Ben Whitwell

Ben is a creative director with a background in citywide campaigns including for the public sector, charities, cultural organisations, international tech companies and educational publications. Organisations he's worked with include the Football Association, Bristol City Council, Bath Council, TM Forum, Costa Coffee, the West of England Combined Authority and Collins Aerospace. Ben has a strong print and digital background, along with directing and producing short films and animation.

Caitlin Bowring

Caitlin has a background in journalism and copywriting, and has worked with media outlets including Bristol 24/7, Groupon, Sawday's, and University Business magazine. She has recently completed her NCTJ Diploma in journalism. She is responsible for the day-to-day management and support for a number of Strike's clients, using her journalistic skills to seek out the best stories and media opportunities. Prior to joining Strike, she was part of the communications team at the Diocese of Bristol and Church of England.

Catherine Frankpitt - Founder

Strike was founded by Catherine Frankpitt, who has more than 20 years' PR and communications experience, and has worked with organisations large and small across business, the public sector, charities and the third sector, and higher education. Organisations she's worked with include Bristol Beacon, Paraorchestra, the Royal West of England Academy, Anvil Arts, Community of Purpose, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Bath & NE Somerset Council, the West of England Combined Authority and the University of Greenwich. Prior to Strike, she was Director of Communications for UWE Bristol, responsible for overseeing the entire communications function for the university. Catherine is a Chartered PR Practitioner and Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

James Turgoose

James has two decades of experience of working in and around Westminster, including over 15 years of advisory work for clients across the public and private sectors. He has worked with a wide range of sectors including energy, transport, healthcare, the built environment, inward investment, economic development, local government, housing and higher education. He is a member of the PRCA, a Liveryman in the City of London and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Karen White

Karen has worked in agencies and in-house for over 20 years. She originally trained as a journalist, working both nationally and regionally. She has led on large PR and stakeholder engagement projects for clients including Sainsburys and National Grid, and has specific sector expertise in professional services, healthcare, recruitment and charities. She has been a long-serving member of the Institute of Directors senior team in the South West and is a Trustee of Bristol Museums Development Trust, The Stradling Collection and Pahar Trust Nepal.

Mateo Handley

Mateo cut his teeth in PR with a small London-based PR agency following a degree at UWE Bristol in criminology and time spent working as a surf instructor in Portugal. He has a keen interest in public affairs and brings fresh ideas and great writing skills.

Stephen Waddington

Stephen supports Strike with strategic development, leadership, and management. He has worked in senior agency roles during his 25-year career, including founding Rainier PR and Speed. His client experience includes Amazon, BMW, Capita, IBM, IKEA, Phillips. Salesforce and Microsoft. Stephen has held the role of Visiting Professor in Practice at Newcastle University since 2015, supporting the university and students through teaching and mentoring. Stephen was President of the CIPR in 2014, during which time he helped return the organisation to its roots of professionalism as set out in its Royal Charter. He is a Chartered public relations practitioner; member of the IoD, IPRA, and IoIC; and Fellow of both the CIPR and PRCA.
