Upper Blackstone Clean Water owns and operates an advanced wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) designed to treat an average daily flow of 45 million gallons per day (MGD), a maximum daily flow of 80 MGD, and a peak hourly flow of 160 MGD. Upper Blackstone treats wastewater from domestic, commercial and industrial sources from the City of Worcester, the Towns of Auburn, Holden, Millbury, Rutland, and West Boylston, and the Cherry Valley Sewer District in the Town of Leicester. Upper Blackstone also serves portions of the Towns of Oxford, Paxton, Shrewsbury and Sutton. In addition, Upper Blackstone accepts septage from nearby communities and liquid sludge from many facilities throughout Massachusetts.
