Asha Xu - Founder

Asha met Stacy at the London Business School, bonding over their shared love of hiking and passionate advocacy for women. Asha had spent over a decade advocating for women through the Society of Women Engineers and UN Women. Because ending gender-based violence is close to Asha's heart, she joined Stacy in December 2020 to lend her expertise. Asha is dedicated to helping women live to their full potential, free from abuse.

Claudia Schechter

Job Titles:

Claudia has used her University of Maryland MBA and her life-long dedication to nonprofit work to help grow national women's and environmental organizations. She consults with over thirty emerging and grassroots social service, justice, and environmental nonprofits in the DC area by helping their leadership improve the organization's strategic and financial sustainability. Claudia believes empowering women financially creates healthy families and communities and jumped at the opportunity to bring her experience to FinAbility.

David Stock - CFO

David is an internationally experienced CFO/Director with 30 years on the ground in the Asia Pacific region. He has held executive positions in GE Capital, Tokyo Star Bank, and PayPal in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. He now makes his home in Portland, OR and is involved in advisory work and private equity. David understands the importance of financial literacy and appreciates the difference it can make in peoples' lives. He is a strong advocate of FinAbility's mission to deliver solutions in this regard.

Erik Lehr

Job Titles:

Erik holds graduate degrees in economics and computational finance and currently serves as the CIO of a wealth management firm. He has lived in the Pacific Northwest his whole life, and currently lives outside of Portland, OR. Erik believes that financial literacy is important for empowering survivors as they establish personal independence, and will use his experience in the finance industry to help serve the Finability team.

Katia Brahy

Katia comes from a diverse background in Client Relationships and Operations Management in the aerospace and financial industries. Currently she serves as the Director of Client Experience of Modernist Financial, helping progressive people structure their wealth around their values, with tools and services which are deeply rooted in behavioral finance. A Co-Chair of United Nations Association's Human Rights Group and a former political journalist, she aims to enhance FinAbility's approach to structural processes and community development through a creative and methodized prism. Her goal is to center human experience, wellbeing, and empowerment.

Linda Johnstone Sorensen - Chairman

Linda is an accomplished relationship-builder with a 14 year career using digital technologies to solve complex challenges in the global oil & gas, maritime, and transport sectors. She's passionate about start-ups with a conscience and has a personal commitment to the FinAbility cause as a survivor of domestic abuse. Linda has personally experienced how financial independence made breaking free possible and wants this for all survivors.

Ryan McKernan

Ryan graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Finance and has worked in the financial services industry for 15 years. He believes personal finance skills and capability can enable people of all backgrounds to achieve. In each professional role, Ryan's been involved in helping provide financial education opportunities for members of the community through a variety of platforms and channels. He brings his knowledge of financial institutions, banking services, and marketing background to the FinAbility team.

Scott Buchholz

Scott is a seasoned technology executive with almost 30 years of experience across a variety of industries. As a passionate teacher, Scott believes strongly in the value of education and financial literacy, and appreciates the difference it can make in peoples' lives. His goal is to make the process of learning easier for everyone and is a strong advocate for FinAbility and its mission.

Sierrah Chavis

  • Chief of Staff for ChildSavers
Sierrah Chavis is currently the Chief of Staff for ChildSavers, a mental health agency for children. Prior to that, she was an educational leader for 10 years, fulfilling the roles of curriculum specialist administrator, teacher, and special education case manager. As a survivor of domestic violence, Sierrah wants to empower other survivors and help provide them with the opportunity for a safe space financially and emotionally.

Stacy Sawin - CEO, Founder

As a stalking survivor, Stacy spent over three years seeking legal protection from her harm doer, which exposed her to the challenges survivors of domestic abuse and stalking endure. This prompted Stacy to volunteer over 600 hours at women service organizations and to earn an MBA from London Business School, where she studied entrepreneurship and change management. Prior to business school, Stacy was a management consultant at Deloitte, where she worked with nonprofits and government agencies. Stacy founded FinAbility in October of 2020 and is committed to ensuring all survivors have access to the financial resources needed to live independently and thrive.

Stephanie Pham

Job Titles:

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Stephanie graduated from Stanford University where she led activism and advocacy efforts in support of survivors of campus sexual violence. After graduating, Stephanie joined McKinsey & Company and worked with a variety of clients, primarily within healthcare, and drove efforts to increase gender diversity and inclusion in her office. Now, she is working in marketing for a women's health consumer start-up. Stephanie is proud to join the FinAbility team to continue the fight against gender-based violence and advocate for all survivors.
