UK Green Patent Granted March 2023, our long term energy storage solution uses off peak renewable energy to store large volumes of compressed air. When required the stored air is released and defused as fine air bubbles into the base of a very deep uplift shaft, in turn creating a lower specific gravity and an artificial head of water within the inner shaft. Our innovation follows the basic principles of a very efficient air lift pump, the water then enters a header tank that feeds traditional hydro turbines before returning back down an outer shaft, where the cycle begins once again. Importantly, once the water is in OblinEngine it is within an internal loop, infinitely recycling the very same water so not consuming a very valuable resource... OblinEngine Research and Development has been in progress now for over 12 years and we hope to have a utility scale demonstrator built within the next three to five years.
