Dr Abeer Al Saegh is a board-certified medical geneticist specialized in cancer genetics with over 12 years of experience in familial cancer syndromes, developmental disorders and syndromic susceptibility to cancer associated disorders. She received her Doctor of Medicine (M. D) from Sultan Qaboos University followed by residency in medical genetics at University of Calgary in Alberta and fellowship in cancer genetics at NHS university hospitals in the United Kingdom. She is an Oman Medical Specialty Board trainer currently the head of Genomics Department and in-charge of Training in SQCCCRC.

He completed his residency in medicine and fellowship training in Oncology at Aga khan University Hospital, and Southampton Hospital. Since 1997, he has been working as consultant in Medical Oncology at the Aga khan University, Karachi, and then at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Muscat, Oman. Now he is working at SQCCCRC. Besides clinical trials, he has been actively involved in teaching, and assessment of medical students, and has held several administrative positions in teaching and implementation of undergraduate curriculum. He has also conducted several seminars and workshops for continuing medical education for postgraduates, nurses and clinical practitioners. He has had several funded research grants to his credit, and has more than 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals. His area of clinical and research interest includes Gynecological Oncology, Lymphoproliferative disorders, and Supportive Care in Oncology. Dr Jayakrishnan B Nair

Dr. Jayakrishnan is a Senior Consultant in Pulmonology in the Head & Neck and Thoracic program, Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre, Muscat, OMAN. Till recently he was working in the same grade in the Pulmonology Unit, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Muscat. He was working as an Associate Professor, Department of Pulmonology in PSG Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore, India and later as a Consultant in Ministry of Health, Kuwait before joining SQU in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Indian Chest Society (FICS) and the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP). He graduated from Medical College, Calicut, India and then did his post-graduation in Respiratory Medicine from Medical College, Trivandrum. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board, India in Respiratory Medicine. He is trained in all aspects of Pulmonology including pleural and bronchoscopic interventions. He has around 60 publications in different aspects of Respiratory Medicine and is involved in the teaching of medical students for more than 30 years. He is an Associate Editor of SQU Medical Journal. He is actively involved in the hospital quality initiatives in SQCCCRC and in the former hospitals as well. He is an active member in different medical societies like Indian Chest Society, Chest Council of India, American College of Chest Physicians, Royal College of Physicians, European Respiratory Society, Indian Association of Bronchology and Association of Physicians of India. Till recently he was the General Secretary of Oman Respiratory Society.

Dr Jorge Abarca

Dr Abarca completed his medical training at the ITESM/University of Valencia. He completed training and a residency program in Microbiology/Infectious Diseases at Complutense University in Madrid, Spain and has worked as a Consultant at SQCCCRC since 2021, acting as Infectious Diseases HOD. He coordinates inpatient and outpatient infection associated diagnosis, controls the antimicrobial stewardship program and collaborates with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Clinical Pharmacy and Microbiology Departments. Prior to joining the Centre, Dr Abarca held a series of roles over a 20-year career in the medical field, including the role of Infectious Diseases Consultant in the United Kingdom, Consultant in Infectious Diseases in Saudi Arabia (KSA), and several roles as Consultant of Clinical Microbiology/Infectious Diseases Department in Madrid, Spain. Currently collaborating as Associate Lecturer and professor for European University of Madrid (Spain), University of Leeds (UK) and Complutense University (Spain). He is member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Spanish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, British Society for Antimicrobial Therapy, Spanish Medical Council.

He then completed a-two-years fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology including the minimally invasive micro laryngeal laser surgery at Lille University. Additionally, he received a national diploma in microsurgery organized by plastic and reconstructive surgery department at Lille University in 2020. Dr Juma is currently practicing as a surgical oncologist under the Head and Neck program at SQCCCRC focusing on the treatment of Head and Neck tumors including parotid, salivary glands, thyroid and parathyroid tumors. After completion of basic medical degree in 1996, she completed her residency in Anesthesiology and critical care in 2001 from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University, Jabalpur, India. She did her Post MD residency in Oncoanesthesia and Palliative care from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi from 2004- 2007. She also has Fellowship in Pain and Palliative Medicine from Gujarat cancer and Research Institute, Ahmedabad from 2020-2022 and from Dardia pain Institute, Kolkata, India. She has strong inclination towards academic activities and she is also trainer for Physician, Nurses and allied staff under National Program for palliative and geriatric care run by government of India. She is Faculty and moderator for Physician training in Medical use of essential Narcotic drugs (ENDs). Apart from being speaker in various conferences, she has international publications in palliative care. Dr. Varghese has been an expert in the field of infectious diseases and global health and currently serves on several national and international committees, including the Trustee of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, UK expert committee of the Indian Council of Medical Research and Governing Council of the Clinical Infectious Diseases Society. He has been honoured with several recognitions such as the Guerrant International Award by the Infectious Disease Society of America, the MG Alexander Award in Tropical Medicine by the Clinical Infectious Diseases Society, and Linnaeus-Palme Visiting Professor by the Swedish Government for the pioneering work in rickettsial infections. She is a Sultan Qaboos University graduate who was trained in general surgery at McGill University and did her fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Toronto. She has established the surgical oncology unit at SQUH focusing on a multidisciplinary approach and Evidence-based practices to make it THE center for complex surgical oncology in the country. She served multiple admittivities posts including the director of development and quality attaining the hospital platinum level accreditation Canada International, the head of the department of surgical division at SQCCCRC during its induction spearheading the translation of the project to reality, as well as an active member in many hospital-based and national committees. She is a passionate educator to undergraduate medical students and surgical residents under Oman medical specialty Board and was awarded a number of teaching awards in her carrier.
