Dr Souter qualified from Edinburgh University before undertaking further training in anaesthesia in Oxford, Berkshire and Stoke Mandeville, receiving the FRCA in 1991. He then completed a fellowship diploma in pain management in Dallas, Texas and became a fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2008. Dr Souter has been working as a consultant in his field in Bath for over 17 years and is highly interested and motivated by his involvement in the management of pain problems in patients.

She practices all aspects of general dermatology in adults (diagnosis, and where required investigation and treatment of skin complaints) including acne and acne scarring, eczema, psoriasis, skin rashes and some hair and scalp disorders. Her specialist interests include the diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of sun damage and pre-cancerous skin lesions, moles (benign or malignant), and unwanted lumps and bumps (including cysts, and skin tags). Her NHS role is focussed on the diagnosis and treatment of malignant (cancerous) skin lesions which include Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) and Malignant Melanoma (MM) and subsequently, she attends the specialist skin cancer multidisciplinary team (SSMDT) meetings weekly. This allows Dr. Wright to establish best practice and up-to-date treatments for her patients with complex or high-risk skin cancers amongst specialist colleagues. She is skin Cancer Lead Clinician for North Bristol NHS Trust.

I am a Consultant Cardiologist based in Bath and Bristol with a specialist interest in complex angioplasty. I work full time at the Royal United Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and contribute to the 24/7 Emergency Service at the Bristol Heart Institute, which covers the regional heart attack service. I provide a contemporary, evidence-based service, which is patient-focused, to investigate and treat a broad range of cardiovascular problems. These include the investigations and management of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and fainting. My sub-speciality is coronary intervention - using wires, balloons and stents to treat narrowing's within coronary arteries. I am a high volume operator (I performed 224 cases in 2018, compared to a national average of 123 cases) and perform the majority of my cases through the radial artery, which is proven to be the safest route. I have excellent outcomes and safety record with a complication rate well below those predicted in the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society (BCIS) statistical model (0.75% actual vs. 2.3% predicted). The most important person during any investigation or procedure is always the patient and I am strongly engaged with governance and quality improvement to ensure that teams work effectively to provide the best patient care possible. I am closely involved in the education and training of Junior Doctors and contribute to a number of National and International research trials and registries. I sit on the National BCIS Council and I am a member of the BCIS Training and Education Group.

Dr Deidre Buckley is an internationally recognised Consultant Dermatologist with a special interest in allergies. She has an extensive research background and is an internationally recognised expert and lecturer in the area of fragrance allergy. She has her private practice at Sulis Hospital Bath. Dr Buckley studied medicine at University College Cork (Ireland). She trained in specialized skin cancer surgery units in Birmingham and London, and as Senior Registrar in Dermatology at University College Hospital, London. She received specialist training in contact dermatitis at the Department of Cutaneous Allergy, St Thomas' Hospital, London and in general allergy at Imperial College London and the Department of Cutaneous Allergy, Amersham. In 2001, she was appointed as Consultant Dermatologist at Great Western Hospital NHS Trust, Swindon. Over a ten-year period she developed the allergy, skin cancer surgery and phototherapy services in Swindon, in particular setting up an integrated NHS Type I (prick test) service for allergy patients. After her recruitment to the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust in 2011, she ran a busy Type IV (patch test) NHS Allergy Clinic. At Sulis Hospital Bath, Dr Buckley runs a specialist allergy and prick test service for adults and children over the age of 18 years with suspected allergy to latex, local anaesthetics, nuts and other foods, pets, pollen, dust and moulds, venom allergy, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, asthma, atopic eczema and undiagnosed anaphylaxis. She also provides sublingual immunotherapy for patients allergic to grass or tree pollen, animals or house dust mite. In 2022 she was awarded the prestigious Bisset Hawkins Gold Medal. This is a triennial award, endowed by Captain Edward Wilmot Williams in 1896, made by the Royal College of Physicians of London to acknowledge work done in the preceding ten years in advancing sanitary science or promoting public health. It is named after Francis Bisset Hawkins (1796-1884), a distinguished London physician and is presented after the Harveian Oration. Dr Buckley continues her national research work, is a committee member of the British Society for Cutaneous Allergy (having served as President 2018-2021) and is the UK elected representative to the European Society of Contact Dermatitis.

Dr Raveen Kandan is a Consultant Cardiologist with a broad range of experience in all aspects of general and interventional cardiology. Unique to other interventional cardiologists, Raveen has a strong foundation in echocardiography (BSE accredited). He is part of the regional pulmonary hypertension team and is also dual accredited in General Internal Medicine. This broad range of expertise allows him to undertake a thorough and complete assessment of patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, fainting and other symptoms. Raveen utilises contemporary, evidence-based techniques to achieve the best outcome for his patients. His practice is patient centred, with a strong emphasis on shared decision making. He strives to be accessible and approachable, and to communicate information in a clear and timely manner to patients and other healthcare professionals. Raveen is clinical governance lead for cardiology at RUH Bath. In this role he has developed and supported numerous initiatives to improve patient safety, experience, quality and governance processes within his department and Trust. Outside clinical and governance work, Raveen spends his time teaching and supporting students. He is a senior teaching associate with the University of Bristol, serving primarily as a clinical tutor for year 3 medical students. Jenny trained as a registered nurse in North Devon District Hospital over 30 years ago and has worked in a surgical setting for the majority of that time. She was charge nurse in Florida, USA for two years on a general surgical ward, then completed her cardiothoracic ENB course at Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire. Jenny's qualifications include a BSc in Professional Nursing Studies and Research and an MSc in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. Jenny then moved to Bupa Hospitals in Bristol (now Spire) to continue caring for cardiac surgical patients and moved to a Matron post in Specialised Services at University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust in 2009, covering cardiology, cardiac surgery, haematology and oncology, but also working in surgery and gynaecology during that period. Mr Alex Cowey is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon who specialises in hand surgery at Sulis Hospital Bath. Since graduating from Manchester University, he has undertaken Higher Surgical Training in Orthopaedics and Trauma at Oswestry, an international centre for orthopaedic training. In 2007 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedics and Trauma. He subsequently began a highly specialised training fellowship in Hand Surgery in Manchester and Wrightington, where he learned from some of the best hand surgeons in the UK. In 2009 he was awarded a diploma in Hand Surgery by the British Society for the Surgery of the Hand. Mr Cowey undertakes all forms of Hand and Wrist surgery including trauma and is part of a local network of hand and wrist surgeons who regularly discuss complex cases and their practices to ensure he maintains exceptional standards and continues to learn for those around him. Mr Cowey is a keen educator and has received awards for his teaching of medical students as well as training the hand surgeons of the future. He has lectured in hand surgery both nationally and internationally. He has sat on the Educational and Training committee for the British Society for the Surgery of the Hand and is a faculty member of the AO Foundation - an internationally recognised authority in trauma surgery. Mr Andrew Chambler is an Orthopaedic Consultant and Specialist Shoulder surgeon at Sulis Hospital Bath. He leads the Upper Limb unit and is referred patients from the south west of England as well as internationally from countries such as Pakistan and Bahrain. He is a specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery. A large part of his practice is made up of shoulder and elbow joint replacements and tendon problems. He trained at St Mary's Hospital in London, followed by the Northwest Thames Orthopaedic rotation program. His Master of Surgery was undertaken at Imperial College. He is fellowship trained in shoulder and elbow surgery from the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. He has been awarded travelling fellowships to Europe and the Mayo Clinic in the USA to further developed his experience in shoulder and elbow disorders. Mr Chambler was a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Yeovil District Hospital for many years and joined Sulis Hospital Bath in 2010 as a surgical partner. Mr Anthony MacQuillan

Anthony is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in aesthetic surgery at Sulis Hospital Bath. He graduated from the Royal London Hospital Medical College in 1997 and undertook his specialist training in plastic surgery at Mount Vernon Hospital (now moved to the Royal Free Hospital) and Guys and St Thomas's Hospital in London. Additional super- specialist training included the renowned Aesthetic Fellowship at the Wellington Hospital, London and a further fellowship in Paris, as well as gaining a research doctorate degree in nerve reconstruction from the University of London. His cosmetic practice includes facial aesthetic surgery (including eyelid surgery, face lifting, neck lifting, rhinoplasty and ear surgery), breast surgery (augmentation, uplift, reduction and fat grafting or lipofilling) and body contouring (tummy tuck procedures, arm and thigh lift and massive weight loss re-contouring). In his aesthetic practice, Anthony prides himself on the delivery of personal and tailored care to all of his patients, from initial consultation through to a comprehensive aftercare package. In order to maximise the flow of information during the consultation process, Anthony is able to offer the Canfield Vectra H1 3D-imaging system to help with the pre-operative planning process which is particularly useful for rhinoplasty and facial aesthetic procedures. Mr Ben Lankester

Ben Lankester is a specialist knee surgeon at Sulis Hospital Bath and has been a consultant since 2007. After training in Oxford, Bath and Bristol, he completed fellowship training in arthroscopic knee cartilage surgery, knee ligament reconstruction, traumatic knee injuries and all types of knee replacement surgery. Mr Lankester also utilises the latest innovative surgical technologies to provide knee replacement surgery. Performing knee replacements using robotic-arm assisted technology, he is able to offer patients several benefits over and above standard surgery. As a specialist knee surgeon, he is often referred patients by colleagues for a second opinion or for more complex surgery. He has an active interest in teaching and research, and reviews articles for three different orthopaedic journals. In 2017 he was elected to the South West Clinical Senate Council - a body that advises on reforming healthcare pathways across the region. Mr Lankester submits data from all joint replacement operations to the National Joint Registry, from which he can show that improvements in function after surgery and re-operation rates are better than average in his patients. Mr John is an associate specialist who has worked at the RUH in Bath for the last 15 years. He specialises in general and laparoscopic surgery as well as emergency surgery. He has performed over 1000 hernia repairs, with lower than national average complication rates. He has particular experience in local anaesthetic hernia repair, as well as laparoscopic hernia repair. He is involved with training juniors and teaches on the Basic Surgical Skills Course and the regional deanery skills course Mr John currently only provides NHS services at Sulis Hospital Bath.

I have shaped my career supporting patients within the field of obesity, providing effective nutritional interventions to promote sustained weight loss, but also improve weight-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. I have gained extensive experience within the field of obesity which has led to me expanding my practice within the speciality of Bariatric Surgery and becoming a Bariatric Dietetic Practitioner. My intervention involves tailoring nutritional plans that work for the individual, avoiding a ‘one-size-fits-all' approach. As a dietitian, I provide evidence-based nutritional intervention and steer patients away from ‘fad-diets'. I am passionate about supporting patients to achieve the best possible outcome, ensuring that the patient achieves their aims and optimises their nutritional status. As well as nutritional intervention, I believe in a multi-professional approach to weight management which may involve surgical, medical, psychological and/or exercise treatments. I aim to provide patients with knowledge and skills that will assist them life-long, promoting physical, psychological and nutritional wellness. I was awarded a prestigious NIHR research grant to undertake clinical research within the field of bariatric surgery. The research investigated the long term management of vitamin and mineral provision within a postoperative bariatric surgery population. I have been involved in developing local policy and guidelines relating to weight management and bariatric surgery to ensure the provision of exceptional patient care.

Mr Darren Pinder

Mr Derek Robinson

Mr Robinson is a specialist Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Sulis Hospital Bath. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of the whole spectrum of foot and ankle conditions. Mr Robinson specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including ankle arthroscopies, deformity, reconstruction, replacement and fusion, bunion removal, sports injuries and trauma. After initial surgical training at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, he undertook orthopaedic training in Bristol and completed a Trauma and Sports Injury Fellowship in Vancouver. He was awarded the European Travelling Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery in 2005 and has trained under leading surgeons in this field throughout the UK, Europe and North America. He was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal United Hospital, Bath in 2005 and limits his elective practice exclusively to dealing with foot and ankle problems. Due to his highly specialised field of interest he is often sent patients with complex problems for a second opinion. Mr Robinson is passionate about achieving the best possible outcome for all his patients. Derek Robinson is married and spends his spare time walking his dogs, looking after his pet sheep and goats and maintaining his small holding and area of woodland. Mr Dominic Ayers

Mr Dominic Ayers is a skin cancer and skin lesion consultant at Sulis Hospital Bath. He is a qualified Consultant Plastic Surgeon and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers and skin lesions. His particular interest is in BCC (Basal Cell Cancer), moles, Melanoma and SCC (Squamous Cell Cancer). He sees patients for the diagnosis and treatment of harmless but unwanted skin lesions, as well as those with suspected cancer. Dominic runs the mole mapping service at Sulis Hospital which screens for potentially harmful moles and skin cancer. He has many patients with sun damage and employs a number of treatments both surgical and non-surgical. Mr Ayers studied medicine at Cambridge University where he graduated with honours before serving as a surgeon in the Royal Navy. He later returned to hospitals in the UK in order to specialise in plastic surgery. He has undertaken fellowships in plastic surgery both in South Africa and in London. During his higher surgical training he was awarded the Fellow Royal College of Surgeons (Plastic Surgery) and entered onto the GMC's specialist register for Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. Mr Ayers now works as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol and The Royal United Hospital, Bath where again, his elective practice is treating only skin lesions and skin cancer. He enjoys spending time getting to know and understand his patients and believes in personal and professional care. Mr Ayers receives referrals from GPs as well as welcoming patients with skin lesion concerns who have not seen their GP. He also receives referrals from other specialists for skin lesions and cancers. As a specialist skin surgeon he treats difficult lesion in the skin of the nose, ears, lips and scalp, which are commonly passed on to him by other consultants.

Mr Donald Sammut

Mr Sammut is a Consultant Hand Surgeon who works mainly at Sulis Hospital Bath with a smaller practice in London. He qualified as a doctor from Charing Cross Hospital, University of London, and trained first as a General Surgeon in London and Bedford (FRCS Eng), before training in Plastic Surgery, in London, Liverpool, Salisbury, Billericay and Manchester (FRCS Plast). His higher training included Hand Fellowships with specialists in Strasbourg (Guy Foucher), London (David Evans), and Barcelona (Marc Garcia Elias), with an additional Fellowship in Craniofacial and Aesthetic Surgery in Paris (Daniel Marchac). In 1993 he was appointed Consultant Hand Surgeon at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and he has, since then, specialised exclusively in Hand Surgery. He is particularly well known for reconstruction of the hand after trauma and paralysis as well as Anatomy and Biomechanics. He established the Hand Unit at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol and the Congenital Hand Unit at the Bristol Children's Hospital and ran these services between 1993 and 2003. He left the NHS in 2003 and has been in full-time private practice since. Over the period 1999 -2009, he also held a simultaneous appointment as Congenital Hand Surgeon in the Humanitas Hospital in Milan, Italy. Mr Sammut is extensively involved in the Organisation, Education and Training of Hand Surgery in Britain and the rest of Europe, and was until recently examiner and exam setter, for the final examinations in Hand Surgery for both the British and European Diploma (English, French, Italian). He continues as tutor to the British Diploma in Hand Surgery. He has served two periods on Council of the BSSH. Since 1999 he has traveled annually to work and teach in Leprosy communities, initially in India and, since 2009 in Nepal. He founded the charity Working Hands. and leads a team of 8 to three hospitals in Nepal each year, operating, and teaching local surgeons and UK surgeons who travel with him. He holds the post of Visiting Senior Lecturer at Kirtipur Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal. Mr Sammut is a dedicated teacher of Anatomy and Hand Surgery and mentor to junior surgeons and other consultants. He regularly hosts Fellows in Hand Surgery in his practice. He runs cadaver dissection courses in Anatomy and the longest running of these courses (annually since 1996) is established as part of the curriculum of Hand training in the UK. He is particularly active as a teacher of British and Italian Trainees. He holds a visiting Hand Surgery Consultant post in Bergamo University, Italy. Mr Duncan Leadbetter

He was the 2018 recipient of the Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Scholarship, an award that was presented to him in Las Vegas for career-long achievements in the field of hip and knee joint replacement. He spent a year in Vancouver working in one of the world's most prestigious and impressive arthroplasty units, gaining a wealth of experience in hip and knee joint replacement. His other fellowships include the Bristol hip surgery fellowship where he gained additional experience in hip preservation and arthroscopic hip surgery, and a fellowship in complex adult lower limb trauma. His formal academic training has been acquired as the advanced hip research fellow in Bristol where he completed his MD thesis exploring how different approaches to hip and knee surgery can improve the results for patients. Following this, he completed an NIHR funded Clinical Lectureship at the University of Bristol. His research interests are focussed on getting the best possible results for patients. Mr James Fagg

Mr Fagg is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in adult shoulder and elbow surgery as well as all aspects of children's orthopaedic surgery. He completed his undergraduate studies in Leicester before completing his basic surgical training in South Yorkshire. He then received orthopaedic registrar training in two of the most respected regions of the country, South Yorkshire and the Severn region.
