Angeline O'Neil

Angeline has been working at our Low Fell branch since March 2016.

Anne Butler

Job Titles:

  • Receptionist, Heaton
Anne has been working at Heaton since 2009. She enjoys working at firstvets and loves being part of the team, meeting clients and their pets. Her hobbies are socialising with friends and family and going to Bingo. Anne also enjoys walking her Jack Russell, Gotty, who she rescued when he was only two years old.

Beth Hakin

Beth joined firstvets in September 2016 while she was studying to become a veterinary nurse. She studied for her diploma at Kirkley Hall, where she qualified to become a veterinary nurse in 2018. She has two Jack Russell Terriers called Snoopy and Wilson.

Caroline Leigh

Caroline started working at the Forest Hall branch in September 2016.

Debbie Smith

Debbie started working on reception at the Heaton surgery in February 2014.

Judith Brown

Job Titles:
  • Senior Veterinary Surgeon
Judith qualified from Edinburgh Vet School in 1993. She has been with us since 1999, before which she has saw mixed practice in North West of England and small animal practice in the North East. She is based at our Forest Hall branch. Judith is well known in the area for her knowledge of rabbits after hand rearing a wild rabbit which she kept as a house rabbit, and a strong interest in small furries. She has a cat called Esme who is always causing her trouble!

Kate MacWhirter

Kate has worked for the firstvets Practice Group since it was established in 1999. She has a Staffordshire bull terrier called Kayla.

Katie Walker

Job Titles:
  • Student Veterinary Nurse
Katie started working for firstvets in 2010 and her first job role was a night nurse, but after a short while she was given the opportunity to become a student veterinary nurse. She thoroughly enjoys her job and has a wide variety of pets at home. Katie is the proud owner of a Great Dane, Bella and a green cheeked conure, Mac. She has a strong interest in birds and has owned many breeds over the years, which has helped greatly with her knowledge of them. In her spare time Katie loves spending time with her son as well as the rest of her family and pets.

Kelly Taylor

Kelly has been working on reception at Forest Hall since April 2012.

Kerry Douthwaite

Job Titles:
  • Animal Nursing Assistant
Kerry started working at firstvets in November 2017 as a kennel nurse. She takes care of the animals before and after operations. She is hoping one day to become a veterinary nurse. She has a love of all animals but especially dogs, which she has two of, Murphy a German Shepherd and Todd a Patterdale Terrier

Kim Pike RVN

Kim joined firstvets in 2009 and now works part-time at our Low Fell branch.

Laurie Marshall RVN

Laurie joined firstvets in 2004, starting out at our Heaton surgery where she qualified as an RVN. She now works at the Billy Mill surgery.

Lindsey Brown

Lindsey has been working on reception at the Billy Mill branch since April 2008.

Louise Towse RVN

In 2004 Louise worked in practice whilst studying for her National Diploma in Animal Management. After gaining this qualification she went on to do veterinary nursing at Myerscough Collage and UCLAN, qualifying as veterinary nurse in 2008. Her interests include animal behaviour and surgical nursing. She is also a clinical coach, and helps with the training of student veterinary nurses. Louise moved to Newcastle from Saltburn in April 2016, when she became part of the team at firstvets. Louise and her Collie cross Whippet, Maisy have been enjoying exploring Newcastle and Northumberland.

Pauline Marshall

Pauline started working at firstvets in 2002 and manages the finances for all the practices within the group.

Rachel Elliot

Rachel graduated from the University of Glasgow's School of Veterinary Medicine in July 2016 and moved down South to join us here at firstvets. She has a keen interest in internal medicine among other aspects of the job, but most of all, loves getting to know all of your pets and stealing a cuddle! She has re-homed two stray cats that came to us in 2018 called Haribo and Haggis.

Sarah Robson RVN

Job Titles:
  • Head Veterinary Nurse
Sarah started working at firstvets as an auxiliary nurse in 2003 when she was 18. She progressed on to become a trainee nurse and then a student nurse at Myerscough College. Sarah qualified in 2012 and is now also a clinical coach, helping to train our student nurses. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing but particularly training others, nursing clinics and running the puppy parties. In 2017, Sarah was made head nurse of firstVets. In her spare time Sarah enjoys socialising with friends, dancing, visiting new places and looking after her three cats Stanley, Alvin and Dora. I

Sharron Bell

Sharron started work at Billy Mill in August 2007.

Sophie Donaldson

Sophie joined Firstvets January 2023 and had came from previously working as a receptionist in a doctors practice. Sophie had completed work experience in a vets when younger and enjoyed it so much it's brought her back to what she initially loves ! Some of Sophie's interests are attending music events, spending time with friends and family at the weekends and expanding her medical knowledge learning new things in work everyday !
