Ashley is Dufferin Veterinary Services Receptionist and Lab Technician. She started in the veterinary field in 2017 at Dufferin Veterinary Hospital and transferred to Dufferin Veterinary Services in September of 2019. Ashley moved to Mono in 2009 and attended Center Dufferin District High School. Whilst in high school she was an avid Eventer with her horse Finn. In 2015 she graduated with a College Diploma for Culinary Management from Humber College. Deciding to change her career path after 8 years in the culinary field, she entered into the veterinary field. Outside work you'll find her frequently going to the gym, running, hiking with her boyfriend and dog, watching movies, singing and cooking. She is currently continuing her education at Georgian College part time for the Bookkeeping program.

Darlene grew up on a small mixed farm in the Erin area and was always very involved with the farm. She knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Guelph, and started her career as an AI technician with Gencor. In the fall of 2004 Darlene and her husband started to milk cows, and have now expanded to a 40 cow milking Master Breeder herd. Darlene currently works with us part time as a technician; assisting and keeping the vets organized. In her spare time, Darlene enjoys trial riding, and camping.

Dr. Mandy Mulder graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009. Upon graduating Dr. Mulder worked in another mixed animal practice for 4 years before joining the Dufferin Veterinary Services team in 2013. Dr. Mulder began horseback riding at a young age and was immersed in riding, training and showing horses throughout childhood and adolescence. She is an alumnus of The Canadian Pony Club and has competed extensively in hunter, jumper and eventing disciplines. Dr. Mulder continues to keep a small collection of aging equines on her hobby farm in Wellington County.

Dr. Mulder enjoys partaking in all aspects of large animal practice. She has keen interests in equine health management and preventative medicine as well as emergency procedures. Dr. Mulder also thoroughly enjoys the challenges and rewarding outcomes of ruminant obstetrics. Dr. Mulder also enjoys sharing knowledge and inspiring the next generation and is always happy to speak to children's groups or clubs or provide one on one mentoring opportunities. Outside of veterinary practice Dr. Mulder enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children. She is a proud hockey mom to one son and groom and stable hand for 2 daughters. She also enjoys crafting, especially crocheting, and relaxing with a good book. Dr. Mulder also serves as a community volunteer and organizes a number of annual community events to bring local children and families together.

Dr. Rex Crawford joined DVS after graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2005. Dr. Crawford purchased the practice in January 2006. Dr. Crawford grew up on a purebred Shorthorn beef cattle and Suffolk sheep farm near Glencoe Ontario. He continues to be involved in the farm - still operated by his parents and brother and sister-in-law - including owning a small group of purebred Simmental cows with his nieces. Dr. Crawford enjoys all aspects of Large Animal practice - and especially the variety that working on multiple species offers. He has a special interest in Small Ruminant health and management and was the inaugural president of the Small Ruminant Veterinarians of Ontario (SRVO) and is currently a board member. Dr. Crawford represents veterinarians on a number of sheep and goat industry committees. Dr. Crawford speaks widely on small ruminant health related topics, and has taught portions of the Master Shepherd's Course run by the Ontario Sheep Farmers. Since 2015, Dr. Crawford has become involved in the collection and freezing of bull, ram, and buck semen in partnership with Deb Ottier at Iron Horse Equine. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Crawford enjoys curling, judging cattle and sheep, helping his family show cattle, and serving as ringman for a number of cattle shows.

Ruedi Waelchli started his veterinary career in a large animal practice in the Swiss mountains right after graduating from the veterinary college at the University of Zurich in Switzerland in 1976. While in practice, he worked on a research project to obtain the Drmedvet degree. In 1978, he moved to Canada to work at the University of Guelph as an intern in the Theriogenology department, and to complete a Master's thesis. During that time, he also prepared for the licensing examination for international veterinarians, which he passed in 1981. From 1982 to 1984, he worked at the Dufferin Veterinary Services in Orangeville. In 1984, he moved back to the Zurich Veterinary College, where he was in charge of the Ambulatory Field Clinic until 1993. The main workload consisted of dairy cattle, mare reproduction and neonatal diseases. During that time, he also completed a research project to obtain a degree equivalent to a PhD. In 1993, he and his family moved back to Canada and he took a research position at the Ontario Veterinary College with a focus on embryo development in horses. In 1996, he reduced the research work load to 50% and started to work at the Arthur Veterinary Clinic for the other half of the week until in 2006, when he moved back to Dufferin Veterinary Services. He has been working there full-time since 2015. He enjoys all aspects of large animal practice even though sometimes he would rather be hiking in the Swiss mountains. Ruedi Waelchli is married to a veterinarian and they have three adult daughters.

Heather grew up on a farm north of Rockwood where she spent many years showing cattle and training horses in her spare time. She went to the University of Guelph where she studied agriculture and also studied business and human resources at Sheridan College. She and her husband Kevin and their 3 children farm in Dufferin County. She brings with her loads of hands on experience of owning and operating her own large sheep flock and cattle operation. She also worked for many years in the swine industry and veterinary field as an assistant. She joined Dufferin Veterinary Services in 2019 as the bookkeeper and receptionist.

Mary Lou started working at Dufferin Veterinary Services/Hospital in 1986, and exclusively for Dufferin Veterinary Services since 2006 as Rex's "left hand man." Mary Lou is in charge of converting Doctor writing into medical records and invoices, keeping the shelves stocked with products and acting as "mother hen" to everyone in the office. Mary Lou is also known as the "egg lady" for peddling farm fresh eggs and "cat lady" for the over-abundance of barn cats she looks after. She is known as "Midget" to her pride and joy; her awesome daughter Courtney. In her spare time Mary Lou likes to work on her flower gardens, but also likes to crochet, knit and do lots of canning/preserving. Mary Lou lives with her husband Dave on his family farm in Mono.
