Originally from Hampton, Virginia but a long time resident of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale region, Ernesto Lee is a founding member of Blockchain Training Alliance and the founder, owner, and CEO of Capital Equity Innovations, dba Ernesto.net Dr. Lee is a Data Analytics Professor at Miami Dade College. With a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Old Dominion University, Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and Doctorate in Business Administration: Data Science and Analytics from Baker College, Ernesto's passion for education is grounded in his own academic journey. As a firm believer in lifelong learning, he has always sought out opportunities to acquire new knowledge and grow. Through his entrepreneurial endeavors, he strives to accelerate the high-tech learning process for others as well. A critically acclaimed thought leader in Data Science, Blockchain and technology, Dr. Lee's work as a researcher, author, course writer, and public speaker will continue to shape the future of Machine Learning / Automation Policy, high-tech training and education. In today's world, Artificially Intelligent systems are used to determine who gets to foster children, who gets hired, the quality of medical treatment we receive, and whether we become a suspect in a police investigation. While these tools show great promise, they can also harm vulnerable and marginalized people, and threaten civil rights. Unchecked, unregulated and, at times, unwanted, AI systems and the data they are built upon, can amplify racism, sexism, religious discrimination, and other forms of discrimination. Dr. Lee's personal mission and the mission of the Florida Center for Advanced Analytics and Data Science is to raise awareness about the impacts of data driven decision making (when the data is flawed), AI, and equip advocates with empirical research, build the voice and choice of the most impacted communities, and galvanize researchers, policy makers, and industry practitioners to mitigate "data violence" in the form of AI harms and biases. We are looking to balance the data and AI ecosystem towards equitable and accountable AI. Ernesto is the Lead Researcher at the Florida Center for Advanced Analytics and Data Science. He has been published in the worlds greatest journals to include: Scientific Reports, IEEE, Advanced Astronomy, and many more. The goal of the research center is to promote algorithms for good and to uncover bias in Machine Learning Models and data.
