Carmen Bello Gimeno

Carmen Bello-Gimeno manages the University's Consular relations and supports leadership in their interactions with international partners. Her current responsibil ities include coordinating the Global team's efforts for the reception of high-level international delegations, the organization of quarterly international administrators' meetings, as well as the organization of the annual University of Chicago and Chicago Consular Reception.

Center in Paris

The Center in Paris is the University of Chicago's research and teaching arm in Europe, an intellectual community of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students representing our traditionally strong ties to European thought and culture. Today, the Center in Paris has become a respected presence in Paris, a hub for local and regional collaboration, and a springboard for extending the University's reach throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Eimi Satoh

Job Titles:

Eimi Satoh oversees the institutional agreements process to facilitate partnerships between the University of Chicago and international institutions. She collaborates with academic and administrative units, the Office of Legal Counsel, and the Office of the Provost to ideate optimal structures for partnerships; draft agreements; liaise with internal and external stakeholders to refine terms, assess risk, and ensure legal compliance; and secure approval and signature.

Elise Polly

Elise Polly leads events for UChicago Global, which includes the annual marquee event, the US-China Forum, as well as anniversary celebrations for the Global Centers and public facing lectures and workshops. She is also the ‘Global Liaison' for the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, Booth School of Business, the Crown Family School, South & Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. In this capacity she supports faculty engaging globally and builds relationships with key stakeholders both on campus and abroad.

Janice Ng

Job Titles:
  • Associate Director, Global Initiatives and Strategy
works with the University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong's Heritage Interpretation Center, where she provides guidance on the development and operations of the exhibition and heritage sites. Janice coordinates with the advisory committee there, working closely with both University stakeholders and consultants on ongoing activities. In Chicago, Janice promotes and maintains relationships with local Chinese and Hong Kong government representatives as well as Chinese student groups.

Juan de Pablo

Juan de Pablo helps drive and support the expanding reach of the University's science, technology, and innovation efforts, along with their connection to policy and industry. He identifies and shapes emerging strategic scientific and technological initiatives, and provides oversight of entrepreneurship and innovation activities at the University's Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Kate Moore

Kate Moore leads Global's Chicago-based programming and the university's institutional partnership process. Together with the ‘Global liaison' team, she creates and maintains support structures for faculty conducting international work, builds relationships with key stakeholders both on campus and abroad, advises academic units and faculty on potential partnership structures and surfaces opportunities for their global engagement. Kate also serves as the primary contact for BSD and East Asia.

Kathy Sink - CHRO

Kathy Sink manages Human Resources internally at the University of Chicago as well as for the Centers in Beijing, Delhi and the University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong. She has been integral in creating hiring processes, hiring manuals, updating employee handbooks, generating personnel policies, establishing procedures and conducting staff training programs to ensure we maintain compliance with local employment laws for each specific country that the University of Chicago conducts business.

Katie Hrinyak

Katie Hrinyak provides leadership for UChicago Global, which provides support, funding mechanisms, and infrastructure for the University community's global engagement through a Chicago team and centers in Beijing, Delhi, and Hong Kong, while coordinating closely with the Center in Paris. She manages existing international relationships and builds new ones with the goal of expanding the University's global reach.

Marie Bejarano

manages internal communications for UChicago Global, coordinating between the Chicago and Center teams and our partners across campus to capture and share knowledge about the University's global activities through an internal database, newsletters, reports, and websites and developing new ways to share opportunities and resources. She also supports the drafting of leadership remarks, news articles, faculty profiles, and other documents as needed. Marie is Global's liaison for the Physical Sciences Division and Latin America.

Ngô Bao Ch u receives Fields Medal, highest honor in mathematics Ngô Bao Ch u, who joined the mathematics faculty at the University of Chicago on in 2010, received the Fields Medal, the International Congress of Mathematicians announced today in Hyderabad, India. The ICM cited Ngô "for his proof of the Fundamental Lemma in the theory of automorphic forms through the introduction of new algebro-geometric methods."

Rekaa Thiagarajan is the functional lead for financial accounting matters related to the Global Centers and the Global office. She provides support as the primary contact for daily financial operations. This includes forecast and budgeting process, assisting in managing the various internal grants administered by Global and ensuring various compliance requirements are met on a timely basis.

Steven Yandell

Steve Yandell manages Global's internal funding opportunities for faculty and academic appointees, including the Provost's Global Faculty Awards, Research Collaboration Program between UChicago and CNRS Grants, Yuen Research Grants, and the forthcoming Weizmann Grants in Quantum Information Sciences and AI+Sciences. He oversees pre-award processes, including the solicitation, review, and awarding of grants in coordination with faculty committees in addition to providing technical support to current grantees.
