Giacomo Vacca earned his B.A. and M.A. in Physics from Harvard University, and his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University. His dissertation, under the guidance of Nobel Prize winner Bob Laughlin, introduced a new ultrafast optical technique for investigating microscopic fluid phenomena.
Dr. Vacca's career spans the life sciences, in vitro diagnostics, microfluidics, lasers, telecommunications, and the energy sector, including 24 years of experience in research and development and other functional roles. He has set up whole laboratories from scratch, started and led development projects, managed large multifunctional groups, generated intellectual property (65 patents issued, 23 pending) and managed IP portfolios. A breakthrough technology he conceived and developed, Laser Rastering, boosted flow cytometry analysis throughput by a factor of 30. Among the products he helped develop and bring to market are flow cytometers, hematology analyzers, solid-state lasers, and integrated waveguide optical components.
Dr. Vacca has served as an expert witness, including testifying under deposition, in patent invalidity cases and other litigation in the fields of flow cytometry, cell sorting, particle analysis and particle separation.

Rich McKay is President and founder of Full Spectrum Scientific, a consulting company that delivers customized solutions for clients in the life sciences, helping them gain scientific and commercial traction for their novel technologies. She is an Amazon.com Best Selling author with five books on supply chain and operations management including: "42 Rules for Sourcing and Manufacturing in China," and "Legal Blacksmith - How to Avoid and Defend Supply Chain Disputes." She has been a management consultant for over 25 years with nearly 80 clients worldwide. Ms. Coates earned an MBA from University of San Diego and a BS in Business Logistics from Arizona State University. She teaches Global Supply Chain Strategies and Architectures, part time, at UC Berkeley.
Sean Murphy is CEO of SKMurphy, Inc., a strategic advisory firm based in Silicon Valley that specializes in market creation and new technology product introduction. Prior to SKMurphy, Mr. Murphy has worked for Cisco Systems, 3Com, and AMD in a variety of engineering management, marketing, and business development roles. He holds a BS in Mathematical Sciences and an MS in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.
