Rev George Callander is proud to work with OV as Padre. Despite not being himself a forces veteran, George has had the honour to conduct countless veteran's funerals over the years, which is how he came to to meet Jim Owens in 2017. As OV Padre, George provides advice, friendship and support to the organisation and its members and leads occasional remembrance services and other events on OV's behalf.
George is a bereavement specialist practitioner; a published writer, educator and Fellow of the Institute of Welfare. He is also a qualified nurse who previously specialised in emergency medicine and paediatrics, dividing his working week between hospital and pastoral work. In his very limited spare time George is a professional performer.
