Alan R. Sasserath - CEO

Alan R. Sasserath, CPA, MS is the Managing Partner of Sasserath & Co., LLP and a recognized leader in taking both Long Island and international businesses to the next level. Alan's technical experience includes working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses, dealing with matters related to both domestic and international tax. His industry experience includes technology companies, real estate management companies, construction, printing, as well as numerous service industries. Alan is a member of the SBC Global Alliance and International Tax Practitioners, international associations of leading independent firms providing audit, tax, accounting, assurance, and business advisory services around the world. He assists U.S.-based clients seeking to expand internationally as well as global clients setting up U.S. operations. Here on Long Island, he has become a go-to resource for the small and mid-sized businesses that keep the economy moving, advising on critical matters including mergers and acquisitions, maximizing profitability, and strategies to manage cash flow. Alan started his career at Ernst & Young prior to working at two large regional firms. He has over 30 years of public accounting firm experience with a broad background in accounting, tax, audit, and financial planning. In 1996, Alan started his own practice and formed what is known today as Sasserath & Co., LLP. Fred Rook

With a concentration in accounting and audit services, Fred Rook brings over two decades of public accounting firm experience to his clients. His industry experience includes working with medical practices, real estate operators and developers, staffing companies, restaurants, and many other industries. His depth of experience enables him to serve as a trusted business advisor to his clients, going far beyond individual matters to help clients see the whole picture and position themselves for success. Fred started his public accounting career in the real estate practice group of Ernst & Young before working in the audit groups of two large regional firms. He joined our firm in 2018, where he services large corporations, small businesses, and individuals on Long Island, across the country, and around the world. He also serves on the firm's Leadership Team, spearheading the firm's training initiatives. Fred is an accomplished lecturer, teaching a number of CPE classes on various subjects. George Batas

George Batas has in-depth experience advising closely held businesses as well as high-net-worth individuals on a wide range of complex tax issues. His work includes the preparation of sales tax returns for all states, nexus consultation and analysis, exposure analysis, voluntary disclosures for sales tax and income tax, sales tax audits, residency audits, and state registrations. He conducts complex tax research on a wide variety of topics, including Qualified Opportunity Zones, Section 199A deductions, and Section 163k limitations. Most recently, he has dedicated himself to understanding the ins and outs of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), helping clients maximize their loan forgiveness during a time of unprecedented financial strain. George also provides accountant services to the firm's numerous international clients, particularly on the corporate side. He works with clients to prepare to establish U.S. operations including registration with state authorities, applying for EINs, registering for sales tax collection, registering for payroll tax, and helping familiarize clients across the globe with the U.S. tax system. George prides himself on being a critical resource for clients as they expand their businesses throughout the world. George began his career at small accounting firms before taking a position at KPMG. After developing his skills there for several years, George sought personal growth opportunities as well as the chance to assist sophisticated clients on a more personal basis. He joined our firm in 2017, where he quickly became instrumental in establishing and running the firm's State and Local Tax (SALT) department as well as working with international clients. At Sasserath & Co., George serves on the Leadership Team and also spearheads the firm's Young Professionals initiatives to attract and retain top talent. John McClung

With over 30 years of experience in both public accounting and private roles, John McClung has a deep understanding of how to efficiently and effectively service clients, having the perspective from "both sides of the fence." John's broad experience makes him a go-to resource for clients on the critical everyday issues that make their businesses tick, including GAAP, financial statement preparation, income tax, payroll tax, and general accounting. His well-rounded perspective in today's accounting world makes him uniquely suited to advise clients of Sasserath & Co. on the issues impacting their businesses. John launched his career at a well-known regional mid-sized accounting firm before moving into private accounting a decade later as a Controller at what was then Long Island's largest printing paper distributor, Graphic Paper, Inc. Upon the successful sale of the business to an international conglomerate 20 years later, John transitioned back into public accounting, knowing that his Controller experience would make him an asset to corporate clients. He has firsthand experience dealing with the pressures of managing cash flow, reducing credit losses, meeting payroll, managing debt, and cutting costs to stay competitive, and puts that perspective to work every day for our clients. At Sasserath & Co., in addition to providing accounting services, John serves on the Leadership Team and the Volunteer Committee seeking out volunteer opportunities for the firm. Lynn Montag

With over 25 years of public accounting experience and a laser-focus on tax and accounting issues, Lynn Montag, CPA is the person clients call "for everything." She is an accounting professional and trusted advisor for business clients, not only handling a large part of Sasserath & Co.'s corporate and individual tax practice but also helping clients prepare for the continued success of their businesses. In addition to tax and accounting services, Lynn also advises clients on a variety of business issues. She focuses on clients in diverse industries including professional practices, technology firms, and distribution and manufacturing companies. Lynn began her career in the audit department of Coopers & Lybrand, now PwC. She left after several years to join a distribution firm as Comptroller, but Lynn eventually realized that public accounting was where she could be of most service to clients. In 2002, she joined our firm in its early days as a startup accounting firm with a focus on sophisticated business clients. Since then, Lynn has been an integral part of the firm's tremendous growth, devoting her career to the companies that make Long Island and New York City such vibrant places to do business. Her public accounting work is complemented by her private sector experience.
