PETbc was established in 2009, at the instigation of Sir Colin Spedding, after a series of meetings of canine trainers and behaviourists held under the auspices of the Companion Animal Welfare Council (CAWC). Part of the CAWC remit was to achieve common standards in dog behaviour and training. The PETbc was the first and only organisation in the UK to be approved by Sir Colin Spedding following the 2008 review into the industry... The PETbc represents organisations, partners and affiliates who work in the canine education sector in the UK. These can be divided into two groups. The canine behaviourists / psychologists and professional dog trainers who may specialise in dog behaviour at higher levels of problem behaviour reformation. The second group are other disciplines that are mainly education and or a skill set that involves understanding dog behaviour, assessments, genetics and breeding programmes for stable temperaments.
