Abdel Raouf Shams joined Ibrachy & Dermarkar in 2003. Abdel Raouf Shams ‘s main area of practice is litigation, with a special focus on civil, taxation and commercial disputes. His work includes customs and administrative disputes. Shams is also specialized in criminal law.

Alaa joined Ibrachy & Dermarkar in 2021. When joining our Firm, she was Junior Associate in the Procedural Department, gaining experience in corporate matters. She has further gained exposure in drafting and reviewing agreements, providing legal opinions on a wide variety of issues. She is currently in the Employment Department advising on aspects of employment, and social insurance matters.
Before joining I&D, Alaa worked as a Senior banking lawyer at one of the multi-national banks in Egypt.He has vast experience in banking matters, which include handling legal opinions on corporate matters, conducting and finalizing all legal investigations alongside drafting a memos as well as, reviewing and drafting all credit facilities contracts and syndications.
When joining I&D in 2022, Alaa worked on general corporate matters and is currently part of the Energy team. He advises the market-leading Energy companies on a wide range of issues, including exploration activities and the establishment of fuel terminals and pipeline facilities, as well as handling disputes in this field.
Alaa also has experience in drafting and reviewing various types of contracts e.g. lease, service, supply, distribution, settlement, management, and consultancy agreements.
Experience
Amr joined I&D in April 2023 as a Junior Associate in the Firm's Procedural Department. Prior to joining I&D Amr interned at several top-tier law firms in Egypt.
He works on different matters including, but not limited to drafting and reviewing various types of agreements, conducting legal research, providing legal opinions and advice on companies' incorporation, corporate process (i.e., liquidation, restructuring, drafting EGAMs, OGAMs, BODs, etc.). His work also includes handling regulatory matters and assisting in the due diligence process.
Education
Athar joined our Firm in 2019. Upon joining I&D, she gained exposure in general corporate matters. She worked on various matters in areas, such as, employment, consumer protection, data protection, pharmaceutical and corporate governance. She also was part of an arbitration case before Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.<br>
Currently, Athar is part of the Energy team, handling general matters related to Energy activities in Egypt (Upstream - Midstream - Downstream).

Batoul is a Junior Associate at I&D. Prior to joining our Firm, she worked at prominent law firms in Egypt, covering practice areas of Corporate and Dispute Resolution.
Dr. Amir Nabil is a Partner at I&D with international experience in trade and commercial legal matters, including I.P. licensing, franchise, and other forms of commercial agreements. He is among the few Egyptian experts in competition and economic regulation, handling complex merger and acquisition cases and related economic matters in the field. Dr. Amir has advised leading digital companies on compliance with data protection regulations in the MENA region and has solid experience in advising businesses in the pharmaceutical, digital, and tech industries.
He has litigated landmark cases in broadcasting sports rights and restrictive licensing practices of rights owners, successfully winning several cases against companies such as beIN Sports, Lagardere, C.A.F., and FIFA.
Dr. Amir is among the rare experts in the area of merger and acquisition control.
Throughout his practice in London, he advised international clients on their merger transaction under the EU merger control regulations in the banking and maritime sectors. He also advised clients under the COMESA merger rules. As a chairman of the Egyptian Competition Authority, he reviewed merger and acquisitions in the digital, food and healthcare sectors. During his tenure, he drafted Egypt first merger control chapter. He also advised clients in relation to the acquisition of IP-related rights. He drafted merger remedies in mega transactions helping clients to secure approvals for their transactions. He is among the rare experts in the area of pharmaceutical regulations and has assisted clients in this said sector in relation to their commercial agreements under international trade laws and regulations.

Dr. Essam Fayed is a Senior Associate at I&D. Before joining I&D, Dr. Essam was the general manager of the legal affairs in Misr Bank and led a team of lawyers and managers, He has More than 34 years of experience in Legal practice for many banks and leading law firms with a special focus on banking, labor law, judicial fees, and administrative disputes. He assists major multinational companies in different areas.
Dr. Sherif El Atfy is a partner at I&D and head of the Energy Law Department, with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector. He has advised on a range of matters related to hydrocarbon business operations, including farm out, seismic, concession, joint operating, and deal agreements.

Kamal Sherif is an Associate at I&D. Kamal has more than eight years of experience in the field of both litigation and arbitration. He has a wide range of expertise in litigatory matters in Egypt and UAE. Kamal handles litigation matters in various areas of law such as employment law, criminal law, civil law, and administrative law. Kamal handles client meetings, negotiations, and drafting of different types of legal memorandums in relation to arbitration cases.
Kamal also serves clients by providing them with legal opinions, legal research and advising them on the best course of action in various legal cases.

Mag. Mona O. Abdel Hafiz is the Head of the Corporate Procedural Department. Her practice areas include corporate, employment, entertainment, and sports law. Mahmoud is an Associate at I&D. Mahmoud works in the Litigation Department with more than five years of experience in the field and a special focus on Commercial, Civil and Tax matters. Mahmoud is well known for his strong research and drafting skills as well as his advisory skills to multinational companies. Mahmoud represents multinational companies before the courts and governmental entities where he also took part in many cases won by the office.
May's practice focuses mainly on advising clients and businesses in technology and media industries. May assists in drafting and negotiating all types of commercial agreements and provides complex legal analysis and opinions in the areas of Antitrust Law (Cartels, Abuse of dominance, Vertical Restraints and Merger Control). May has advised major market players in relation to other areas of the law such as Data Protection, Fintech, and Media.

Maymona joined I&D as an Associate in January 2022. Prior to joining, she worked as an associate in several well-known reputable Law Firms in Egypt.
Mohamed Ibrahim is an experienced lawyer who has worked with several leading law firms in Egypt. He joined our Firm in 2014. His practice areas include Litigation, Commercial and Corporate Law, with a special focus on Labor Law, Real Estate and Lease Disputes, social insurance, and notary office procedures.
Since 1997, Mr. Mostafa has built an impressive career as a civil litigator, representing major multinationals in complex litigation proceedings before the Egyptian Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
Mr. Mostafa has over 27 years of diverse experience in the field. He has pursued postgraduate studies, earning an LLM from King's College London, where he focused on the tension between Competition Law and Intellectual Property Law in the pharmaceutical sector. His dissertation, titled "Misleading Public Authorities in Evergreening as Anti-Competitive Practice," demonstrates his deep understanding of these complex legal issues.
Mr. Mostafa has specialized in IP litigation during his work for Ibrachy and Dermarkar Law Firm. He has successfully defended the interests of pharmaceutical originators against generic companies, leading to the cancellation of registrations for generic pharmaceutical preparations and the removal of these products from the records of the Egyptian Drug Authority. His extensive involvement in these disputes has allowed him to address comprehensive IP issues, such as the application and interpretation of the Bolar Exemption and Compulsory License and contribute to the establishment of new judicial principles in the Egyptian jurisdiction.
Mr. Mostafa has also achieved significant victories in IP litigation related to the oil and gas sector. He successfully defended the IP rights of one of the largest companies in the industry, resulting in the removal of the CR and trademarks of the infringer. Mostafa also won counter actions for the cancellation of trademarks owned by the oil and gas company, further solidifying his track record of success. He successfully defended French and multinational cement companies in upholding an acquisition agreement with the Egyptian Government to acquire a public cement company. His contributions to the teamwork showcased the agreement's legitimacy, which was concluded in good faith through public bidding. The court dismissed the lawsuit, affirming the validity of the transactions.

Mounir has been an associate in the Competition, Trade & Data Protection Department in I&D since September 2022.
Mr. Ahmed El Said is an experienced lawyer whose practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, particularly concerning taxes, real estate, customs, employment, administrative decisions, administrative contracts, commercial agencies, distribution, and franchise contracts.
Amr El Bakry is a lawyer with more than 22 years of experience in Real Estate and Public Law. He has been a part of the Firm since 2014. Presently, he heads the Real Estate department. Mr. El Bakry's expertise includes drafting and negotiating Real Estate contracts, examining deeds of title, and following up on registration procedures before the Notary Public, Egyptian General Survey Authority, and the New Urban Communities Authority. He has been admitted before the Egyptian Court of Cassation in 2010 and has significant experience in litigation, including criminal and civil matters related to real estate issues.

Walid Hafez is a Senior Attorney at I&D. He worked at several Law Firms prior to joining our Firm, which allowed him to gain various experiences in different fields of law.
Walid works in the Litigation Department where he handles different types of lawsuits such as civil, commercial, tax, administrative and labor lawsuits. He also has valuable experience in drafting contracts, providing legal consultations in different matters, and developing policies and legal strategies for companies to minimize the number of disputes with other entities.

Youmna is a lawyer well-versed in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing complex contracts for multinational companies. She is adept at providing insightful legal consultations and navigating diverse legal landscapes to advocate for clients' best interests. Her special focus area of work is space law, and specifically satellite legal matters. She has worked in this regard on legal consultations, contract review, negotiations and disputes.
Yousra was ranked the 1st in her year at the faculty of Law and Legal Studies, German University in Egypt. Yousra was appointed as a Teaching Assistance in both the German University in Egypt and the German International University where she taught Commercial Law, Business Law, and Legal Research Methods.
Yousra is currently working in the Litigation Department. She is proficient in drafting and reviewing legal memorandums and contracts. Her practice area focuses on employment law and taxation.
