Miss Saswati Maitra

Miss Saswati Maitra qualified from Calcutta University in 1993. She did her specialist training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the North West Thames region in London, primarily at St Mary's Hospital. There she had the privilege of training with some eminent doctors in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has been a key member in setting up the new Gynaecology Direct Referral Unit at Northwick Park Hospital, where women with early pregnancy problems and emergency gynaecology problems (like pelvic pain and very heavy menstrual bleeding) are able to walk in and have their problems sorted. Surgery is performed, if necessary, and patients are discharged home as soon as possible, thereby providing a better patient experience. Miss Maitra's main clinical interest is in the field of emergency gynaecology and high risk obstetrics. Her special interests are: gynaecology ultrasound (including 3D gynaecology scanning), early pregnancy problems (including recurrent and late miscarriages, poor obstetric history, ectopic pregnancies) and one stop gynaecology clinics, particularly for pelvic pain and irregular/heavy vaginal bleeding. Miss Vickie Lee

Miss Vickie Lee is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Imperial College and London North West Healthcare NHS Trusts. She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College School of Medicine. She specializes in treatment of all orbital lacrimal and eyelid conditions (including cosmetic) and watering and dry eyes. Miss Lee is a leading specialist in orbital trauma and thyroid eye disease. She is the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society's National Lead for Thyroid Eye Disease(TED) and authored the national guidelines for TED and lead the compilation of a national directory for thyroid eye services. She leads multidisciplinary TED services across 3 NHS hospitals for TED that are internationally recognised . Miss Lee is also the Principal Investigator for Clinical Trials for novel treatments for Thyroid eye disease . She has also published extensively many TED and orbital trauma papers in leading peer reviewed journals. Miss Lee works closely with an extensive network of leading specialists from other medical and surgical disciplines to ensure her patients can access the best multi-disciplinary care possible. Miss Lee is part of a small group of lacrimal specialists who is highly experienced in performing endonasal dacryocystorhinstomy for tear duct obstruction. Alongside her clinical work, Miss Lee is dedicated to education, both for the medical students at Imperial College and for the future generation of ophthalmologists. She was awarded a teaching development grant from Imperial College to develop the online ophthalmology teaching platform and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer and Clinical Teacher on the BSc research program. She and her colleagues also run a successful oculoplastic fellowship program for the next generation of oculoplastic surgeons. Mr Alex Woodhams

Expertise: EEG, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) Mr Alex Woodhams is a specialised clinical physiologist with 15 years' experience in the field of intra-operative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) and a keen interest in critical care neurophysiology. In 2006 he started his career in IONM at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore. The RNOH is the busiest orthopaedics and spinal centre in the UK, where he gained extensive experience of IONM during a wide range of spinal, neurosurgical and peripheral neurosurgical procedures. He continued his education in neurophysiology when I moved to The Wellington Hospital in St John's Wood and completed a degree in clinical neurophysiology. He was lucky enough to be supported by Richard Pottinger at The Royal London who imparted some of his vast wealth of knowledge in Electroencephalography (EEG) and Evoked Potentials (EP), which sparked his interest in critical care neurophysiology. During his time at The Wellington Hospital, he developed the IONM service to include full multi-modal monitoring for a wide range of surgical procedures. Here I also had the privilege of working of working with a team of visiting cardiothoracic surgeons from Huston, TX who specialised in the repair of aortic aneurysms. It was a fantastic opportunity and subsequently lead to him providing IONM for elective aortic repair for many teams across London. In 2017 he returned to the RNOH, where in addition to providing IONM, he led service development for the department. His latest accomplishment was the creation of a mobile EEG and EP service for critical care units at neighbouring hospitals. In addition to his substantive posts in 2015 he joined forces with Dr Joseph Cowan and an equipment supplier to create SCM Healthcare Solutions Ltd. He has developed highly effective IONM and diagnostic solutions which are underwritten by comprehensive insurance with extended Professional, Public and Product Indemnity. Based in London, they deliver their services at many facilities across the Capital and the South of England. When not working, Mr Woodhams enjoys keeping fit, spending time renovating furniture and gardening.

He was a lead author on the multinational trial of cannabis for overactive bladder in MS. His research has led to internationally recognised prizes and awards. He trained in the North West London Urology rotation, completing his training in a Fellowship post in the internationally recognised department of female and reconstructive urology at University College London Hospital. He is a recognised educator for junior doctors being a Course Director for the North West London Mock FRCS(Urol) viva course and examiner for higher surgical trainees in London. Professor Patrick Kennedy is a Reader in Hepatology, Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist at Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry, QMUL. He is a leading expert in liver disease and his research is known internationally. His main clinical interests are liver disease; assessment of liver disease using non-invasive modalities such as Fibroscan; alcohol, fatty and viral liver disease. He has a special interest in liver disease in young people and runs a dedicated young adult liver service at The Royal London Hospital. Professor Kennedy also manages liver disease in professional sports people and elite athletes. Professor Patrick Kennedy is an expert advisor for NICE and he provides key opinion for the United Kingdom Advisory Panel on blood-borne viruses. He is the Hepatology lead for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section at the Royal Society of Medicine. He is also the chief/principal investigator for a number of investigator-led and commercial phase 1, 2 and 3, clinical trials in HBV therapy.
