Anne Marie Almaraz

Anne Marie Almaraz is a mathematics teacher leader in the Sweetwater Union High School District in Chula Vista, CA. She began teaching high school mathematics in 2004 at Otay Ranch High School. Mrs. Almaraz joined the Discrete Math Project during its pilot year, having signed on to team teach the brand new course. Since then, she has joined the DMPC leadership team as a teacher leader, acting as a course resource for her district. Her passion is seeing students thrive in the math classroom.

Dr. Nina Salcedo Potter

Job Titles:
  • Director of Accreditation
Dr. Nina Salcedo Potter is currently the Director of Accreditation, Program Review, and Assessment for the College of Education at San Diego State University. She received both her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education (1994), and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an Emphasis in Measurement, Statistics, and Research Design (2000) from the University of Washington. Her research interests include formative program evaluation and data visualization.

Dr. Osvaldo Soto

Dr. Osvaldo Soto is the director of the Discrete Math Project Collaborative and Math for America San Diego. Dr. Soto is interested in the development of secondary teachers' proof schemes and how teachers draw on their content knowledge to guide instruction. He brings nearly two decades of secondary teaching experience and 17 years of research-based professional development experience.

Melody Morris

Melody Morris is a mathematics teacher leader in the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) in Chula Vista, CA. She started teaching high school mathematics in 2004 at Mar Vista High School. She is a resource teacher for SUHSD's DMPC courses and has taught DMPC for the past four years. Ms. Morris is passionate about teacher professional development as it relates to equitable access to rigorous mathematics education for all.

Trang Vu

Job Titles:
  • Assistant Director
Trang Vu is DMPC's assistant director. Before joining the project, Mrs. Vu was a Math for America San Diego Noyce Master Teaching Fellow. She is also the Museum of Math's 2013 Rosenthal Prize winner for Innovation and Inspiration in Math Teaching. In DMPC, Mrs. Vu helps direct the project in nearly all aspects, including being lead curriculum writer of the curriculum. She loves teaching.
