Expanding into film, Lane has produced over 25 stage to screen productions as well as movies such as "Brooklyn Rules" starring Alec Baldwin and Freddy Prinze Jr., "Romeo and Juliet" starring Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad, and documentary "Show Business: The Road to Broadway." Lane has also produced the Broadway Production of "Company" starring Raul Esperaza and "Cyrano de Bergerac" starring Kevin Kline, for Great Performances on PBS... Lane is the author of the books "Let's Put On A Show" (published by The Works of Art Library)"Jews on Broadway" editions one and two (published by McFarland & Company, Inc.), "Black Broadway" (published by SquareOne Publisher) and the plays "In the Wings" (published by Hal Leonard) and "If It Was Easy" (published by Performing Books) and nominated for Best New Play by the American Theatre Critics Association. Conceived and wrote the John Denver Musical "Back Home Again" which he received the John Denver Spirit Award.
