Chichi Ilonzo Momah

Job Titles:
  • RPh., Springfield Pharmacy Owner
Chichi Ilonzo Momah, PharmD, RPh. is a graduate of Temple University's School of Pharmacy, and owns the Springfield Pharmacy in Springfield, PA since 2012. Though born in New Jersey, Chichi was raised in her family's native Nigeria in a multigenerational household. It was here that she witnessed her grandparents' struggles with diabetes, and the lack of education and resources available to the general public to manage such conditions. The experience is what first sparked Chichi's ambition to become a pharmacist, and advocate for the treatment of those who could not do so themselves. During the shortage of the new shingles vaccine in 2018, Chichi partnered with a vaccine manufacturer to gain access, and was the only pharmacy to stock the vaccine across multiple counties in her area. Chichi made waves in the spring of 2021 when her pharmacy was chosen as one of the first sites in PA's Delaware County, the largest county in the nation without a public health department, to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. Though her team's reach was at first limited to patients in highest priority Group 1A, and even more so by allocation, Chichi continued to push for additional supply from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and lean on her partnerships within the Delaware County community to deliver as many shots to as many people as possible. In a few short months, Chichi was able to extend her reach to multiple counties, liaising with school districts, churches and even an immigration coalition to reach underserved and difficult to access communities that would likely slip through the cracks without her intervention. Chichi and the team at Springfield Pharmacy's support of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout were featured locally and nationally, from the HHS, Philadelphia's FOX29, NBC Nightly News, and Philadelphia Inquirer to NPR News. She is currently the only approved Vaccine For Children (VFC) pharmacy provider in the state of Pennsylvania. She also partners with the Department of Health, local health departments, local community leaders, and various long terms care facilities to address vaccines hesitancies, and run vaccine clinics. Chichi serves on the Advisory Group to the Delaware County Medical Countermeasures, as a luminary to the Pennsylvania Pharmacy Care Network (PPCN), an Advisory Board member to the Elevate Pharmacy Services Administrative Organization (PSAO), and The Freckled Strawberry organizations. Chichi strives to challenge the perception that a pharmacist is simply an individual who dispenses prescriptions. Beyond dispensing, Chichi is serving various Long Term Care (LTC) facilities, developed a comprehensive weight loss management program, partnered with local providers and the health department to bring optimal care to her community by offering a wide range of other clinical services at Springfield Pharmacy. Chichi and her team run and maintain a home visit vaccine program to help homebound patients in Delaware County. Nationally, she won the; Chichi lives in Malvern, PA with her husband and two children. And offers speaking engagements to help educate patients, bringing care directly to the patients, especially in the underserved communities, to help bridge the gap of healthcare disparities. Through her work - which she says is driven by her care philosophy of ‘leading with love,' she has proven that pharmacists are problem solvers, leaders and above all, a critical patient advocate.
