Our research is based on a cross-disciplinary approach involving extensive collaboration with scientist ranging from physics and engineering to biomedical and clinical research. Our vision is to be able to translate our research into methods to be used by the community and industrial products to make the technologies available for the scientific community and hospital labs... In the lab of Mats Nilsson, our work is focused on development of novel molecular analysis tools for use in research and diagnostics. We focus on infectious and cancer diagnostics as well as image-based spatial transcriptomics of various tissues. We address development of both fundamental assay architecture and novel devices. Our research is based on advanced molecular tools employing nucleic acid processing enzymes and DNA circularization reactions. With the use of specifically designed padlock probes and rolling circle amplification (RCA), it allows for the detection and quantification of DNA and RNA sequences..
