Barbara Kalumenos joined STM in July 2008 as Director of Public Affairs. She holds a degree of Biology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and has been working since 1985 in leading Sales & Marketing positions for various international companies focused on scientific information including Beilstein and Elsevier where since 2006 she was Director of External Relations for the German-speaking countries.
Carlo Scollo Lavizzari specializes in copyright law, licensing and litigation. He is an attorney admitted to practice in Switzerland, South Africa, England and Wales. Carlo's law firm is based in Basel, Switzerland. Carlo advises STM and other publishers world-wide on copyright law, policy and legal affairs, as well as some film, record and software producers. Carlo writes articles and speaks frequently about copyright and related matters.

Claudia Russo joined STM as Regional Manager Public Affairs for Europe in April 2020. She is based in Brussels, and supports STM and its membership in gathering political intelligence, developing public affairs strategies and liaising with European institutions and stakeholders. Claudia had been supporting STM and other right holders organisations as an external consultant since 2018, while specialising in digital issues. She holds a Bachelor Degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste and a Master's Degree in European Public Affairs from the University of Maastricht.

David Weinreich has worked with STM to support STM's public affairs activity since 2011. In his role as Director of Public Affairs for the Americas, he provides strategic advice, messaging development, political intelligence and lobbying to help publishers communicate their positions and goals to governments throughout the Americas, with a particular focus on the US federal government. He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Memphis, and published several articles in the mathematical literature.
In a wide-ranging career, he has worked in K-12 education, academia, non-profit science policy and education organizations, and both the legislative and executive branch of the U.S. government. His consulting firm, Weinreich Strategic Group, focuses on science, technology, innovation, and education policy.
Dr. Caroline Sutton is STM's CEO. Prior to joining STM Caroline previously served as Director of Open Research for Taylor & Francis. She co-founded Co-Action Publishing, was one of the founders and first President of OASPA and served on the board between 2008-2021. She is also serving on the Board of Directors of Dryad, the Advisory Board of CESSDA, and Director with Infrastructure Services for Open Access (IS4OA), the managing organization of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). She was appointed to the OpenAIRE Advisory Board in 2013 and has held several other past board positions including at SPARC Europe (2010-2013) and the Lund University Library Board (2008-2010).

Eefke Smit is STM's Director of Standards and Technology and coordinates the activities for STM members in the areas of technology developments and standards. Part of this are the annual STM Trends forecast, initiatives on research data, seamless access and authentication, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Preservation. She coordinates the work of the STM Standards and Technology Executive Committee (STEC), and the Future Lab Forum. She organizes STM Innovations seminars in Europe and the US and series of free S&T related webinars for STM members.
Eefke has been active in academic publishing for more than 30 years (in physics, mathematics, computer science) and in electronic product development (Scopus, ScienceDirect). She holds a masters' degree in public administration and started her working life as a writer/ journalist on research and technology

Hylke Koers is the Chief Information Officer for STM Solutions, STM's operational arm which develops and manages shared infrastructures and collaborative services to support the scholarly communications community. Before joining STM, Hylke worked in several senior technology and product management roles, in both private and public sector organizations, supporting the research community. Hylke also held leading roles in FAIRsFAIR, the Research Data Alliance and served on the EOSC Architecture Working Group. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Amsterdam.

Jo Dinnage STM General Manager Events and Sponsorship joined STM in January 2008 as Events Manager. Responsible for event sponsorship and the organisation of STM events including seminars, courses, conferences, webinars, and outside exhibitions.

In his role Joris supports and coordinates STM's research integrity and data programs - both integral components of STM's mission to advance trusted research.
Joris van Rossum worked for several leading companies and organizations across the STM publishing space, including Digital Science and Elsevier, where he initiated and led a variety of important innovations and cross-publisher initiatives within the research and publishing ecosystem.
Joris holds a master degree in biology and a PhD in philosophy.

Julia Wallace comes to STM with three decades of experience in scholarly communications. Having been a publisher in the area of physical sciences as well as a consultant, her particular interest is in multistakeholder initiatives that benefit the scholarly ecosystem.
Julia was previously Project Manager for the EU-funded PEER project (Publishing and the Ecology of European Research) and Project Director of RA21: Resource Access in the 21 st Century, and has been engaged by STM as Project Manager for the Scholarly Networks Security Initiative (SNSI) since January 2021.
Julia holds a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Physics and a postgraduate diploma in marketing.

Kim Beadle is Director of Financial Administration and Operations. She runs the office based in Oxford and oversees administration in The Hague office. Kim's main priority is to ensure that both offices run smoothly and that all her STM colleagues are kept well informed.
Kim also handles the administration of the finances both receivable and payable. She coordinates the STM Board meetings, team meetings and several STM Committees. She undertakes the STM Board Elections every year and handles membership administration.

Lucy Derges is Manager of Research and joined STM in December 2020. She coordinates research projects that deliver data analysis, resources and reports that inform all involved in the global activity of research. She also monitors the industry for developments and gathers research to support global advocacy work. Lucy also is a member of the Policy and Advocacy team and supports STM's activities in the Asia-Pacific region. She holds a BScEcon(hons) and a number of postgraduate certifications in International Affairs. She has previously worked as a global Marketing Manager and spent ten years in the UK Civil Service as a Policy Analyst and Relationship Manager. She is currently completing an MA Publishing Studies with Oxford Brookes University.
Mark Garlinghouse is an independent consultant supporting STM in Asia. Since 2015, Mark has supported the STM China Chapter and other coordination for STM in Asia.

Shuai Yan is STM China Consultant since November 2021. In his role, Shuai will support STM's policy and advocacy work across China.
Shuai worked in the Journal Publishing Department of Beijing Forestry University from 1985 to 2011, starting as an assistant editor and working up to the director of the Department.
From 2011 to 2017 he worked with Tsinghua University Press as its director of Journal Publishing.
From 2017 to 2020 Shuai worked with Springer Nature Greater China as director of academic relationships (including government relations).
He had served as the president of the Society of China University Journals (CUJS), the vice president of China Periodicals Association (CPA), and the vice president of the China Editology Society for Scientific Periodicals (CESSP).
Shuai holds a bachelor's degree in forestry economics and management and a Ph.D. in management.
