Allport, Simon J.

Dr. Allport joined Gastroenterology Associates in 1999. A native of England, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of London. He completed his residency at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and his fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He is board certified in gastroenterology. Dr. Allport has been selected by his peers to the "Best Doctors in North Carolina" list.

Azrak, Anne

Dr. Anne Azrak is a graduate of Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before joining Catawba Valley Family Medicine - Maiden, she completed her family medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University where she was chief resident. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), among others. Since 2008, Dr. Azrak has served in a number of foreign countries as part of a Global Health Engagement initiative, including Malawi, Kenya, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.

Barrett, William M.

Prior to completing his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in pediatrics, Dr. Barrett completed his medical degree at University of Tennessee, Memphis, College of Medicine.

Basnight, Caitlin

Dr. Basnight received her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She completed her Family Medicine residency at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. She is board certified in Family Medicine with particular interests in pediatrics, women's health, dermatology and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. She is licensed by the South Carolina Board of Medicine and the North Carolina Board of Medicine, and she is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Beth Watts Rogers

A native of Hickory and graduate of Appalachian State University, Beth is happy to be back in the foothills of North Carolina after a career stint in Chicago. With two active children, Watts and Ivey, and a husband Matt to navigate, Beth still finds time to serve her community as the co-chair for the Downtown Hickory Farmers Market, board member for the Catawba Valley Community Foundation and SALT Block Foundation and involved member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She even finds time to walk and hike with her family and get away when possible to Lake James.

Black, Justin

Prior to completing his residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Dr. Black completed his medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and his internship at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Bob Robinson

Retirement has not slowed Bob's active commitment to the local community. He feels strongly that our community deserves a strong, excellent, and locally-controlled health system-enough to join the board to provide assistance. Bob recently funded the beautiful new Cancer Center Tree of Life display in honor of his late wife. A fan of yard work, Bob also enjoys driving his sports car and exploring new areas.

Bools, John C.

Prior to completing his fellowship at the Ohio State University School of Medicine and Charlotte Memorial Hospital in general surgery/diagnostic radiology, Dr. Bools received his medical degree from Medical College of Ohio and completed his internship at Charlotte Memorial Hospital.

Bools, Lindsay M.

A Hickory native, Dr. Bools graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, and a clinical fellowship in vascular surgery at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. She is extensively trained in performing minimally invasive procedures that offer faster recovery time and less discomfort than conventional surgery. A second generation physician, Dr. Bools joins her father serving patients in the Greater Hickory community.

Bradshaw, Peter H.

Prior to completing his residency at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in general surgery, Dr. Bradshaw completed his medical degree at UNC Chapel Hill and completed his internship at the University of Kentucky School of Medicine.

Bridgeman, Kelly B.

Prior to completing her residency at Carolinas Medical Center in pediatrics, Dr. Bridgeman completed her medical degree at Bowman Gray and her internship at Carolinas Medical Center.

Brooks, Gregory T.

A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dr. Brooks received his undergraduate bachelor of arts degree from the University of Virginia. He then received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Brooks went on to Columbia, SC to complete his internship and residency in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in conjunction with Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Brooks and his wife Janet have 4 children, who he enjoys spending time with. He's an avid sports fan and especially enjoys rooting for his alma maters: the UVA Cavaliers and the WVU Mountaineers.

Burton, Michael P.

Prior to completing his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Ft. Lewis, WA, Dr. Burton received his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1990. In addition to being board certified in family medicine, Dr. Burton is also certified with the National Board of Medical Examiners. Before moving to Hickory to join the staff at the Medical Arts Clinic in 1997, Dr. Burton practiced medicine at Winn Army Community Hospital in Ft. Steward, GA where he served patients both as a family medicine doctor and a battalion surgeon for the 3/15 Infantry.

Colby Bolick

After Colby graduated the Appalachian State University's Walker college of Business in 2009, he received a certificate of Financial Planning Education from Kaplan University. A graduate of Bunker Hill High School, Colby and his wife Jenna settled in Claremont to raise their two children, Oliver & Tillie. A huge supporter of App State's football program and a member of the university's Yosef Club, Colby also enjoys outdoor activities such running, cycling, hunting, fishing and cooking and grilling for his family. Colby is actively involved in leadership in the local YMCAs, and he is also a member of the Church Council for Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Claremont. Colby's roots to our hospital go way back-he was born here!

Colosimo, Barbara

After practicing primary care pediatrics for many years in a thriving practice in Tampa, Florida, Dr. Barbara Colosimo joined Unifour Pediatrics in 2015 where she enjoys establishing lasting relationships with families and providing innovative medical care. Prior to completing her residency at the University of South Florida in pediatrics, Dr. Colosimo completed her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin and her internship at the University of South Florida. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and local and state medical societies. Dr. Colosimo lives in the Hickory area with her husband Dean and two teenage boys, both of which are active in athletic programs including baseball, football, and basketball. When she is not working, Dr. Colosimo enjoys golfing, reading, gardening and puzzles.

Cost, Jamey L.

Dr. Cost completed her medical degree and fellowship at the West Virginia University School of Medicine in otolaryngology.

Dr. Battiston

Dr. Battiston completed his neuroradiology radiology fellowship and residency program at the University of Virginia Health System. He also received his PhD in Engineering Science at Dartmouth College and his medical degree at University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Battiston is a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR) In his free time, Dr. Battiston enjoys playing bass guitar and keyboard with his band, serving on the board of the Hickory Music Factory, studying modern foreign languages and traveling to Europe.

Dr. Peter Alford

Dr. Peter Alford has been practicing medicine for over three decades. His previous experience includes specializing in sleep medicine and working at Piedmont Health Care as Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit and the Respiratory Therapy Department at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He served as the Medical Director of the Ventilator Weaning Unit at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Alford earned his undergraduate degree at Davidson College, followed by his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi. Alford performed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident, before completing his fellowship at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine.

Gaye Tucker

As a former flight attendant, Gaye knows that good customer service goes a long way to calming fears and apprehension both in the air and in a medical setting. Gaye and her husband of more than 45 years, Richard, are actively involved with CMF's Good Samaritan's Closet-a place where durable medical goods, like walkers and wheelchairs, and everyday necessities, like clothing and personal items, are stored for use for indigent patients. While Gaye loves to read and watch the NY Yankees, she spends most of her free time with her growing family of three children, six grand-children and two great-grandchildren.

Guy Guarino

Guy has served as Chief Development Officer since 2010. He served as Vice President of Development Community Services from 2003-2010. He has a B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Health Administration from Pfeiffer University. Guy is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). Guy is actively involved in community service, including two terms as President of Hickory Rotary Club, 3-time Assistant District Governor for Rotary International, President of the Hickory High School Athletic Boosters, President of the Hickory Public School's Education Foundation, Vice-Chairman of Catawba Valley Health Partners, board member of GHCCM's NETworXCatawba initiative and a youth basketball coach. In 2017, he was honored as the "Volunteer of the Year" at Hickory High School. Guy is married to Veronica Guarino, an elementary school media coordinator, and they have three adult children: Nick, Carrie, and Jess.

Helen "Taffy" DeCuzzi

A former teacher, Taffy was born and raised in Catawba County and has long considered Catawba Valley Health System to be the hidden gem of the community. Taffy has been actively involved in many philanthropic endeavors of the health system, working to make sure that we never lose sight of our commitment to our community to serve every person with excellence. Taffy lives in Sherrills Ford and has shared her gifts and talents with many over the years.

Johann Louchez

Johann is our most international board member! Born in Brussels and earning a Spanish minor at UNC-CH, he is well aware of the importance of serving a diverse population. After receiving a B.S. in Business at UNC, he completed the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He is an active community and church member and enjoys spending time with his family. He first became intimately acquainted with CVHS when his oldest child was born here, and has been a big fan ever since.

Kathy Wilson

Kathy serves as a physician specialist in several areas of our health system: our Sleep Center, Catawba Valley Pulmonology outpatient clinic and inpatient intensivist at our medical center. Kathy enjoyed a successful career as a registered medical technologist before pursuing a medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she stayed for her residency and fellowships. Board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, and critical care medicine, Kathy amazingly still finds time for travel, entertaining, reading and church activities.

Kelly M. Jones

Because of her work in the financial profession, Kelly clearly understands the need for excellent healthcare in our community, so she joined the Catawba Medical Foundation board to help make a practical difference. Kelly loves to travel the world where she gains fresh perspectives and then brings those new ideas to our community using her degree in Business Management and lots of energy and excitement. When she's not traveling or fishing, she loves to spoil her nieces and spend time with her friends.

Kimberly H. Whitley

Kim is not only a well-respected attorney in our community, but she is also known for her acting roles in local theater. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, Kim stayed in Chapel Hill for law school and graduated with high honors. Kim was appointed by the Catawba County Commissioners to serve on the Aging Leadership Planning Team which works to enhance Catawba County as a liveable senior friendly community. Kim and her husband, David, live in Hickory with their son, Colson.

Although she is always on the go with her son's sports schedule and her visits to her daughter, Stephanie still finds the time to actively serve Hickory Public Schools in a variety of service roles including PTA, Boosters and more. As a business school graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University, Stephanie is actively involved in improving the local community-both in the business sector and the personal sector. If she's not working or at a sporting event, she loves to relax on the beach.

Tom Taylor

Originally from Ohio, Tom has wasted little time becoming involved in the Catawba County community. Big supporters of both the March of Dimes and the American Heart Association, Tom and his wife Diane recognize the importance of a strong community hospital, and Tom joined the CMF board ready to work. He enjoys spending time with his 10 children, traveling, hiking, tennis, racquetball and swimming. He looks forward to his impending retirement so that he might have more time to spend making our community a better place!

Tracey A. Bolick

Tracey A. Bolick joined Catawba Medical Foundation in September of 2014 as coordinator. In her role, she is responsible for Annual Programs including events, communication and donor relations. Tracey graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and a secondary major of political science. Prior to joining Catawba Medical Foundation, Tracey served as marketing director for Hickory Furniture Mart, Florida Furniture Mart and the Holiday Inn Select. Tracey is also actively involved in the community having served as PTA president at three schools, chaired the Patrick Beaver Learning Center Board and Hickory Public Schools PTA Council, and has been a member of the Western Piedmont Symphony board of directors. Tracey is very involved in her church and she and her husband David have three adult children.

Marshall is our first "next" generation board member, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Ron Deal. After graduating from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School and working for Under Armour in Baltimore, Marshall and his wife Alex returned to Hickory so Marshall could join his family's furniture manufacturing company. Marshall feels a deep sense of community that he brings to his other civic responsibilities as a director for the Catawba County United Way and an advisory board member of the Luke Garrison Foundation. In his spare time, Marshall enjoys basketball and golf.
