West Consulting Services was established to provide general risk management and patient safety consulting for health care providers and entities. It also specializes in continuing education on medical/legal topics. Its founder, John C. West, has nearly 40 years of experience in the health care industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology, a law degree and a master's degree in health services administration. He has worked for health care providers, insurance companies and insurance brokers. Additionally, he has written a column entitled "Case Law Update" for the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management since 1994 and has been invited to speak at every annual meeting of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) since 1997. Additionally, he contributed to the Risk Management Handbook for Healthcare Organizations (6th ed.) and served as the editor of the forthcoming ASHRM publication entitled Healthcare Risk Management Foundations.
