Dr Gareth Kantor

Dr Gareth Kantor is an anaesthesiologist with interests in health system safety, performance improvement and precision medicine, an honorary lecturer at the University of Cape Town and assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He is on the faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, was a senior consultant to Discovery Health for 10 years and is currently associated with Insight Actuaries and Consultants.

Dr Greg Kew

Dr Greg Kew is a registered Occupational Medicine Specialist with the Health Professions Councils of South Africa, works in private practice and is an associate member of the College of Public Health Medicine (Division of Occupational Health). Greg completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town (UCT) where he graduated in 1986 (Awarded with honours, and the Final Professional examination with distinction). He continued his studies with postgraduate training in Occupational Medicine at UCT where he obtained a postgraduate diploma in Occupational Health in 1992. Greg is an honorary Senior Lecturer, Department of Occupational Health, Faculty of Health Sciences at the UCT Medical School and a member of the technical advisory Committee 7 of the Department of Employment and Labour, which is responsible for updating the Regulations for Hazardous Chemical Substances, Asbestos Regulations, and Lead Regulations. He is a national executive committee member of the South African Society of Occupational Medicine.

Dr Ivan Niranjan

Garth Hunter

Garth Hunter holds a Master's in Medical Science from the University of Natal. He is a Registered Occupational Hygienist at the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) and a Fellow Chartered Member South African Institute of Safety & Health - a position held by only five people in South Africa. Garth Hunter has been a principal inspector in occupational health and safety for the Department of Labour for the past nine years and has lectured on occupational hygiene at three South African universities for the past seven years. Garth serves as a director on the International Occupational Hygiene Association board, representing Southern Africa (SAIOH).

Norman Khoza

Norman Khoza holds a Master's Degree in Public Health, specialising in environmental and occupational health, from the University of Limpopo. Norman is a regional occupational health and safety specialist who assists African member states to develop and maintain safe work places and environmentally sustainable projects. He develops and reviews occupational health and safety, public health and environmental legal frameworks, and assists in the coordination of OHS cross-border initiatives, Norman is a technical expert on design and implementation of the Mobile Diagnostic Units for TB, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19. He has experience on research projects in governments, parastatal, and the private sector, including mining and non-mining sectors. Norman has served as the President of the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) since 2020.

Sean Chester

Sean Chester is the Technical Director of Apex Environmental - a leading environmental company in South Africa. Apex Environmental is a Department of Employment and Labour Approved Inspection Authority, and specialises in helping clients with their legal obligations and protecting the health of their employees and the public in general. Sean Chester holds an MPH in Occupational Hygiene from Wits University and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist and a Registered Senior Assessor at the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH). He is an honorary lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Sean serves on the the national Department of Health's and the KwaZulu-Natal provincial governments' COVID-19 task teams.
