Dr. Kaplan received his medical degree and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida wherein he served as Chief Resident as well as Chairman of the Resident Graduate Medical Education Committee. He then moved to New York City for a Surgical Glaucoma Fellowship at Columbia University. During his time in New York City, he was an Instructor in Ophthalmology at Columbia University and an Associate Professor at New York University. He was honored by being responsible for medical and surgical education for ophthalmology resident doctors. His academic pursuits involve research of aqueous dynamics to better understand pathophysiology of glaucoma.
Dr. Kaplan is a member of the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society, the American Glaucoma Society, the New York Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology
Dr. Kaplan is a Board Certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgery. He performs laser cataract surgery, using premium intraocular lenses to provide distance and near vision with the goal of not needing glasses after surgery as well as medical, laser, and surgical treatment of glaucoma.
Board-certified ophthalmologist G. Richard Cohen, MD, is the medical director and chief refractive surgeon at Cohen Laser & Vision Center in Boca Raton, Florida. He is a fellowship-trained corneal specialist and is among an elite group of ophthalmologists in South Florida who specialize in eye diseases, corneal surgery, and laser vision correction.
Dr. G. Richard Cohen is a fellowship-trained cornea surgeon, who has imparted much of his wisdom and experience to his son, Joshua. Joshua himself brings new insights into the latest medical advancements and modern surgical techniques. Together, both doctors have over 40 years of experience in refractive surgery.
Joshua Cohen, MD, grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, and spent many summers working alongside his father, Richard Cohen, MD, at Cohen Laser & Vision Center to learn about the practice and general eye care. Dr. Cohen is excited to be once again working alongside his father, now as a colleague to carry on the tradition of providing exceptional state-of-the-art refractive cataract and corneal surgery to South Floridians.
Dr. Joshua Cohen is the son of Dr. Richard Cohen and carries forward his father's dedication to helping people see as clearly as possible.
