HAPPYEGGSBYBARBARA

It all started with a curious collection - not the most curious, but curious it is indeed - of large ostrich eggs. I found - and still do - these ancient dinosaur-like eggs so fascinating. So I went to an ostrich farm, greeted the fluffy mums and gratefully received a few of their eggs...
Have you ever seen or held one? The shell is so thick and beautifully structured. And the colours! I had to do something with this enormous source of inspiration so I picked up my pencils and started drawing the eggs. Just the eggs, trying to get the colour right...
After that, my wonky mind started to wander - as it so often does - and I thought how funny it would be if the eggs where characters, main figures in wonky situations. I started to draw postcards with these prehistoric eggs as a main figure for my friends and family. Whenever someone was ill, had his or her Birthday, needed to celebrate or was in need of a little hug, I drew eggs to make others happy.
