being around the water, I like to do DIY at home and have an obsession with perfect lawns - it's a dad thing" Shaun said.

Tony Swortzel

Vala Fu

Vala was born in China and moved to New Zealand aged 17 to finish high school, fell in love with New Zealand and decided to stay. Vala finished her Bachelor of Construction as QS at Massey University in Auckland in 2014 and has since worked as a QS for 6 years across several projects; including apartments, high-end kitchens, Walker & Hall jewellery, Max fashion clothing stores, and the joinery at AUT. Vala started at Complete in 2019 and she has been thriving with the company culture and environment. Vala loves the joinery side across both base build construction and hospitality fit outs.
