Aaron is the Einhorn Center's senior director of communications. He's responsible for developing and implementing the communications strategy as he partners with faculty, staff and students from across campus to promote community-engaged learning at Cornell. He also supports strategic communications for other units in the Office of the Vice Provost for Engagement and Land-Grant Affairs.

Basil Safi

Basil is responsible for providing senior leadership, planning and strategy development in support of the Einhorn Center to shape a wide range of projects and initiatives in community engagement. He advises senior university leaders on key issues, provides recommendations for strategic planning and oversees coordination, analysis and reporting for the center's activities. Across the university, Basil plays a pivotal role in assisting all facets of campus to deepen service and community-engaged learning across the domains of curricular, research and co-curricular initiatives. By working collaboratively and creatively with all facets of the university, Basil brings vision, cohesion and financial sustainability to the community engagement initiative. Basil is a first-generation American with 21 years of experience in the management, design and implementation of public health, strategic communication and community-engaged learning programs. He earned his B.S. in civil engineering from Virginia Tech, his M.P.H. in global environmental health from Emory University and is finalizing an M. Eng. in Engineering Management from Cornell ('24). Prior to joining Cornell, Basil spent ten years with the Center for Communication Programs at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on a range of international health programs to improve community outcomes. Basil helped establish five community-based organizations in Bolivia, Egypt, India, Indonesia and Pakistan that work with U.S.-based universities to serve the needs of local communities. Basil is a registered professional engineer and former environmental public health leadership fellow at the CDC's National Center for Environmental Health. He has experience working domestically and in Azerbaijan, Barbados, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Tanzania and Uganda. Basil has coauthored publications across the fields of health communication, public health preparedness, transmission, immigrant rights, social science and mobile health.

Bethany Resnick

Bethany advises the K-12-focused, student-run programs at the Einhorn Center. Her groups run youth programs with an emphasis on academic support, mentorship and college readiness. The K-12 programs have opportunities to work with students in the local Ithaca area and the surrounding counties. We have programs for both undergraduate and graduate students as long as you are excited to engage with the K-12 community! Before coming to Cornell, Bethany focused on informal science education for seven years. Most recently, she worked at the Sciencenter developing and facilitating early childhood programs, field trips, professional development workshops and adult events. Bethany was born and raised in Ithaca, NY, and is excited to continue her career with the Einhorn Center. She received a BS in Biology from Binghamton University and her MS in Biology from Florida Atlantic University.

A graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences, David has been a member of the Cornell Board of Trustees since 2015, and currently serves on the Executive Committee, as co-chair of the Research and Innovation Committee, and as a member of the Committees on Development, Academic Affairs and Student Life. Formerly, he served on the College of Arts and Sciences Young Alumni Council and on the Class of 1991 Class Council. Outside of Cornell, he serves on the boards of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the Robin Hood Foundation and City Year. David is the co-founder and president of Greenlight Capital, Inc., a value-oriented investment advisor whose goal is to achieve high absolute rates of return while minimizing the risk of capital loss. David is also chairman of the boards of Greenlight Capital Re, Ltd. and Green Brick Partners, Inc. David is the son of Nancy ‘64 and Stephen ‘64 Einhorn, the brother of Daniel Einhorn ‘95, and the father of Rachel ‘19, Naomi ‘21 and Mitchell Einhorn.

President Emeritus Frank H. T. Rhodes established the Cornell Public Service Center to expand on the work of Cornell Ithaca Volunteers in Training and Service (CIVITAS) and encompass civic and community development projects, student organizations, school programs, student leadership development, academic-based programs and related community-based learning courses that worked with communities to strengthen democracy and the public good.

Kurt Sarsfield

In his role at the Einhorn Center, Kurt works to ensure the success of the team's goals and objectives by developing long-range plans and strategies in partnership with the staff. Kurt helps establish organizational systems and processes that drive cohesiveness among the team. Prior to this role, Kurt served as assistant director of the Cornell Science and Technology Entry Program. Kurt began his career as a middle school teacher before transitioning into administrative roles in both schools and the non-profit sector. Kurt has a B.A. in English Language and Literature and Secondary Education from the University of Michigan and a M.S. in Education from Relay Graduate School of Education.

Renée Farkas

Renée began her career at Cornell with the CIVITAS program whose work laid the foundation for the creation of the Public Service Center in 1991. Now serving as an Associate Director of the Einhorn Center she is a member of the senior management team with operational management responsibilities. In addition to her duties, Renée co-leads the Pre-Orientation Service Trip (POST) program and has a long-history related to the work of the Community Work-Study Program. She has served on many initiatives and committees both on campus and off, such as the Orientation committee, Cornell Days, Reunion, First-Year Family Weekend and many others. She also serves as a member of the Review Committee for the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County.

Richard Kiely

As associate vice provost for engagement and land-grant affairs and the director of academic initiatives in the Einhorn Center, Richard stewards the design and implementation of the Engaged College Initiative; oversees academic programs and initiatives and offers general advising to faculty, staff and students interested in incorporating community-engaged learning into their teaching and research endeavors. In 2002, Richard received his Ph.D. from Cornell University and from 2002 to 2006, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Policy and Administration at the University of Georgia. In 2005, he was recognized nationally as a John Glenn Scholar in Service-Learning for research that developed a transformative service-learning model. In 2011, 2014 and 2015, he served as co-editor of two special sections on global service-learning for the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning. He is a co-author of Community-Based Global Learning: The Theory and Practice of Ethical Engagement at Home and Abroad (2018) and co-founder of the Community-Based Global Learning Collaborative, a multi-institutional network advancing ethical, critical and aspirationally de-colonial community-based learning and research for more just, inclusive and sustainable communities. He was the inaugural director of Cornell's Center for Community-Engaged Learning and Research (2011-2015).

Stacey Davenport

Stacey provides key administrative support for both the Einhorn Center and the Engaged Cornell Hub. She's the welcoming face of the Hub, receiving visitors, answering phone calls and responding to email inquiries. As a member of the operations team, Stacey also oversees scheduling and room reservations and generally makes sure the Hub and the center are functioning properly. Stacey has 20 years of experience as an administrative assistant in higher education. She's excited to be a part of the Einhorn Center, bringing community engagement to the Cornell student body.
