Dr. Lin Li is the Director of the UIC-IAC, an Associate Professor in the UIC MIE Department, the Director of the UIC Industrial Engineering Program, and the Director of UIC's Sustainable Manufacturing Systems Research Laboratory. Dr. Li received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and has over 20 years of research experience in smart manufacturing for productivity improvement and energy-efficient sustainable manufacturing. He has published more than 120 articles, including 83 journal papers in the prestigious international journals, e.g., Energy, Applied Energy, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics: Systems, Journal of Cleaner Production, ASME Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, International Journal of Energy Research, International Journal of Production Economics, etc. His new book, entitled "Sustainable Manufacturing Systems: An Energy Perspective", will be published in Wiley. Dr. Li's publications have been cited over 3,000 times with h-index 34 and i10-index 68. Besides the funding received from government agencies, i.e., DOE and National Science Foundation, his research has also been funded and implemented through industrial assessments and collaborations, e.g., General Motors, Chrysler, Eaton Corporation, General Electric, etc.

Patrick Brown Heading

Patrick Brown is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager who joined the Energy Resources Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. Patrick graduated with a degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has over thirteen years of experience in the energy efficiency field. He has successfully managed several energy efficiency programs for both the State of Illinois and the U.S. Department of Energy and has performed energy assessments in a variety of facilities over the course of his career from the commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. He is currently an Assistant Director for the US Department of Energy's Industrial Assessment Center Program where he leads industrial energy assessments and trains teams of student engineers in all aspects of how to complete an energy assessment.
