STELIOS GARDENS

Stelios Gardens was a lovely quiet haven in Malia, close to the tranquil side of malia; the sleepy port with lovely restaurants (the blue sea taverna,Drossia & Thalassa were our favourites), lovely beaches (one 5 min walk) & another we favoured was a 10min ride to potamous beach. From the hotel it is easy to reach all parts of Malia on foot & we found it to be a good base for travelling. We stayed for 10 nights & hired a car, the hotel was only a 30min drive from the airport & we found it easy to drive to Agios Nikólaos, the Lasithi plateau, dikteon cave, Réthymnon, Elounda for the boat to spinalonga, Plaka beach & potamous beach. There are lots of companies offering excursions along the beach road, all quite reasonable. We booked to go to Santorini by fast boat which was a lovely day but the main stops on Santorini were very busy. We also went to Balos which was a very long day but again a great experience and to a traditional Cretan night up in the mountains which was really good..
