MATTHEW HASENJAGER

I am a behavioral ecologist and postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS). My research investigates the complex pathways by which information, materials, and resources flow through groups and how these pathways are shaped by social, cognitive, and ecological factors. Using fish shoals and social insect colonies as empirical systems, I combine behavioral experiments and computer simulations with social network approaches, allowing me to tap into a powerful set of tools for describing and analyzing the structure and function of social systems.
